Hi all--

Today i decided to try the Heinz formula with Imy- she drank it happily and seemed quite content but tthen at bed time it took me 1 1/2 hrs to settle her- which is unusual? lots of screaming and tears! Very unhappy bubba!

What i'm wonderng is could this be as a result of the new formula??

Has anyone else had his problem???

Any advise or repolies would be apprieciated!

Bubs has been on this formula since he got home from hospy with no dramas at all but that being said doesnt mean your lo will be the same.
My thing would be to ask whether you did a dramatic swap ? As in did you only give her one bottle to try for the first few days or did you change it all over in one go as this could be the problem. When changing formula you need to change it one bottle a day for a few days then with no problems keep adding an extra bottle till all of them per day are the new formula.
I was told the heinz is a thicker formula which is why we had bubs on it as well as the costs but maybe she is getting rid of her wind.
But just remember it does take a good 2wks for them to get used to a formula change so try to bear with it for now & if she gets worse or rejects it then i would go back to your old one as too much changing can do more harm than good.
Good luck :)

I am just changing my DD over onto it at the moment but i am doing it slowly. At the moment i am giving it only for her morning bottle then i will give her 2 for the next few days then give it to her all the time.

So... I am meant to give her one bottle- for a few days then 2 then 3 etc???

I only gave her the 2 last night and now i've stopped as we had a crappy night! Up and down all night!

So should i give 1 today, 1 tomorrow and see how that goes??

i dont think her being grumpy was the result of the formula as my bub has been on it for the past 3months and i just gave it to her for feeds during the day and at night feed her breast milk but now its straight formula 4-5 bottles a day 200mls each time as shes 5 months old plus soild food.

maybe you should just stick to it there is no harm done you may just be abit sleepy if she grumpy.

I think if you are transitioning to a new formula to do it slowly so it has less chance of effecting them. My DD is also unsettled at the moment usually a very happy baby as she is getting her first two bottom teeth. Could it be teething?

i would say it has to be her teeth. some baby's get really grumpy when they get there teeth and others you dont even know.

so yes to the teeth and no to the formula

Hi Shannon

though my DS is a breast baby he has had formula also, and currently having one bottle for his last feed of the day.

He was taking the S26 easily no problems at all, then the next one i got i thought i would try the Heinz(cause it's a little cheaper), he doesn't like it at all! I don't know if formulas have different taste's or what but he was doing the upset time at night and not really happy. I decided last night it was the formula...

So maybe try a different formula thats what i'm going to do.

Good Luck

yes formula's are different they all have a different base
ie cows milk, goats milk soy milk ect so look for that when you change that may be the reson why

Yep it needs to be done slowly otherwise it upsets their little tummies so have the one different formula for a few days then have two & so on until they change over completely. Its helps them transition easier but as i said before 2wks is usually the norm to see if they accept it or not as they will be a little out of sorts from the change over even when doing it this way.
I tried he dramatic change over when bubs was really little & i felt so guilty as he was not a happy chappy so went to the CHN who aadvised me to do it this way & this helped but was still out of sorts but by the 3rd week he was fine & happy.
This is because all formulas are different & Heinz is a thicker heavier formula compared to some which helps with bigger babies or big eaters.
Good luck :)
