My little one is 6 weeks on Tuesday and we are still to really get into any sort of routine. I have read all the books and have tried to get things happening, but as he is changing so much, it is really hard. Is anyone else in the same situation? :):)
:hugs: I remember when my DD was so young and we had no routine in place. They change so quickly in the first 3 months that any routine you do get into is likely to change next week anyway.
Try not to worry too much about routine and just go with the flow of things. As for some tips, I found a good way to start the day was to ensure I had a shower before DH left for work, then when start prepping dinner around lunchtime, as for the rest, it all just seemed to fall into place, but at least with those 2 things organised, I felt that I could tackle the rest with ease.

My son is 6.6 weeks old we dont have a routine I thought they dont have routines at at age.I normaly just feed him when he is hungry, change him when he needs it ect he seems happy. It's hard getting things done but I guess it dosent last forgever, they will grow up at their own pace.
Hi there Charlie Baby,
I have a 6 week old and a 22 month old.
I learnt with my first that routines never stick at that age. Just go with the flow hun and eventually it will become easier.
Usually at the 12 week mark it all settles into place and youll feel more comfortable.
Take care and PM if you have any questions:hugs:

I have 9 1/2 week old, there is not much of a routine happening at our place!! I feed when she wants, which can range from every hour when growth spurting to two hours to four hours. I spoke to health nurse about the rumours that 6 week and 8 week olds how they apparnetly meant to be sleeping thru and in routine, and she said depends on baby, hers had to wait til 3 months, some at ten months!! So that was reassuring knowing i wasnt the only one! They say it gets better and easier, so i guess i take their word for it, it is hard to know with the first. I guess its all part of the adventure!

my dd is 10weeks and still isnt in any real routine...i gathered with her changing all the time id just let her go and let her get into a routine on her own...
if by 4 months she hasnt ill step in and help or if her routine isnt working with me ill gradually fix it...
We have a very loose routine for Gabby...
basically just a bedtime one. We eat dinner at 5pm... then Gabby has a bath and a feed at 5:30 and I put him down into his cot with some lullaby music playing, that I only play at that time of day. And then every feed after that is done in a dim, quiet room with little eye contact (usually because mine are closed too... ) until the morning.. when DH brings him out of the room at 6. (DH gets up earlier with the boys... and then comes and gets Gabby after his first feed so I can have a sleep in for an hour)

Whats a routine, I just feed when he is hungry and let him sleep when he is tired. My other 2 where the same. I found a routine just made it harder when you had to break it to get them back into it(if that makes sense).
