I know this has nothing to do with pregnancy or babies just want to know your thoughts on this subject....
Girl, 4, tortured, court told
18.10.2005
A FOUR-year-old Mackay girl suffered multiple fractures, had groin and throat ulcers caused by caustic acid, and she also had superglue poured in one ear as part of a year of torture, the Magistrate's Court heard yesterday.
Half of her throat had to be surgically treated for uclers and has to be drip-fed for two years.
She is in a stable condition in the Royal Children's Hospital.
She was malnourished, emaciated, ulcerated and there was evidence of muscle wasting.
"The medical evidence is very damning," prosecutor Senior Constable Tony Irvine said in court.
Her stepfather, 31, who can not be identified because of Child Protection Act laws, faced court yesterday charged with torture, cruelty to a child, and causing grievous bodily harm.
He was not required to enter pleas.
Snr Const Irvine said the child was admitted to the Mackay Base Hospital on September 26, when a major police investigation started.
