View Full Version : Question would you consider our embryos hypothetically.
Hi ladies,
This is completely hypothetical currently. We have 9 embryos stored as we did ICSI so the eggs were fertilised. So it is completely our genetic material.
Would you consider a donation of an embryo if this was the case??
Also my DH has had leukaemia when he was 21would this put you off??
We won't be donating our eggs for five years because we want to be sure as we are only 25, but we feel we would like to know what recipients think so we can plan.
Thanks

I don't have any answers as we are in the same boat. We also have nine stored and having just had our second child through ivf we are pretty sure our family is complete. We , or rather I, have real dilemmas as to what to do with our stored embryos. My hubby wants to donate them but I am worried what those children will think when they grow up knowing they have full biological siblings out there. I worry that I'll be seeing kids in shopping centres who look like ours and wondering if they are ours ...
Still, we don't believe in destroying them or donating them for research....
I'd love to hear anybody who would consider receiving a donated embryo's thoughts about it....or other ivf families with the same dilemma and their feelings too.

Speaking as a hopeful recipient, i would absolutely consider donated embryos and while the baby would be part of our family that dopes not change the fact that they are also biologically part of another family too. My personal feeling is that in this case the donating parents have every right to request regular contact or to request no ongoing contact. They are offering my family a miracle and I am very happy for them to make the decision as to what they are comfortabel with.
Having sia dthat, I also believe every child deserves to know the truth about their origins!
