Just thought we could let each other know some of the products we have tried and would recommened or not

I'll start

Breast pads - so far have i tried Pigeon and J&J
i like the pigeon better as it's thinner and has a bigger surface area...good for massive hooters:thumbsup: ...i found the J&J ones were to thick and you could see lumps in your top and they left fluffy bits on my nips:thumbsdown:
Anyone thought of getting washable ones????
Im already spending a fortune on B/Pads

Wipes - At first we were using huggies...but this week we have tried J&J and found them alot nicer...they seem softer and not so moist...and the light fragrance is sweet

I agree Nic
Pigeon breastpads rock:thumbsup:
Avent ones suck:thumbsdown:
Washable ones suck too, they don't take the moisture away like the sposies:no:

I haven't tried J&J wipes, will now though...We've been using huggies:yes:

I second J&J wipes...when we use disposable wipes that's what we use. DD1 reacted terribly to Huggies wipes.

Thanks for the breast pad rec! I bought J&J one's cause they were great last time but they changed their design and they suck!

Can't recommend anything else...we don't use bath stuff, don't use disposable nappies, don't use disposable pads, and we don't use dummies and no bottles either.

Yep, spending a fortune on b/pads here too.

Have tried Pigeon, RiteAid, and both J&J one's - the purple and the pink boxes. Like Rite Aid and Pigeon for same reasons as above, hated the J&J purple box - hate the fluff left on nip nips. Love the pink box though - bit more absorbent, nicer shape and not as much bunch up given my smaller boosies.

I've found the same on the wipes - love the J&J ones. Tried the Angel (i think) brand that just came in at BigW. First lot weren't perforated between each wipe properly, so needed 2 hands to separate which was a pain. Second lot weren't so bad. Am using Swisspers at the mo', 'cos they were cheap, and am finding them good too, comparable to the J&J.

Rite Aid breast pads are great and mega cheap compared to the others - I liked them much better than the Avent ones and they are thrid of the price.

I like Curash fragrance free wipes - I am trying not to use any perfumed ones yet so he is less likely to get rashes

I also like the Avent baby wash and the magic cream is really nice too. Also Gaia Natural wash is lovely and gentle.

agree with pigeon b/ps....and hate j &j ones

BEST wipes are also pigeon...if u can get them....worth it to get them.....NO RED BUMS....AND MUCH SOFTER ON SKIN

AND when we had nappy rash from my anti biotics the sudocreme was a dream....

hate: my little bed...waste of dosh (mils dosh  )

love: bonds long sleeve tops now in big w....stretchie material

hate: hate hate hate wondersuits....never putting a baby in one again...they pizz me offff

Ah I use QV wash...Love it:thumbsup:

What do you use the oil for bath also:confused:

MammyMammy
14-09-2007, 10:15
only use QV oil IN the bath....makes his bath go white and then his skin yummo

also we have the bath temp 40 to start with b/c he shivered in 37....theres our thing

JUST WANTED TO MENTION TOO:

We use "big softie" nappies for everything :

Folded into a long line and tucked into mattress - and placed under his head to collect vommies

For some times day wear nappies

For spew rags

For mopping up all sorts

For on the change mat (easier than changing the cover all the time)

For under him in bed with us (otherwise god knows what he puts on the sheets....spew boy)

For leaky boosies

For washing him...

they are awesome

xx

Love-er-leeeee....will have to try that I think...The wash is fantastic too:thumbsup:

What do you wash Hunters hair with:confused:

I LOVE Big softies...We use them heaps too...

Oh and Kevs ma bought us little muslin squares which are great too (for mopping dribbles and spewies:thumbsup: )

I've just started putting a bib on Jake when feeding...

Spastic Mummy was going through so many outfits beforehand:rolleyes: ....ddddeeeeerrrrrrr!!!!

We are using bibs too Kel, but only cottoned on to it over the weekend. can i join you in the sp. mummies club?

I keep forgetting to get Big Softies, that's on my list, thanks Mammy for other ideas on what to use them for - will be armed when DH says "why do we need them?"!

I also hate the wondersuits (hate getting the handsies in to them amongst other things), but love the little pants and tops Bonds have brought out at Big W. If only i could find the blue tops, not pink!

Breast Pads- I use wool ones when at home and they are good, also some hemp too.
When out Pigeon ones ROCK, and Avent do SUCK!!

WIPES: I use Re usable ones i made myself. Flannalette, terry and some chux ones too.
I just use plain water on her bum too.

Nappies : assorted cloth ones

Pads : Stayfree are good, also use some cloth pads i made. As flow is pretty light.

Oh, i love bonds wondersuits, but it is getting hotter in QLD so she wears the bonds footless ones.

MammyMammy
14-09-2007, 12:08
maybe its just me with the wondersuits.

In the middle of the night when we are half asleep and want to keep Hunter ASLEEEEEEEP PLEASSSSSSE the last thing I want to do is undo and remove his leggies from a wondersuit (and poor DH never quite cottoned on to how to do the studs up right anyway hhhhaaaa) - I also hate making his hand push thru the sleeve (as he hates it) and as his Mammy I have to hate what he hates LOL

Kel: Yes, Yes, Yes BIG SOFTIES Yes Yes Yes love em...also I am a huge fan of cloth bum, but only when i can be farrked

Kel: Dont pretend that you dont LURRRRVVVE changing Jake-Ey-Boyyy into new fashion each 1/2 day....LOL
We have been using a bib too here and there but milk spew ROLLS off too quick!!!! I freaken love COOOOL bibs...Hunter has a Nest one with a monkey on it and it fits his lil neck well! yah!)

(Note to all: I dont want to sound like a bloody know it all because I hate those people, but remember this tip - never ever let babies have bibs on in car !!! The only way I can see it being safe enough is when its UNDER the harness belt....not over it....I read somewhere about a baby that suffocated on a bib that the baby had knocked over its face - but of course couldnt knock it back out of the way.....) poor bubba

PS: I use J&J bedtime bath, or Otopia shampoo on Hunters hair...only every 3rd day...even though I lurrve that smell of lavender. (and before I wash his hair we have 1/2 hour of 1.brushing his hair and scalp, then oiling it up and massaging so he doesnt get cradle c R ap....(hahaha) yuk

Anyone else found anything they loathe? I am giving EVERY SINGLET to my sis for her baby when it comes....I dont like the ones that dont have press studs and go around the bummmmy....they just ride up otherwise

Oh and socks....I have found BONDS ones that ACTUALLY stay on....the others I have simply slipped right off!

clunk, step, clunk, neeeey.......oh thats me getting down from off my HIGH HORSE

LMFAO:rolleyes:

MammyMammy
14-09-2007, 12:12
oh. and I love Bambino Mio cloth nappy COVERS...they are easy to use and look comfy for Hunter, and they WORK

Not like those freaken stooopid SnappiNappy things that seem to only work when you are practising on a teddy bear...try doing it on a real bub and they are not impressed with my cruddy skills....plus i think they work better hooking to terry, which i wont use, not flanno....

NEWS FLASH: I LOVE FLANNO. I REPEAT, I LOVE FLANNO

:babydust2: i have a dream, that one day men will not be judged by the colour of their nappy, but by the content of their flanno. i have a dream:babydust2:

if i had it my way, the world would be all flanno and people could just snuggle up to flanno cars and flanno roads...ahhhhhh flanno

I have been using rite aid boobie pads and found them to be pretty good.
I use libra pads i like them the best.
Definately huggies nappies, i was given babylove and tried them yesterday but wesley pooed out the side once and wet through another time so annoying.
I use j&j top to toe in bath and for washing hair and the baby lotion for after the bath.
And sudocream when his little bottom is red.
We use avent dummies and he loves them.
I like wondersuits they look so cute on but agree they are hard to get over their hands.
Dymples cotton wraps are great they are so big and really keep wesleys little hands in the other ones he getsout of.

okay can't think of anything else atm.
Deb you can be on your high horse if you want lol.

Here, here on the Dymples wraps! They rock!

I also got a Kiddopotamus pre-done (read: lazy me) wrap with the velcro. It is awesome, there ain't no escaping that, lil' arms! That said, i bought a The Early Years one and found he easily escaped that one. Listen to me, escape this escape that - sounds like i'm talking about a jail bird or something!

We have big softies here too...use for all the same things Mammy uses them for, except as an actual nappy...have our MCN's for that. Great for the cot to catch spewies....not that she's in there for more than 5 minutes but at least I haven't had to change the sheets, just softies!

We use QV bath oil for DD1......it's what DD2 will be bathed in too....once they are sharing the same bath water. Overcooked baby still peeling so not even bathing DD2 every day. Use a Lush shampoo on DD1. DD2 just has water. J&J products dry DD1's skin out too much....we have about 5 different bottles of J&J bath stuff that have been given to us as presents.

I too have found the Rite Aid boob pads to be the best, haven't had any problems yet. I also tried the home brand ones and they seem pretty good to me as well.

I too also found the wondersuits a pain in the but to get Hamish's hand through. I am glad it is getting warmer now so I don't have to put them on him.

I am using he QV bath oil and moisturiser as Hamish starting getting really dry skin and developed a horrible rash. The lady at the chemist said it was the best to use for dry skin. She said that lots of babies are allergic to J&J wash products, so I had to stop using it.

I will write more soon baby is calling.....

Breast pads - I have used both the pigeon ones and the rite aid ones... The rite aid ones are just as good as pigeon, but so so much cheaper...

Wipes - Am using huggies wipes at the moment. No problems so far, though may try J&J wipes, I have some of them as well!

Formula - I was using S26 but it made Aston constipated so I am now using Heinz Nurture... So far no problems..

Bottles and Dummies - We are using the Avent ones. He seems to have no dramas with either of them...

Bonds Suits/Suits in general - I love them! But, yeh... I do have trouble getting his hands in which is a pain.. But apart from that, no dramas...

Aston has also started using bibs..

As for pads, whatever... Not really any lochia these days anyway....

Bonds socks are the only ones that stay on, DD is too big for her 000 wondersuits now and I wont get any more, am happy with target all in ones for night and I dress her up in the day too!!

Calendula oil form weleda for the bath, it is lovely!

All sorts of cloth nappies here too!

I love my terry flats for spews too and I put small bunnyrugs under DDs head in the cot to decrease the sheet changing too!

Mammy; snappis dont work on flanellete, only terry, I am glad your cover works well!

Wipes, cloth or coles homebrand, they are excellent! If I use a disposable it is an Aldi one
Dummies, Happy Baby, cheap and stay in the mouth well

I make my own wraps, so they are big enough and in cute patterns

Hmm thats it for now!

same here Carmen as we usually only use Gaia Natural Baby bath products
Although I've actually just been using sorbelene on Pearl at the moment- she had very dry skin and now we're on bore water that's pretty salty & drying.

I like the Avent breast pads when we're away for a few days but use bamboo & wool washable ones at home- can not remember where I got them though.

J&J wipes for us- I get the huge carton from BigW and put them in a Huggies plastic container for ease of use.

Love the Monstar brand wraps  they are huge and I love the patterns.

I love bonds wondersuits...Ava has really ticklish feet so you just touch the end of her toes and her legs spring up so you can just slip them out...and we have the hand thing all figured out now...you just tug lightly on either side and her little fingers pop right out then just pull her hand through...they are so cuddly mmm

I dont have a nappy wrapper but i love nappy sacks they are lightly scented and neutralise odours...(sounds like im doing product endorsements)

Huggies nappies at the mo...they are great...
I cant be bolloxed using the Baby Beehinds nappies that we spent $700 on...if anyone wants them let me know...am i allowed to say that????

Ok bought the rite aid breast pads yesterday...hate them! Are the pigeo one's the same size? They're way too big for my little boobies so were all squashed and wrinkly in my bra. Pulled them back out straight away. And what is the go with all the wrapping they used? Sheesh...what a waste!

Back to J&J one's for now...my boobs are behaving themselves but I've been caughtout a couple of times so still need to have some around.

Mammy only had two leaks so far....one in the parent's room when out shopping. Here I am feeding DD on one side, tissue over the other. Then on the weekend...finished feeding DD but boobs decided to just keep going and had to change bra and top so not quite able to say bye to breast pads altogether but hopefully soon cause they are such pita's!

I know Julius ended up being born in july. But I wanted to add a review for breast pads, Ive tried...

J&J
Pigeon
rite aid
swippers
Homebrand

J&J-bulky but hold pretty well.
Pigeon- The best by far, very comfy.
rite aid- okay but I found they filled up fast & needed lots of changing, the wetness of them against my skin caused major discomfort.
Swippers- same as rite aid, held a lot less though
Home brand -are cheaper, but each breast pad comes wrapped & I dont like having to try to rip them out of the plastic, what a waste.

All up I spent 40 dollars dead end money on disposable breast pads.Plus I got alot for free but yeah...I felt so wasteful doing this & I couldnt afford it.

I bought some hemp breast pads online.I love them!!!! the convience of having them right where I need them & not at the shops. They are so much more breathable, and so absorbant.I love them.
