Or am I just fooling myself?
Today was D day - or CC day - All week I've been working up to get ready to teach bub to put himself to sleep - we've had a few failed attempts and a few sort of sucesses but I need to know maybe he's working it out for himself anyway.
I decided to start this morning so that it was just the 2 of us at home and didn't have to deal with a humpy DH. This morning bub was tiring out during Sesame street as usual so I put him to bed (in his cot which is in our room by the way) and he rolled onto his side straight away (this is how he likes to go to sleep now) and started to close his eyes - I shoved the dummy in and off he went.
Nap number 2 - we were out shopping and he started to grizzle so we headed home and he fell asleep in the car (no dummy) I carried him upstairs and he woke up so I shoved the dummy in and once again off he went.
This afternoon (always the hardest nap of the day) I kept him up a bit longer but he was still kicking and carrying on when I laid him down - I let him grizzle and then cry for about 10 minutues - going in twice to console him - then I put his dummy in and he rolled onto his side and shut his eyes - I left the room just before he went off completely.
Now technically I guess using the dummy isn't correct but is he putting himself to sleep? Wait before you answer - last night he woke up twice - 9.30pm for a feed then again just before 3 am and fed then as well. I heard him wake up again around 4.30 - he grizzled a bit and yawned (surely we can't yawn while we are asleep) then went off to sleep - no dummy.
Is he working it out for himself do you think? He's just gone 20 weeks and he has 3 daytime naps usually 40mins each in length.
