Julius Sleep's alot he feeds roughly every 3 hours, not including the time he spend's feeding. He'd be awake 2/3 hours in a 24 hour time frame.I didnt worry until my mother says he sleeps alot & she has had 7 children.Should I be concerned?
It is unlike him to be awake more than an hour at a time.

I spelt normal wrong.

Is he awake when he feeds?
Baby's do hibernate for a while he is in the huge growth spurt time.

About half way though feeding he normaly nods off to sleep!

Iam not to concerned, he is healthy, alert, putting on weight and developing normaly...I dont know how since he is sleeping so much...but still I have to be sure anyway.

Ah yes Eliza does that too!

Yes it does sound like a lot of sleep, he sounds fine though! As long as he's alert and happy when he is awake and he is I think you have nothing to worry about, wet nappies and interested in booby all is good :D

 See a mother always knows and I think your mum has just forgotten or didn't have one as contented as yours. Beleive me as you age you do tend to forgot a lot of the trying times and imagine your babies and kids were angelic/perfect:laughing:

My sis told me a very clever thought that I'd never really contemplated, "adults don't always want a full meal sometimes a snack will do and babies are no different".

Thanks :)

I guess he will grow out of it when he is ready then. But lack of stimulation can be bad, at this stage of rapid brain development I wouldnt want him to be under stimulated. But I guess he need's the sleep. He is just like me then (likes his sleep) lol

dont worry too much about it at this stage:hugs: so long as he is alert and happy and starting to do things he should... wet and dirty nappies too... the normal things.

DD slept ALOT at that age too... but you should start to notice him takin in his surroundings a little more in a few weeks and he'll want to be stimulated more then.

I wouldn't worry too much either - Aston is 3 and a half weeks old - Some days he seems to sleep, and sleep and sleep.. Other days it seems like he spends a lot of the day awake... Last night he was awake from 5 until 8... But then he slept for 5 hours straight...

As long as your little one is healthy and happy as you said, I wouldn't be worried....

He is still very young and will be stimulated with even a few minutes awake without you even being aware of it. All I can say is.......

........ ENJOY IT WHILE IT LASTS.

and rest rest rest while you can!

Yep they are all different
ds1 was like yours
ds2 NEVER slept
DD is another sleeper ( thank goodness)!!! At 6 weeks would only be awake for about a hr at a time.

Dont stress, like you say hes happy healthy etc.
Just likes his sleep.

Appreciate what you have I say!!!
By 6 weeks I was already having major sleeping probs with DS he would be awake for most of the time and have a few 1 hour sleeps throughout the day and night if I was lucky! I am praying this time I get one like yours!
My SIL would always say "but they need sleep to grow!" and I was like"well why has he put on 1kg in about 3 weeks?!"

I had the same issue with my DS, and i remember my health nurse telling me that babies do most of their growing while they sleep because its hard work! I remember thinking 'geez babies are easy, i dont know what everyone's talking about when they say their tired all the time!' That all changed the older he got so enjoy it while it lasts! I must say though, my 13 week DD is exactly the same too, so i have been very lucky!
