We have been having seperatation problems - well that is what I think it is with our ds - 10 1/2mths old.

I don't want to get into a in and out of the pros and cons of CC but want to state that I don't want to do it but what we are trying to do with ds feels like cc.

I have just feed ds and he was completely out to it and went to put him in bed and he woke up screaming normally I would remove him from his cot and comfort him and put him back to sleep and half and hour try to put him in his cot and normally he is fine but not lately.

Last night I had left the room and dh put him to sleep with a lot of screams from ds. DS wasn't by himself he was being talked to, held, patted etc well tonight we are doing the same thing, are we doing the right thing?? He is really upset is he going to feel distant from me for not being there??

Controlled crying involves leaving them on their own for increasing periods of time. If one of his parents is with himm, providing comfort, you aren't controlled crying him - you are comforting him with no time limits and it is unlikely to hurt him IMO. Dads can provide love and comfort as much as mums.
