Okay - so I have a cyst that started out the size of a marble on the right side of my vulva (hate that word) Went to the gp - she said not to worry -t hey can sometimes go away by themselves, 1 week later cyst has doubled in size - back to GP - she refers me to a private obgyn (am a public patient 24 wks pg), and I have to wait for 2 1/2 weeks for appontment, meanwhile cyst gets bigger - GP - not worried, midwife not worried and i asked everyone the pvte obgyn won't just refer me back to my public hospital clinic???? Will he???? "NO" everyone shouted he'll fix it there really easy procedure
Appointment today, cyst now golf ball size - getting sore now!!! He nearly falls over, and explains I need a general anistetic and a drain inserted for several days to clear it and it can be a VERY serious health complaint (nearly sent me to emergency)- calls the hospital I go to for Pre-natal (Surprise, surprise) and refers me back there for medical treatment as I already have a history there (and thats free)- Oh $180 thanks 4 the appointment!!!!!!!! And another 2 days off work cause it might get done tomorrow or perhaps Friday!!!! Am going to preform a sit in at the hospital until there is a tube hanging out of me - they have gloria jeans there could stay 4 days!!!!!!!!
HOW FRUSTRATING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyone else had this kind of cyst??

Hi kiwibird - I have a septated cyst. It is 6.5 x 5.5 and another one is 2.5 both on my ovary and I have also been spotting. I am a little worried that the cysts are going to affect my pregnancy.......
How is your pregnancy going?

Kiwibird, Take yourself to the hospital and either present at emergency or at the Labour Ward. Your Bartholin Cyst is not going to get any better. Please believe me. I had one in 1998 when I was pregnant with DS#1. They kept saying "Oh it will go away on it's own" It didn't. I don't want to alarm you, but I was carted off to the theatre at 9.30pm at night to have the whole gland removed. It basically is a blockage and there is no other way it is going to be fixed. It doesn't affect any sexual feeling :o later on I can give you more information if you wish to PM me.

Joanne.

Thanks everyone - They admitted me immediately and I had to wait 8 hours but finally got surgery!!!!Had to have a spinal Anistetic and just got out of hospital - Cyst was easily removed it was the spinal and waiting in the hospital that was the hardest, Hospitals are so under resourced it's not even funny - whole place looked terrible and don't even get me started about the food!!!!!
Thanks mumoftwoboys - as I was leaving the hospital they told me cause I am pg I can turn up to maternity with any health problem and they have to fix it - wish they would of told me that 20 wks ago!!!

I am so pleased that they finally did something about your problem. I know that I was so uncomfortable and cranky that I had a go at my Dad (and I was mortified that I did it afterwards) That was when Mum took me aside and asked what was wrong. She said if the hospital wouldn't do anything about it, she was going up there herself! Amazing, 28 years old at the time and Mum was still taking charge. It worked though. Thank goodness it didn't happen with DS#2

Hope you are feeling better. Don't you just love them spinal blocks???? :)

Spinals are the worst thing ever to recover from - are epidurals just as bad????

Yep. That's why I wouldn't have one with either labour. Not that I got enough time anyway. 3 hours with DS#1 and 2 hours with DS#2. GP says admitting me a week before EDD next time will alleviate the problem of giving birth in the car. lol
