How does everyone else do this with their toddlers? Chloe is managing so far but I'm not sure I'm taking the right approach.

Chloe has been a bit bored of her "baby" wooden board puzzles so for Christmas I got her 6 little puzzles with only 3 to 5 pieces each. She can mostly do them, and now she has two puzzle books where each page has a set of pieces to lift out and then put back together. One of the books has a copy of the picture directly underneath so that the pieces can be matched on top. The other book has a small copy of the picture on the opposite page for reference. The 2nd book seems harder. For each one I start her by only taking 2 or 3 pieces out of each page, and then working up to doing the whole page of 12 pieces. She can't quite do that on her own yet.

Does anybody have any other suggestions or tips?

Edit - on the weekend we also bought her a set of 9 blocks with part of a separate picture on each side, so that you can form 6 different pictures of farm animals. She loves it, but doesn't seem able to find the right side of each block to be able to form a picture. Even when I help and hand her the block telling her (for example) "there's the cow's head" she rotates it around and won't form the picture. So I think these types of puzzles are a bit more advanced, even though I'd have thought them easier before I saw her trying it.

Does your local libary have a toy libary attached. I found it great for when the girls got to use to the puzzles we had at home. Chloe seems to be doing very well though.

Jacinta has always loved and been quite good a jig saw puzzles. I started to show her how to do them by sitting with her the first few times and explaining how to look for peices that go together (if that makes sence?)Eg we look for peices with the same colours or another part of the object.
As she started doing larger puzzles I then taught her to start with the border peices.:)
This is the way we do it I hope this helps
