I just need to vent abit. During pregnancy I stacked on 30kg, majority of that in the last 2months. When DS was about 6months old I went on the Tony Ferguson diet (Meal replacement shakes) and totally loved it. I lost 23kg in 3 and a half months. I stopped over the christmas break because i wanted to enjoy myself and have mentioned to DF I want to start again.
Well once i said that he had one million excuses for me not to. "U lost enough" "Its pointless" "Who do u need to impress" "Just workout with me everyday"
After all these excuses are said he walks in the room and gives me a chocolate or a bowl of icecream.
I just feel if I am going to do this i need support. I have no one to impress but I would feel so much better about myself if i lost those last 10kg or so. As for working out...with a 12 month old i dont really have much time to be doing weights with him.
Am i being selfish for wanting to do this for myself?!

Hi Steph,
Could I just head on the "outskirts" of this subject and ask how much the shakes are?
I too put on 30kg and have lost 15kg (using the Optifast shakes but they are about $50 per week!!..yikes!) and stopped over chrissy and have just gone back on them this week - 5 weeks till my wedding and I need a quick fix of about 8kg....
Am still overweight so will continue after the wedding for another couple of months....
:)
you are not being selfish at all...
Sometimes men just dont understand.. because they can eat what ever they like when ever they like and not get fat!
Good luck with it all....

oh, and I forgot to mention!!.....I do not think you are selfish before - you were 30 kg less prior to pregnancy, it's your body and if you feel comfortable on inside as well as out at your pre pregnancy weight I'll back you!!!
:D
I hear you.
I am constantly telling my DH I am watching my weight etc, and on the odd occasion he finds me with something naughty, he goes 'what about your diet?' in a rude tone. But THEN he brings home bags of chips and takeaway?
Grr its annoying! Men just dont' get it.
Do what you need to do to make YOU feel good about YOURself.
You'll have plenty of support here :) And huge congrats for the amount of weight you have lost already - inspirational :)

Thanx for all ur support ladies!
The shakes arent that expensive $38 a week. It has nothing to with the money tho. If it was tightening our budget too much i wouldntdo it but we have the money so really there shouldnt be anything stopping me.
We r getting married in 16months and our engagement party is in 2and a half months and I just want to look nice. I dont wanna look back at my engagement photos and think I shouldve lost weight.

Congratulations on your weightloss and your determination to lose the rest! Finding your old body after having a beautiful bub is so hard - hard work physically, mentally and practically.
My background is in sport, fitness and nutrition (Ba. Sports Science) and I would love to be able to offer yourself and any other Mum's any help and advice I can.
The shakes are the easiest way to lose weight, providing you are receiving all the nutrients you need for healthy skin, bones, hormone levels etc.
For those of you where cost is a factor use 250ml of skim milk, 3 tablespoons of skim milk powder and 2 teaspoons of flavour (milo, low joule topping, fresh strawberries). It makes for a quick breakfast or afternoon snack.
But keeping your metabolism running high ensures even after you have lost the extra kilos, they will stay off. So eat fresh foods, low fat dairy and seafood where ever possible. Avoid cooldrink, lollies, biscuits, cakes, swap white bread for rye, white rice and pasta for wholemeal etc - you know the stuff. best of all, take Bub for a stroll with a friend ( to make you go when your feeling slack!) around some hilly terrain.
best of Luck! Your man will love your bod at the end of the day so just keep on going!

I was just wondering if you found the diet easy to stick to and did you exercisea lot, or did the weight just drop off! (I wish)?
