View Full Version : Nuts and breastfeeding
Does anyone know if you are not supposed to eat nuts while your are breastfeeding? I have heard that because of the allergies out there it is a good idea to refrain from nuts while breastfeeding/:confused:

this is a fact sheet on nut allergies and recommends that if you have a family history of nut allergies or other allergies you should consult and allergist before consuming nuts when pregnant or Breastfeeding. But if you are not in the catagory they are an excellent source of Folate which along with other things helps in the prevention of nural tube defects when pregnant(Spina bifida). Hope this helps:)
My DS1 has a nut allergy and when I was pregnant with DS2 his paedeatric allergist said to avoid all nuts while pregnant and breastfeeding. He did add that this applies to nut allergies only and avoiding other allergens like wheat, eggs and dairy had minimal effects. Apparently he conducted some study on it.
