We're introducing mcn's into our FDC and I'm still trying to figure out what will work best for a range of kids in a day care setting (ie. takes longer to chnage 4 nappies so needs to be VERY absorbant). I was all set on the BBB as they seem to be the work horse nappy of alot of families along with a OSFA PUL cover. Someone suggested I use pockets so I don't need a cover and I stumbled accross the Haute OSFA that are a much cheaper option as if you buy 6 (without the inserts yet) they work out at around $12 a nappy. My only issue is I haven't heard alot about the absorabncy of pockets. I know it depends on what you put in them so would go for bamboo fo extra absorbancy. The kids generally get their nappies changed every 3 hours.

I love my Haute pockets and they are highly absorbant with the 2 inserts that come with the nappy. However they were alot more than $12 each so I am not sure where you got this price from? Normally each one comes with a small and a large insert, both microfibre, but you could easily add a bamboo insert also for extra absorbancy.

Darling downunder sells them as packs of six (without the inserts) for $72. $26 for a single with the two inserts.

I think they mean when you select the 6 pack you add (+) $72 to the price;)

I use the Haute OSFA pocket with both inserts for night use and I love it. But I must admit my 2 favourite nappies are the BumGenius (comes with 1 insert for around $26) and the bamboo Baby Beehinds.
I got some ZigZag PUL covers from a WAHM for $13 each .... they're great. The BumGenius nappies I got from Haute Mama .... she's really helpful (plus she's a Bubhub mum too!).
Both the Hautes and BG's come with inserts.
If I were you, I'd get a pack of each and see which you like best... they have a fantastic resale value, and not only that but the different sorts might work better on different kids.
In my opinion the absorbancy is about the same.
I change the boys every 3-4 hours in either the Hautes or the BG's. And I know that sometimes at kindy they change them even less (have to talk to them about that...... ) as the stay dry inner fools them into thinking the boys haven't 'wee-ed'
They both work out to about the same price...
