Hi All!
I just had the most bizarre reaction to a flight, so thought I'd share my experience and see if anyone else has experienced this. I'm 32 weeks and was advised by my OB that I was fine to fly domestically up to 36 weeks, as I've had a very easy pregnancy with no side effects at all. My DH and I had a "last hurrah" trip to Italy when I was 24-27 weeks and I had no issues...a little bit of swelling on the way home after the 27 hours of flights/airport waiting, but nothing serious.
Anyway, I flew from Melbourne to Sydney in the morning for a client meeting, then back again in the afternoon. I was feeling a bit puffy when I got home, and when I woke up in the night I noticed I felt "tight" in my joints. When I woke up in the morning I resembeled a sausage, or a balloon person. My hands, feet, knees and face had all swollen up to a ridiculous size. I called my OB right away, and he said it happens sometimes, and that I should just sit/lay with my legs up on a stack of cushions, and it would go down.
Well it took one and a half days to fully deflate, but all is back to normal now. Given I hadn't experienced any swelling of ankles or feet before that time it was a total shock, but after 2 days back at work it looks like I'm back to normal. Still, pretty wierd, so thought it worth mentioning. Has anyone else experienced this?
