Has anyone had a baby at these hospitals? Can you tell me if you liked the experience or not and what sort of birth you had?
Thanks:wizard:

I worked at Monash and i can say that for facilities and knowlage is second to non, it is famous for neonatal care. I dont know what it is like to have a baby there though. There neonatal staff are great and midwives too but all nurses are a bit odd, you could always get a grumpy one lol were all human.
I have been to dandenong a couple of times but couln't really comment. lol
sorry i'm not being very helpful.
I had both of my DS's at Monash Clayton
My first came early and was unwell, I also had a massive Haemorrage, both myself and my DS were dealt with fast and brilliantly, I cannot praise them enough ! I had a drug free and active labour with him.
My second DS was on time and well.. My labour was fast and drug free and active
The midwives were all brilliant
I had my DD at Monash Clayton and i have to say that i found the care brilliant. Both before during and after my DD was born.
I had to have an emergency c section and felt fully informed of every aspect of what was going to happen. They tried to let me labour naturally as that is what i wanted. But when it came down to the crunch it turned out a c section was necessary, it wasnt forced on me or anything they told me from the outset (my DDs heartrate was dropping with contractions from the beginning of labour) that the c section may be necessary.
The midwives were great and were more than happy to help me with anything or any questions that i had for them. Couldnt be happier.
I will hopefully be having my second baby there too.

Thanks:wizard: hello i live in narre warren i had my son at sandringham, only because i had my first there but i was very disapointed the second time there as it has changed, its an old hospital, but my best friend had her baby at the new casey hospital in i think its classed as narre warren or berwick i was so jelouse when i went to visit her as you get you own room a double bed, your partner can stay the night and it has a bathroom and toilet like a mini house, like what you would get if you were on private health care..
i would definately have my next baby there.. any way good luck with the labour..

i didnt like sandringham either, they tend to assume if you have had a baby you dont need to be seen too which sucked :(
Dandenong is soooo nice, the rooms are nicer than Monash and the staff were amazing too.
I had my first their, so i have to say they were brilliant, i toured both of the hospitals and i have to say i prefered the more intimate rooms of Dandenong than Monash 3 -4 in a room, also it was very homey. Everyone i know that has had their baby at Dandenong have nothing but good experiences. Also the Maternity ward is relatively new.
I suggest for you to tour both hospitals then make your decision but as for care they are bothe equal.
