Help with pain Im having

Im 36 weeks pregnant and in the last couple of days in particular (it has happened before but only occasionally) I have felt a pain in my belly a couple of inches to the right of my belly button in an area about the size of a tennis ball. It just happens to be around the area where the baby's but or back or something hard is normally sitting (she is normally head down with her body on that right side and all her hands and feet to the left).

The pain went on for a while on Saturday overnight, felt it a few times again on Sunday but this evening I have been feeling the pain on and off for about the last 2 hours. It is not a pain strong enough to double me over or anything but it is certainly quite a noticable pain, like a stitch like stabbing pain. It doesnt last very long but because it is happening so often at times it feels almost constant.

I have not had any bleeding.

Hubby wants me to call my ob but Im of the opinion that unless i have any bleeding it shouldnt be anything to worry about... should it? (I do have an appointment with him on Thursday)

Bubs is still moving around as normal.


Does anyone have any ideas or have experianced somthing like this themselves?

Hi there

Im 38weeks with my second bub and have those pains on occasions myself.

It kinda feels like apendicitis or something and a stitch is really the closest explanation I can give to my hubby too.

Apparently all it is is you stomach muscles stretching and doing what ever they do in there to accomodate the growing baby.

I find the pain can last a while and sometimes nothing you can do can ease it.

ahhhh the things we go through..

The second time around for me has been worse in the pain department. I have felt for weeks that I am going to lose all my insides out my Vagina... everything down there just aches most of the time...

sounds like it could be some kind of streaching, or bubs is sitting or pushing on some nerves which can cause pain like that

if you wanna feel more at ease ring you ob, sounds to me that its nothing, but better to be safe than sorry

i get a sharp pain besides my belly botton (acually was besides, now is just above). it is bubs knee pressing on me from the insides. the feeling is like someone elbowing you. i think it is because bub's knee is always pressing in the same spot.... also have it on my left hip.
i've found that the spot is tender to press on too, and usualy bubs will move it if i prodd him/her.

Perhaps its pressure i have a shocking pain on my left like just behind my hip bone it lingers all the time i find that if i lay on my side (opposite side) with my leg up to my chest well as far as i can get it LOL past the belly, it tends to ease alot

HOpefully its just bubs pushing where it is uncomfy

I had the same during my last pregnancy - or at least it sounds the same :) Apparently it was caused by the stomach muscles tearing, rather than separating nicely :) It was quite excruciating at times, but very isolated.

Thank you all for your replies to help ease my mind. I saw my Ob today and he advised that it would have been just the muscles stretching and being put under a bit of pressure where the baby was pushing on them.
