D&C and Ovarian drilling anyone??

Hi ladies

Just wondering if anyone has had to have a D&C before?
I went to the gyno again yesterday to get the results of my tests.
He says I will need a D&C to sort out my prolonged bleeding after AF. I wont fall pregnant while bleeding like that as he says blood immobilises sperm.
Ultrasound shows many follicles (30 on left 22 on right) so dr has sent off for blood test to check fsh prog etc.
If it turns out that I have PCOS then while he does the D&C he will also do a laporoscopy and do some ovarian drilling to sort out all the cysts.
I looked up D&C on the net and its kind of freaked me out. All the risks of scarring and decreasing fertility. Not sure I want to go through with it now. EEEKKK

Anyone else had this done? Can anyone put my mind at ease?

I've had three D&C's (after m/c's) and although I was unaware of any stats regarding infertility, scarring etc I certainly haven't had anything negative occur from the proceedure.
I am pregnant with my sixth child and only had trouble conceiving due to age and after effects of horrid contraceptive, this time around

I have had 2 d+cs in my time - one when I was about 19 year of age (suspected endo, didn't have it, but they did the d+c anyway), and after my DD was born when I had some retained placenta.

My understanding is its quite a safe procedure, with minimal side effects, unless there's something else going on (ie scar tissue in your uterus that it could worsen).

I'd just wait to have a chat with your gyno/obs - and STOP googling! Its not good!

I had a d&c as well as Laproscopy last year as I also had a bit of bleeding here and there....they didn't find anything it just did a cleane-out and made sure there was nothing else...blocked tubes, cycts, kidney abnormalities, liver abnormalities, etc etc...evrything on the inside we can't check from out here. I agree with Tam - stop googling and call up your FS and ask for more info!!!

I have had two D&C's and a laproscopy. I wasnt aware at the time of any risks to infertility, but after my second, i was pregnant 5 weeks later with my DS.

You should have more of a chat you your doctor about it, it may put your mind at ease. It can be a really scary time, i hope everything works out.:hugs:

I had a d&c back in March because of m/c and I didn't have any problems. I got my AF 5 weeks later, it was heavier than normal but after that the others have been normal. I am still TTC but my cycles have been regular and as far as I know I have been Oing.

I think as long as you have an OB who you can trust, there's no probs.

Like the other girls said, stop googling - trust me, it does your head in! :rolleyes:
