Elective c/s at how many weeks?

I'm just curious to what the average time time for elective c/s are. By her EDD Sarah was born at 39 weeks - but as it turns out she was pretty over cooked by then.

I've heard from other friends that their hospitals/Obs usually for for 38 weeks.

I'm just interested in the numbers, please keep it on track :)

My DD was born by elective c/s at 39 weeks.
I'm due to have my 2nd baby also by elective c/s at 39 weeks, in exactly 3 weeks time!!

My DD wasn't overcooked by then, she was a healthy but small 6 lb 4 oz, and I've been told that this baby will be bigger, so we'll see.

my csect was not elective it was scheduled for medical reasons. I voted 38w but she was 38w5d by hosp dates or 38w6d by scan dates... so almost 39

next time ive been told they'll do my scheduled csect at 36 or 37 weeks due to medical reasons

At 38w5/6d my daughter was a nice healthy 7lb5.5ounces 3350grams

Mine is technically booked in at 37w and 5d but only because the hospital only does them on a Friday and the Dr didnt want to wait until 38w and 5d :)

My Ob did my csection 10 days early so i was 38.4 weeks and she was 8lb9, 49.5 cms, h/c 36.2cm

DD1 was 9 days early

Jedd was born by elective c/s at 39wks + 1 day

DD1 arrived 12 days early via a spontaneous VB so I was booked in for DD2 C-section at 38 wks 2 days (from memory :eek: )

Lily was delivered a nice and healthy 3.86kg at 37w6d.
I was originally booked in for my c/s at 39w3d but it was brought forward.

mine was done at 36 weeks.

By the way - you haven't allowed the option of multiple caesars. Practices have changed slightly in the time I had my first seven years ago (was booked for 38 weeks but waters broke at 37) to my 4th four months ago (booked for 39 weeks). :)

My DD was a scheduled elective C section. She was due on the Friday 25th March 2005 and the gyno opted for Monday 21st. He wanted to do it at 39 weeks but was booked out on the Friday and away over the weekend. So Monday it was. She was 8 pound 7 and perfectly healthy. I have no regrets.

My "little" man was born 38 weeks, he was originally schedule for 39 weeks but I was so huge my OB thought I'd pop (or felt sorry for me) so bought it forward a week.

DS was born a healthy 4.26kg or 9 pound 6 ounces with no problems at all.
