Conceiving a Boy

Just wondering if anyone has had any sucess with the methods for having a boy.

Also does anybody know if there is anyway to increase your chances of having a boy.

I know this has probably been asked heaps of times but i cant find it anywhere

At the time of Ovulation our bodies are naturally Alkalined, if your planning on having a girl, add some acidity to what your eating and bed dance 3 days prior to O.
If your planning on having a boy stick to a alkaline diet and have sex right on O.

You can find Alkaline diets on google. Pineapple juice is alkaline and is great for CM!!!

I didn't bother with diets, but we did time things to increase our chances of concieving a girl when we were ttc the baby who is now our 22mth old DD :)

I didn't bother with the diet either - but we did try for a boy and we got him ;)

We did the deed on O day only - not before. This minimises the chances of any female sperm still hanging around when the egg is released (female sperm last longer - up to 7 days under the right conditions).

Of course only having sex on O day will minimise your chances of conception in any given cycle just because you're not doing it as often - but you have decide whether that's worth the risk for you. For us it was because we've never had trouble getting pregnant so we thought we'd try it that way for a few months and if we didn't get pregnant at all, then we'd reevaluate.

Fortunately we conceived DS the first month of trying!

Oh it's also much much easier if you're charting your cycle for a few months so you have a good idea of when you ovulate - it's rare to ovulate on day 14 don't fall for that myth ;)

ITA. I have a 32 day cycle and we were having sex on day 14 trying for a boy with our first child. My O day is really about day 17-18 so that is why we got a girl the first time (not that we minded :) ) Charting will take the guess work out of pinpointing O. Have fun getting that boy ;)

Also I heard the O day thing as mentioned above and sure our DS was conceived on that day.

Also both DH & I love our caffeine and have fairly salty diets and that is supposed to be boy friendly too.

yeah...id love to know to! dh&I hope to have a boy next time around, whenever that will be who knows! but in the mean time ill just have to research! :D

True True Very True.... stick to this and you should be fine...

Also, Now this might sound odd BUT ITS WORKED EVERYTIME in my family, Try washing urself out down there with a alkaline solution such as Bi Carb soda dissolved in water around ovulation time...

If its a girl your trying for then wash down there with watered down vinegar which is an acid solution...also around ovulation time...

Hi all,

New here...wanting tips on trying for a boy.

Have looked into things a little and thought it would be good to get a bit of 'real' advice.

I've heard it was best to BD 12 hours before O and then heard it was best on O. Does it make much difference.

Do you gals think the whole diet thing works?

I have a 32 day cycle and have a temp rise around day 21. Does that mean O for me is around day 17 or 18 too.

Would love your advice.

We have been trying for 3 cycles now and BDing only the day of and day after O, drinking caffeine right before, DH having cold shower to "wake the boys up" and doing it "doggy" for the best positioning of the sperm to the egg. We went to my OBGYN and she told us these are the best methods for getting a boy. Hopefully it works coz it becomes really unromantic really quickly when you can ONLY BD when you are told, not when the mood strikes!!!

You need to get a copy of The shettles Method, written by Dr Shettles.
Not sure if this would work, but it's all worth a try.
The shettles method recommends that just half an hour before bd, it might be beneficial for the male to drink a strong black coffee, the caffeine may act to propell the (y) male spem and sort of give them a bit of a head start and leave the slower (x) female sperm behind.
Though earlier in the day would be better to avoid sleeplessness from the caffeine.

Shettles recommends that you don't orgasm during sex. But some people feel that if the woman reaches orgasm before her partner, you’ll have a girl. According to some stories, being relaxed when you conceive could probably mean you'll have a girl.
