Any advice on when the best time or even season is to wean bub off breast milk? I always said I would stop bf at six months but got alot of negative feedback. Bub's now eight months old. Any opinions welcome.

If baby is happy to keep feeding, and you're happy to keep feeding, then just keep feeding! :) There's lots more benefits than just nutritional. And if you wean now, you'll need to give bubs formula for at least the next 4 months. I've done both breast and formula feeding and (even though breast feeding was a real challenge for us) there is no way I would willingly choose to give myself all that extra work - not to mention the cost of formula, bottles, sterilising equipment, etc etc.
Don't worry about what other people think, or what the older generation say was done "in their day".... make the choice based on what is best for your baby.
There's no ideal time to wean; there is a technique called Child Led Weaning which means you "don't offer, but don't refuse" but I don't think that's recommended until after 2 years old.
