 Everyone,

Im writing to ask if anyone can help out with some information.. Due to suburb constraints and the position we live, Im not allowed to go to the Mercy hospital in Heidelberg Heights. I was hoping to go there as they have seem to have a great hospital and great birthing centre and also a great CMP programme for what I have been told.

We live in Craigieburn and have been told our only option is to go to epping hospital- the northern hospital. They do not have a CMP program.. you see the midwives on at the time, and with assisted appointments by an ob at certain weeks and thats about it.

My first birth I went through a CMP program in Darwin and found it to really suit me and my needs and really would like to do this again.

Does anyone know of any CMP programs that run for this area? and or if there is a way I can try get my self onto the some what busy and suburb related lists of the mercy womans hospital?? I know they must do this as they are having huge intakes and driving distance ect.. but I really would like the CMP care they provide.

Thanks for anyone help! :D

I didnt even realise we had any CMP in Melbourne. As far as I was aware, there were no suburb restraints placed on birth centres. I know I had no problems getting into the RWH one 6 years ago, or the Monash BC 3 years ago..

Ill look into the RWH as the doctor I have seen has told me I have to go to the northern... And this is due to the suburb thing.. weird..

Yes so far I have found no CMP programs in melbourne.. I wonder why this is??? I guess its because you go to a BC?? Im not sure as this is the first time Ive lived in a big city and when your new to somewhere its hard to find out all the little tid bits :D

Ok thanks for your reply, and have a great day.

I luckily live in Heidelberg, but when I called the hospital, before they would answer my questions about he birth center and stuff, they asked me where I lived (which I asked why straight away being the suspicious person I am) and they explained that due to demand they had to
only take patients in their area (just for birthing).

Makes sense to me. I would be really annoyed living 1 block away from the Mercy and being told they were too full (of people from Caufield or somewhere far away) and then having to travel to another hospital.

I had no idea that other hospitals didn't offer what the Mercy offers, though!!
GOOD LUCK IN YOUR SEARCH!
