I am posting this in response to someone whom sent me a private message.

continued poll
Is there a reason some states/territories have been left out?

I think you can only have 10 options on a poll

Ummm..... How is this poll valid?? Are you making sure that there is an even number of bubhubbers in each state?

I am unsure as I did put a continued poll for WA and Tasmania and I actually noticed a resposse in tasmania but now the poll seems to be doubled so if you are a mod can you please make a correction and the poll might need to start again.

What I mean is: You are asking for Bubhubbers with circumsised sons to note what state they are in.
If, for example, 40% of Bubhubbers reside in QLD, 3% in Tassie, 20% in Vic, etc, then obviously the results will be skewed because you are not comparing the number of parent/s with circumcised sons with the number of parent/s with intact sons.
The poll as it stands means nothing.

I am really not concerned as I am trying to fill a request. Perhaps if you could give a solution I can listen and make amends

I had a continued poll for WA and Tasmania where has it gone?

All 3 of my boys are uncircumcised.
We live in NSW.
Wouldn't make a difference what state we lived in, they would remain uncircumcised.

My too arent done... We are in VIC!
One thing that NEVER ceases to amaze me about circy threads, a person starts a thread to get opinions and experiences, and someone ALWAYS has to turn it into a low blowing pety, tit for tat fight....why can't you all just be mature, give your opinion and leave, is beyond me....

Ok, since I wasn't actually trying to turn this thread into anything (and would have just left it at that if I didn't get jumped on for what I had to say), I will try again.
This poll is pointless. If 50% of QLD voters here on bubhub say the did or did not circ their son, that means nothing. It does not mean that 50% of QLD boys are circumcised, it means nothing at all.
I would appreciate it if circangel (or anyone else) could tell us what the relevance of this poll is or what it tells us.
I hope that is a nicer, less low blowing, petty, etc way of putting it :)
My son is in nsw and uncircumcised.
Hope that helps
I don't understand why people just can't answer the OP question

We reside in Victoria, my son and any future sons will stay intact. The state that we live in played no role in the decision to leave him intact.

I think questioning the relevance of the poll is entirely warranted. I am confused too. -What- is the motivation behind the poll? What exactly is the OP looking for? The poll is fundamentally flawed as far as I can see but perhaps a clear explanation as to the reasoning behind it may help clarify for people what the actual point is.
Shadycharacter- it is also EXTREMELY Pointless to poll "What Shampoo Etc do you use?" But these have been done. Most people just answer and go about their business.
I have no idea what the point is, but not having started the thread I also dont NEED to know.
BTW in answering the q- NSW UNCIRC'ED

But if you started a poll asking "do you shampoo your head and live in NSW, do you shampoo your head and live in Vic" etc, you would expect to be asked the relevancy surely?!
CircA, I have added your missing poll options (let me know if any corrections are required).
I have also deleted a number of off topic posts. This poll has been set up to explore the percentages of boys circumcised in each state. It certainly is an interesting issue if the number of doctor's willing to perform this procedure has a signficant outcome on final percentages. This poll is trying to generate from our population the same stats as given in this thread (http://www.bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=121663) (which was a percentage breakdown of circed boys by state).
No-one has ever said that bubhub polls are going to be a perfect representation of the nation as a whole (though some have said that our demographics may allow it to come close). However, anything but constructive suggestions are going to be deleted as off topic. If you aren't interested in the outcome, fair enough, but do not derail the thread.

I can understand how the poll is not going to be in any way accurate, as not all mums are Bub Hub members, but then same goes for all of the pols on here, as much as we may often forget the whole parenting world does not revolve around Bub Hub
Yes, but if there is a poll (and there has been many) simply asking 'is your son circ'd - yes or no?', you could accept that an overall figure is a good reflection of the percentage of bubhub members that circ their son. Not science, but it would give you an idea.
In this case, asking by states doesn't give a reflection of anything - it doesn't give an indication of percentages by state or any such thing.
Shanz, regardless of your opinion (which you are perfectly within your right to have), I object to these sort of polls when the person posting the poll is an avid circ advocate who has in the past, either intentionally or not, presented incorrect information as fact (nicest way I could put that). So yes, I am happy to explain why it matters to me personally as to the point of this poll, even if it does not bother you :)

xkwzit, are you posting as a moderator or just a member?
I ask as I would like to comment on what you had to say, but if I am then going to get told off for 'questioning a moderator', I would prefer not to.
Just trying to keep it on track. So I guess I've got my moderator hat firmly on.
We would not normally critique anyone's reason for starting any poll - I don't think it is necessary or on topic. But CircA has said that he's happy to accept constructive opinions - so if you have one - great. We have had a number of yes or no polls in the past, that always come out at about the same percentages. I did think that this could shed some interesting results, we have not ever had a state by state poll and I'm just trying to keep it on topic.

We live in NSW and both boys are not circumcised.
Interim results for anyone who is interested at 8:30 pm. I've done a little accounting because the figures we are after are percentage for each state (rather than a percent of the overall votes, which is what the poll is programmed to give out).
State by state, columns are total votes, number circed, percentage (of that state) circed:
TOTAL Circ %Circ
Queensland
11 3 27%
New South Wales
12 3 25%
Victoria
6 1 17%
Northern Territory
1 0 0%
South Australia
1 0 0%
Tasmania
2 1 50%
Western Australia
2 0 0%
Not many votes in for WA, NT, Tas or SA though...
(can you tell I want Anthony Green's job :D )
We live in the ACT, and our son is NOT circ'ed.
Not sure where that will fit into the stats....
:D
I knew there might be ACT ppl. Did you wont to lob into NSW or should I put another two options on the poll?
Cheers
Tis up to you :) ... it might skew NSW results, but then I might also be the only ACT person to respond, so could skew them in a whole different way too!

I'm also ACT and didn't because I wasn't sure where to poll...

If you are in the ACT please poll as NSW and when the poll is finished I will try and ascertain a breakdown for the ACT and the rest of the states, although I am not sure if I will be able to do this but I will try. Someone might like to remind me.

-How- will you do that? Won't that just bump the NSW stats to swing the poll results?

Thanks Guvnor I am currently looking into fixing the situation so please do not vote if you are in the ACT till further advice but you will get your say.
Which one of my sons am I voting on behalf of? The oldest or the youngest?
Even if this were set up as a multichoice poll, you can only vote once for any particular option.
So, if your boys are both the same, you can only vote once anyway, that's a limitation of our polls.
If your boys are different or you have moved and you'd like to vote for each, we would have to start the poll over with a multichoice option, sorry.:)

boys in Victoria, and all are NOT circumsised.
BTW I do think this is an interesting poll, I just voted on a poll titled "do you make your bed?" so I don't think there is anything wrong with this one, I will be interested to see the results.

If you have not voted by now you will need to vote if you want to be part of the poll. NSW and ACT are combined. There is a possibility I might run a separate poll into the future and ask only members whom polled in this poll to re poll for the separate states of ACT and NSW so there can be a comparison made but for now if you are in the ACT vote in NSW.
Results 10:00pm Thursday.
State by state, columns are total votes, number circed, percentage (of that state) circed:
