Yes we had one, about 4 months after we got engaged.
We invited everyone, including all our family and all our fiends because we weren't sure if we were going to invite everyone to the wedding. (thinking of a small wedding)

We had one... Inlaws paid for it as they pushed the issue for one.

We figured, let them have the party, that way they couldn't interfere with the wedding :p MIL tried, but didn't succeed :p

We had a small one, a buffet lunch at a "Country Club" Just family, small group of friends and our Boss's and their wives.

We had a engagment party, we had about 60 guests at my parents place-its was a great nite. We were engaged for about 2years-coz we were short on cash for the wedding:thumbsup:

Dh proposed to me in early November (melb cup weekend) then we had our Party on Christmas eve!!
We hired a hall (had long tables that seated around 10-12, food was catered (buffee) with a Dj.
Around 100 guests.
Paid for by both sides of parents...(i think we paid for the Dj and decorations).

nope didnt see the point in making others or us spend more money when money was going to be spent on the wedding. Not fair on them or us when we are on one income and have 3 kids :D

Yes we had an engagement party it was five months after he proposed and we invited family and close friends (60). We had it up stair in a hotel in Hobart we hired a karaoke machine and my Mum provide the food, and the guest payed for their own drinks.

I think engagement parties are beautiful and important therefore should be celebrated. Even its just drinks with a few close friends or dinner with just the family.
Its a celebration of two people who have decided to commit to each other...etc etc
Big in my family esp when most of us live at home before getting married!

Been engaged since Feb this year and we still havent had one.

We were planning one, but money got too tight trying to save for a wedding, house etc...

I think if anything we would have just taken the family, ie my parents, inlaws, siblings and grandparents out to dinner somewhere and had a nice cake.

According to 'wedding ettiquette' the engagement party should be 6 mths before the wedding.

We will be - got engaged early august and will have party here at home at end of november. We are inviting family and friends so far invite list is approx 80 people - but we only expect about 50 at the party. We are having a spit roast caterer and paying for it all ourselves. We will not be having this many people at our wedding which may not be until 2009. For us its just a great way to have a party with all our friends to celebrate that we are finally committed to getting married! A worthy celebration i think!!

Yes. We had ours 3 months after our engagement. We invited everyone, so that we didn't have to invite evryone to the wedding (though I am sure we just about did :rolleyes: )

Our engagement party was held by my parents on their farm a couple of hours away, and was combined with a house-warming for them. Not many people we actually knew together, but ah well, it was fun! And we didn't pay for it, lol.

We got engaged on the 1st December 2006 and we decided to have our engagement party in March because that's when df's sister was coming down from Derby(we are in Perth) we thought it would be nice to celebrate it then.

We had a smallish party but alot turned up lol we didn't expect so many people to be there.They were mostly family and friends.So it was a total of 3-4 months that we waited.

Yep we had a fantastic engagement party!!! We had it 2 months after we got engaged.. We had it at my mum and her partners place.. It was just so beautiful!!! My mum and grandmother catered for it, there were flowers and candle and fairy lights everywhere.. It was magical!!!Valentine

Yes, we had one 3 months after we got engaged and it was awsome! We hired the local surf club and had a buffet style dinner and had karaoke. DH got up and sang 'Michelle' by The Beatles Valentine :o :laughing: It was very memorable to say the least! I have it on video to torture him with forever!

We had just bought our first house and were moving in the week after so everyone bought us eveything we needed to fill it as presents!

We were engaged for 2 years before we got married.

We had one three months after we got engaged. We invited everyone - all family and friends as we want to at least halve the list for our wedding. I wanted to have it relatively close to when we got engaged so that not everyone would have seen as and congratulated us already.

:yes: We also had an engagement party 3 months after getting engaged and it was SO much fun. We were living in Sydney at the time so we invited all our Sydney friends, some friends/family from Melbourne, some of DH's family from NZ & Melb. We had a spit roast buffet dinner & a dj and I'm told the whole evening was wonderful :smiliedance: . I remember up until about midnight, but the rest of the night is a bit of a blur :laughing:

We had a HUGE engagement party and invited everryone we knew. reasaon we had it so big was that we only wanted a tiny wedding (12 ppl) so this meant everyone was sort of involved.
