Hey there,

Ds is 14 months old and definitely has athsma,he has been hospitalised 3 times and rushed to the doctors twice in 3-4 months :(.

His latest one was today,he woke up with a temp about 39 and then started wheezing. He wasn't responding well to ventolin and when i gave him predisone he spewed it back up.I rushed him to the doctors and they put him straight on the neb, poor little man's chest was so tight he could hardly breathe. The thing is it comes on so quick and i have to react fast or he gets so bad he can't breath .I didn't even get any warning signs

He responded well on the neb, that i am thinking it would be ideal to get a neb?

So do you think i should get one?How much do they cost?Have you got one, does it work well?

TIA

I think it would be a good idea to get one.

I have had one since I was a kid, and from personal experience, they help a lot when you have bad asthma, they give quicker and longer relief etc.

I am not sure how much they cost, the one I have is the one my parents bought when I was 12 (18years ago) and it still works. I can imagine the newer ones would be a lot better.

:hugs::hugs: for your poor little man. I hope he grows out of it.

Jesse also responds better and quicker to the nebuliser although I haven't bought one as his asthma is pretty much under control with his preventer and his asthma is seasonal, only getting wheezy during the colder months.
If you get in touch with the Asthma foundation in your state they may have second hand nebulisers for sale - my friend got one through them for her Dad.

i think you might as well...

its one of those things that you are willing to buy and you will be over the moon if you never have to use it, but if you do have to use it...even just once you will be so glad you did buy it....

i guess its something you will never regret buying

It'd be a good idea.. I have been an asthmatic all my life and still have a portable nebulizer.. saves a lot of hassle for you and bubs.. hope he's OK..

i think its a good idea, if you get his peador respiratory dr to write a script for him to have one, it wil be al lot cheaper for you to buy it

Yep i would get one. I could mean you can stay home rather than go to hospital when he is bad.

My Dad is chronic asthmatic and has a nebuliser which he wouldn't be without. His Dr writes scripts for all the meds and he has everything on standby so when he gets bad he can have a neb straight away. Saves long waits in emergency.

He is now under a respitory specialialist so can get direct admission to a private hospital at the drop of a hat which helps too.

i bought nebuliser for my son, it works so much better than the liquid bricanyl. it cost me $199, & i got $110 back from my private health cover.
