Just a quickie! Do you bubs swelter in Bubblebubs/Honeyboys/fleece nappies over summer?
We have hot, hot summers in Melbourne! As much as I will suffer for fashion, I should probably let bubs off this time!
I suppose anything with PUL or microfleece is going to be hot ...

i think any nappy would be as hot as the next? there couldnt be too much difference they all have outer waterproof layer/s and many layers of absorbent stuffings...

I was wondering this too as it gets hotter and hotter up here.
So far bub seems to be fine with it, and the temps at the moment are about 35' where I am. She wears whatevers going, most of which are minky and pul.
As the summer gets hotter tho, all she'll be wearing is a nappy unless we're in the aircon. And I guess I'll give her lots of nappy free time.
But yeah, so far alls good, no heat rash or anything.

I reckon it would be hotter to wear a thick minky nappy rather than a lightweigh pocket with minimal stuffing.

I'm going to aim for hemp fitteds or terry flats with wool covers in summer, when at home - our place can get ridiculously hot! Just have to get knitting! I have mostly pockets though, so we wil be using them alot too, but I think I'll save them for when we are out and about in aircon!

We'll be using mostly bamboo fitteds with wool covers/ soakers for summer. Wool is amazing, warm in winter, cool in summer. Can't beat it.

I'm from Darwin.
Natural fibres are the coolest option.
So natural fibre fitteds and wool covers when required. A fitted with no cover is the best option. Keeps bubs totally cool.
Anything with a layer of PUL makes DS very sweaty under the nappy. I can feel how hot he is under the nappy so I avoid anything with PUL....and to a lesser degree fleece.
Fleece and minky (without any PUL) is kinda an inbetween option. They are breathable but still synthetic fibres.
So for Summer I would say a fitted is the first option (with a wool cover if needed)...then any nappy without PUL, so a Honeyboy would be ok, an Abbi Gro etc. and then last would be anything with PUL, Bubblebubs etc.
Oh and it goes without saying that sposies are NOT breathable.

I've got lots of pocket nappies made from Malden Mills Fleece, which is what the Honeyboys are made from, and it is totally breathable, and not hot at all
So Honeyboys should be an OK option. I think PUL can get a bit sweatier than fleece, but if the lining of the nappy is a natural fabric like cotton sherpa, or cotton velour, or hemp, or bamboo. Like the swaddlebees pockets with valour lining
Suedecloth isn't too bad, but microfleece can definately cause irritation in the heat :)
