Formula to cows milk

Jakob is nearly 1 (scary I know) and I was wondering, if he is not allergic to formula then is he likely to be allergic to cows milk? He eats cheese and yoghurt with no effect. What reactions should I look out for?

Also how did others wean their babies off breastmilk/formula?

Hi Sarah,

If you have milk allergies in your family then I would consult your GP. If you don't have allergies then I would try introducing it a little at a time. I usually use cow's milk in their cereal first. Try that for a few days and then replace one bottle or cup at a time until they are switched over. I never had any problems with either of my children when it came to changing from formula to cow's milk. Hope that helps! :D

Grace has changed over now that she is one. I agree with Michelle, if there is a milk allergy in your family discuss it with your doc first. However, if not just change over, it took us less than one week. :)

I agree with the above, as unless your bub was on a specialised (e.g. soy) formula, most formulas are based on cow's milk anyway.

Have sucessfully changed over to cow's milk. No problems at all :)
