Longies

Whats a reasonable price to pay for a pair of longies? I have seen some for like $50 and think its a little steep or is this normal?

I think they take something like 20 hrs to knit or something :eek: So $50 is a bargain! But I know what you mean, it's expensive for any item of kid's clothing type thing.
Flongies are much cheaper :yes:

I have seen some new ones on Ebay for about $20, they look fantastic. Infact I have bought knitted soaker off one of the sellers and am really happy with it. Have a look anyway, I bought from Brit. Good luck!

Depending on the quality of wool used, whether they are soakers, shorties or longies, if they are embellished ect.. then no $50 to me is reasonable considering the amount of time it takes someone to knit them up.

I paid $110 for a pair of longies for Dakota and I'm more than rapt with that price considering what they are and how much time and effort has been put into them.

Flongies would be a cheaper option which are fleece pants. Doesn't take long to whip up a pair or them if you have a sewing machine :thumbsup:

I bought some longies and paid $59 for them said they were wool but they arent they are more so alot like acrylic so really disappointed i spent so much for horrible acrylic when i thought they would be wool :( I dont mind paying if the quality is there though guess my first purchase put a dampner on things.

I can sew so will make some flongies too now i know what they are LOL

$50 is cheap!

think of the work that goes into it.
they should charge more!
some of the woman that make them hand dye all there wool as well
alot of time and effort goes in them!

Ds has a pair i paid $60 for and the woman that made them dyed them knitting them and embellished a mouse in a car on the back!

with these types of things you get what you pay for.
yes you can get them cheaper but its generally not great wool.

things like the kozy designs are cheap around $30 for longies, but they are made in china and the wool is very thin :(

where as something for $50 is Australian wool, and made by a WAHM in Australia.


even if you did learn to knit, you'd be looking at paying around $40 for good quality hand dyed wool to make longies

That's so disappointing PB, did they advertise them as wool? It sounds a bit suss really, they need to be wool to work well... bummer :hugs:

Yep they advertised them as pure wool knocked down from $69 to $50 i thought thats not bad till i got them. I showd my mil as she used toknit all the time so knows her wool, she was it was acrylic:(

like i said i will pay for quality but i was suprised at what i got for what i spent so was hoping that next time i get good ones not synthetic rubbish

$50 is cheap as long as they are nice wool and good quality.

Knitting is incredibly labour intensive and if you want something cheap then look for machine knitted longies or second hand ones.
