Hi All!

I just had the most bizarre reaction to a flight, so thought I'd share my experience and see if anyone else has experienced this. I'm 32 weeks and was advised by my OB that I was fine to fly domestically up to 36 weeks, as I've had a very easy pregnancy with no side effects at all. My DH and I had a "last hurrah" trip to Italy when I was 24-27 weeks and I had no issues...a little bit of swelling on the way home after the 27 hours of flights/airport waiting, but nothing serious.

Anyway, I flew from Melbourne to Sydney in the morning for a client meeting, then back again in the afternoon. I was feeling a bit puffy when I got home, and when I woke up in the night I noticed I felt "tight" in my joints. When I woke up in the morning I resembeled a sausage, or a balloon person. My hands, feet, knees and face had all swollen up to a ridiculous size. I called my OB right away, and he said it happens sometimes, and that I should just sit/lay with my legs up on a stack of cushions, and it would go down.

Well it took one and a half days to fully deflate, but all is back to normal now. Given I hadn't experienced any swelling of ankles or feet before that time it was a total shock, but after 2 days back at work it looks like I'm back to normal. Still, pretty wierd, so thought it worth mentioning. Has anyone else experienced this?

thanks for the info...i'm about to fly to melb in 4 weeks, that'll make me 33 weeks.
my ob also told me it was fine to fly as i'm medically ok, but didn't mention any other side effects. mum did tell me that cabin pressure can do funny things to pregnant women...she was hinting that after our little trip, i might not go full term. fingers crossed hey!!!! :D
