Well..for the past week, I haven't really eaten anything. Whatever I eat, be it cereal(bad i know i tried this morning lol) toast, saladas, crackers, pasta(plain) some veggies(plain, steamed, boiled etc) iVe tried ALOT of foods, whatever it is, i cannot keep it down.

I am taking Maxalon at the moment but I am so hungry. For the first time in a week I have been able to get up and clean (yay, am so lucky for my brother as well who has beenhelping me alot as i have literally been bedridden)

I can handle water, cordial, lemon&ginger tea..but how can i eat again?? Any suggestions?

I was in the same situation awhile ago.. I was adviced to take sustagen..

u can buy it from ur chemist and its ok to have while pregnant! it gives u all the nutrients ur body needs and tastes good!

it also fills u up.. so u wont be as hungry
it should help u to go onto eating foods after a week or so aswell..

if u dont feel like eating for more than 2 weeks after having sustagen id talk to ur gp

hope that helps:hugs:

Thanks for that suggestion I will give it a go.

First time ever I haven't been able to keep down ANYTHING. So very odd and new to me. It'ls also the first time i am constantly nasueated(sp??) while on maxalon.

Any other suggestions will be great!

Crazykids- we posted same time! I have been hospitalized a total 5times for dehydration, but I am only vomitting when i eat. I can handle the fluids so I am not to sure. But your suggestion has picked at my brain as well because I think I was fine after being on IV as well..Definately worth further thinking.

I was the same with my 1st 3. With DD#3 when I wasn't keeping anything down, dh took me to the ER and they kept me in overnight and put me on a drip. They put 6 bags of fluids through me. That was when I was 9wks pg and then 2 days later I went back in and they put me on 1 bag of saline and I was fine after that. Stopped completely. Worth a thought.

try a sea sickness band in combination with the maxalon. that was the only thing that worked for me when i was pregnant with my first.

and i did end up losing 27kgs before i started gaining weight during my pregnancy and beth was born a healthy 7 pound 6 at 5 days overdue

I don't think that will work. I lived off 2min noodles with DS and now cannot stand them. The texture, the smell(cooked) and even the texture uncooked..thanks anyway :o

What is a sea sickness band??

I was told you get them from the chemist. They are a band for around your wrist for the pressure point. Its supposed to help.

Congrats on your BFP EskimoMumma!!

I found on some website that a few mouthfuls of apple sauce can help. I tried it and lived on it for about 6 weeks. It really did help.

As for Maxolon, it just made the vomit sit in the pit of my stomach until it wore off, then I'd throw up.

I hope you find something that works.

Chelle- thanks. On one hand i am grateful I have morning sickness because I miscarried end of June so am very thankful for this pregnancy. But on the other..i want to die :banghead:

As much as I am use to vomitting, I hate it. I can't stand it. And its not like i can sleep bedridden anyway! Lol..

I will check out the motion sickness bands though, they seem like a good idea too.

You poor thing congrats on the :bfp:

I had morning sickness for both of mine and i lived on gingernut biscuits for about the first 4 months both times, and also dried nutra grain or what ever its called. I found if i chewed gum it would help with the sick feeling after i ate so i wouldnt chuck. I was on maxolon as well then when i went to the OB he gave me Lacgutal (sp) and that worked i took that then ate about half hour later. But they did make me very drousy which wasnt nice with another one to look after.

:hugs: :wizard: hope you are feeling better

Someone who feels my pain! Have u been to a GP? Do you know what they told you?

The thought of waiting forever in a waiting room catching god knows what on top of morning sickness is quite daunting..

Thanks for the advice mel, ive written that Lacgutal stuff down so :fingerscrossed: i can get my hands on it.

As long as you can keep fluids down, no need to panic.

I can't give you any other suggestions because nothing works. ATM I drink cordial, fresh OJ and ice cubes.

Have you tried spicy foods? I know it sounds strange when you can't keep anything down, but during my last pg, I found that it was the bland foods - mashed potato, crackers, pasta etc - that I threw up... although there were times there when I threw up no matter what I ate. I had never heard of hyperemesis before, but next pg, I'll head to the dr if I have the same problem! (I'm allergic to maxolon, so my dr said she couldn't give me anything...)

Anyway, maybe spicy foods will help (or something with a bit of flavour - I actually got to the point of throwing up water, but could hold coke or lucozade down... and that threw my BGL way out!!)

Good luck, and congrats!!

I am allergic as well, what does it do to you if you don't mind me asking?
Besides half my family i don't know anyone else that is. Thought it was just our genetics!!

It was suggested i try Vitamin B...mmmm after forgetting for a day i woke up feeling slighty better. Didn't take one for two days and the nausea all but went away.

As for the eating/sickness i am sure we could all tell paragraphs of stories.

I used an Oestopath with DD2 as well as had Bowen Therapy. I still ended up in hospital, (not just to have the bubs) but started to improve quicker. 1st time i was sick for 36's weeks and DD2 about 16.

All i could eat was toast/vegimite/cheese....I also had a dairy allergy...made things a little hard.

wow the name of your thread really struck a cord. I sincerely hope your feeling better soon

As for me .........27 weeks and 3 days, still haven't kept down a single meal, taking zofran, maxalon, B6 and ginger, I am friggen starving :o and have taken to bursting into tears every time my husband mentions what he is intending to cook for dinner.

On the bright side, I'm having a baby and pregnancies only go for about 40 weeks right :D Sorry i don't have a better suggestion than keep your spirits up.

Strangely enough, it makes me throw up even more - I found out the hard way, had an infection and was hospitalised, after three days of still throwing up, they realised I must be allergic, changed to zofran and it stopped within 24hrs!!

Oh no you poor thing!!! Id be crying too watching my own DP eat or mention food :hugs:

I am better, not so nauseated..but afraid to eat in fear of throwing up. i even pinched a taste of DD2's fruit muslie, so yum but then i regreted it lol.

I tried some ensure satchels from teh chemist(wasnt going to buy a big tin of sustagen unltil i knew i could hold it down) so that worked so will be getting some of that so i know im def getting all the vitamins, pregnancy sure can suck though cant it?

Blubber- sorry to hear your allergic to the stuff! Cant believe it took em 3 days to work it out !! Atleast the Zofran work, as exxy as it is :hugs:

Today I am tempted to eat an orange..but am afraid too so silly :(

I had hypermesis too. It was seriously the most traumatic 8 weeks of my life.

It ended up that the feeling of hunger was more tolerable than the vomiting. So I hardly ate. I sipped water (tap water - which I now realise was giving me stomach wind so now I only drink bottled) and nibbled on plain water crackers or dry nutra grain. I had to lie STILL after eating anything.
I was on Maxalon which for me did nothing to help. Tried Sea Bands - but they were no match. I didn't take any multivitamins b/c they made me nauseous.

I also found that low fat milk and friut juice were instant puke foods.

Hope you feel better soon.
