Hi, am new to this forum...even thou don't have bub yet (3 weeks to go!) am completely obsessed with all the cloth nappies I have stocked up on ready for his birth! (so glad to see some like minded people on here too - hubby just doesn't seem to get it as much!! )...now am on to knitting soakers and longies. My questions is...
I really want to knit the free Aubrey Doodlepants pattern I have seen on the net, but it doesn't give sizes (you need to measure your bub) and I want to finish the knitting before bub arrives. Does anyone have a copy of this pattern with the actual sizes or ones they've used?? I expect to have a fairly big bub (runs in family...ouch!) and want to knit several pairs.
Would appreciate any answer!
Thanks guys! :yelclap:

Why dont you do a gauge and work out the stitches per inch and work from that? Or I just guesstimate.

I can give you some ballpark figures to work with based on work I've done previously.

Small - Hip 14" Rise 14" Inseam (longies) 6"
Medium - Hip 16" Rise 16" Inseam (longies) 8"

Then you just need to do the math, depending on which yarn ply you are using :)

Hope that helps :)

I'm a lazy knitter, NEVER do a gauge swatch even though I know I'm supposed to :o  and I started by knitting the Aubrey Doodlepants pattern. I freak out when I see any mention of 'math' when it comes to knitting!!

I knitted it to the pattern, using their example of a medium that's already there in the pattern.
I used 8 ply yarn though, which is not what the pattern requires, although i didn't know this at the time. So I ended up with a pair that was way too small for my 9 month old.

But I reckon it would have been perfect for her when she was less then 6 months old...
You could try that?

Oh and have you learnt how to do short rows yet? This pattern uses them and while I found them tricky to learn, I would NEVER knit a pair of longies, shorties or a soaker without putting in short rows now that I know how to do them... gives a fantastic fit
PM me if you are stuck, I have a great link for you with pictured instructions that if you follow, you can't go wrong, just can't post it here :)

Thanks to both of you, that's exactly what I needed...I will get onto them as soon as I've finished the soakers and shorties I'm doing!!! Thanks again!
