hi, I have PCOS and have just started taking clomid today. YAY! I am very excited.

Just something I forgot to ask my gyno, what if my period doesn't last the five days I'm supposed to take clomid for? It usually doesn't last that long. Do I keep taking the clomid? Or does the clomid make my period last out?

Also, my day 21 blood test falls on a sunday. Should I get the test on Saturday or Monday?

Just thought of something else - I am excited that there is an increased risk of twins. My gyno is not so positive about this particular risk. Is it becauase he is a OB and it poses risks he has to deal with or is it really dangerous to carry twins? What am I at risk of?

thankyou!!!!!!

Hi Lizzy!

No it doesn't matter if your period doesn't last the whole 5 days... mine only used to go for 3-4 days too! (I have PCOS as well)

As for the multiple birth risk.... while there is a risk it isn't very high apparently. My mum was a twin so there was thought on clomid i might be a higher risk but both times there has only been 1 bubba.

Did you doctor give you an info sheet on it? (was it Dr McGath?) If not check out

The link above is for a fertlity specialist in Newcastle - Dr Robert Woolcott - he was the one the first diagnosed my problem.... only thing is once he gets you pregnant he can't do the rest!!!

Good luck!

Thanks! It is McGrath that I am seeing. He gave me a chart of when to take it and when to check for Ov and have sex and so-on but that was all.

I'll check out that link thankyou! I think McGarth and Woolcott are in the same Sydney IVF group.

Did it take you long to conceive on the clomid? I'm trying not to get too excited about it working the first or second cycle so I don't get too let down, but I can't help it!:D

I was one of the lucky ones that fell both times on the first cycle... however this doesn't happen to everyone!

Woolcott and McGrath are different in the sense with Woolcott he had me take it from Day 5-9 but with McGrath he had me take it from day 2-6... but it worked both times so don't worry to much about that!

mmm, My pcos friend at work has been instructed to take it on days 5 - 9 as opposed to my 2-6. Good to hear that its just the doctors preference.

She used to see Woolcott but changed to someone she was more comfortable with (Dr Raymond in New Lambton)

Did you change from Woolcott to McGrath? how did you feel about McGrath? On my third visit I must have caught him on a bad day and ended up in tears but on my fourth visit last week he was wonderful!

I've been told (after I'd already had a run in with him) that he's odd and you either like him or hate him :o On my third visit I was considering going to another gyno but he proved me otherwise last week :)

I only changed from Woolcott to McGrath because Woolcott couldn't deliver my baby.

With Dr McGrath I felt completely at ease with him and always found him to be resourceful when i had questions.... Both my pregnancies were classed as high risk and found him good in the sense he always wanted to get things checked out if they didn't appear normal....

I have also heard Dr Raymond is good but very busy.....
