I like doing a hot wash OR a hot rinse with my MCN- not both. Actually, I'd be happy using cold! But here's the problem, and I'm wondering if others ever have the same experience:

No matter what powder or liquid I use, and how tiny the amounts are (I currently use 1 dessertspoon of liquid in an XL load) I still need to do an extra rinse, in hot, to get rid of the suds. An extra rinse in cold doesn't bring out the suds and wash them away. Cold water detergents and liquids still seem to need hot water to wash out properly- and wash away smells and wee properly!

Anyone else find this?? :detective:

we dont have a hot water thingy going into our machine, so if i want to do a strip wash i have to fill it up with a bucket, or take it to my dads....

i do an extra cold rinse though normally, (with 30mls of earth choice liquid in the wash) and dont have any problems...

which laundry power/liquid are you using?

i only use earth choice now, its cheap, enviro friendly and works great!

Can't say I have had that problem. Have you thought about getting yourself some Soap Nuts ? They work REALLY well

I haven't had any bubbles or anything left when I take my my nappies out Em, is that what you mean? or are you actually watching it as it goes in the machine?

Although I always wash on hot, which has a hot wash, but cold rinse, and on the heavy duty cycle which has an extra hot rinse at the start.

Sorry not much help am I?

Maybe try a different brand of detergent???

We have solar hot water heating so it makes no difference cost and enviromentally wise for me to hot wash our nappies:)

Go the soap nuts !

We use these now after having major dramas with Earth Choice not getting rid of the rank smell Boof was eminating for awhile lol & these did the job beautifully without any extra rinses etc.

I only do a hot wash/cold rinse when it is overcast and the nappies need to go in the drier so not very often. I use the soap nuts so no suds left.

Unless there's no sun around, I always wash in cold water with a little Earth Choice liquid.
I have noticed a mild lingering smell at times when I get them out of the machine, but I find that after line drying in the sun, this disappears.
I do a rinse in just cold water before the main wash too.
