In the last week, my 12 week old DS has started crying during his bath. It's not just a grizzle, but the full-on red-faced distressed cry. When it's happened, I've quickly finished washing him and taken him out. Once dried and dressed he's all smiles again.

Since birth DS has absolutely loved his bath - smiles, giggles etc, so we really can't understand why he now seems to hate it.

Any suggestions as to why this might be happening ? Is it a stage he's going through ??

ozzy did this at about the same age - really horrible crying, very distressed... i ended up giving him one facecloth to play with while i used the other one to wash him - he shoves it in his face sucks and the water out of it (we don't use any soapy type stuff) and gets it all tangled up in his hands. don't know if that'll help in your case but it worked for us - good luck!

I cover my little bloke with a face washer over his tummy. It instantly stops the distress, and he lays there relaxing in his tub.

Yeh i went thru the same thing with roxy too-
I just found that she had 'learnt' the routine and on the days when she was maybe more tired she'd start up screaming in the bath and I think its so that the routine would get moving (ie dressed - book - feed then bed) - she is much better now though - I just have to keep a REAL close eye on her signs :)

a fashwasher on there tummys is great though too

My little one did the same thing but he was older at the time. I worked out that one night, he had had a bit of nappy rash and it obviously hurt when I put him in the water. He then became scared of the bath and it took about 2 weeks before he was happy in there again and didn't associate it with pain.:(

Hi

BJ did the same thing at that age, and I put it down to he knew that what was coming next. A FEED. They pick up on there routine pretty quick.

You could tey feeding first then bath, I just persevered and he soon got over it, and is back to loving his bath time with daddy.

Hope this has helped

Thanks to everyone for their suggestions.

I tried the face washer over his belly tonight and it seemed to keep him calm. No tears tonight !!
