AAArgh. I put it off as long as I could, but...

I just got my FIRST tummy pat.

I've been very quiet about being pregnant but someone at work must have figured it out because the I.T. guy (the I.T. guy!!, geez) was standing next to me in the kitchen this morning when I was making my cuppa and he leaned over and patted my stomach with this grin on his face.

Needless to say, I was totally....utterly....gob...smacked.

So, its started.

Sigh.

hmmm technically it's sexual harrassment isn't it? :p

Did you pat him on the **** as he left the room... hey, it's only fair.......

I just smiled (weakly). I am going to try and get in the mindset of "not minding" the tummy pat thing otherwise I am going to end up a wreck.

My mantra..

"I don't mind, I don't mind, I don't mind".

Casting my mind back, I am sure I have patted a few pregnant tummies in my time, so its karma I suppose. I didn't realise how annoying it is.

I will never do it again!

If his wife was pg would u pat him on the testicles and congradulate him???? I think NOT!!!!!

I think IT guys used be be traditionally really ugly dorks!!!! Now they seem to be turning into BMW driving hotties!!! Was he a hottie????

I always get that "you dont look like an IT person" when I show up to design someones computer network. They seen to either expect a gut of a rough and tough looking tom buy tye women, of which of course i am neither, Its just funny how there are so many stereotypes around. DH is also an IT bod and he is definitely not a geek, and he doesnt smell!! lol:D I know what you mean though, there are some shockers out there, and I have worked with quite a few!!:)

I wasn't meaning it because he's a dork or anything! (you guys make me laugh!!) :D

I just meant it because I don't ever have any IT issues at work so I can't say he's a close work mate or anything, so it was sort of random. Like the cleaner doing it or something.

So it's the first pat on the baby belly, now you have got to make the decision whether you will allow it to continue and if not, how you will prevent it.

You kind of get used to it after a while, but I still was taken aback when it was a complete stranger (and I especially hated men who pat your lower belly - watch where your heading with that hand! )

At 29 week preggers, I can honestly say I have never had a tummy pat except from one or two very close friends who ASKED FIRST!!! Maybe it's because I don't have a 'real' job so I'm not in that kind of environment.

One gay friend was just gorgeous.. it was the first time he'd seen me since being pregnant and he just stared at my belly saying 'wow' all night when he was over for dinner recently. Only as he went to leave at the end of the night did he sheepishly say 'can I touch?' and had a very brief pat. :D

No strangers have gone near my belly. Maybe as it gets bigger they will..?

You will find as your tunny gets bigger more and more random strangers in the street, shops, bus etc will come up and rub the tummy.... in the end you just give up and go with the flow...
Now I dont have a tummy I miss it... always the way!

Do people think if they rub we will bring them good luck?! We aren't little budhas (whatever the spelling is) you know.

Gee that used to really annoy me too.

Oooo I know I am in the minority here but I LOVED the tummy rub. I think I got to the stage where I was shoving my tummy into people's faces and making them rub it :D . Kind of like the reverse treatment... teehee, there is probably a thread out there on some forum saying "don't you just hate it when you have to rub pregnant ladies' tummys"! ;)

He he that's funny weird yet funny cute!

I have only had a few people touch my tummy. I am big on personal space and most people know that even my MIL sorta hovers over the tummy before I say yes you can touch me lol

I don't bite honest :D

Just got the second one - Accounts Lady this time.

She made a coochy coochy coo noise as well.

Funnily enough, I didn't really mind it this time. How fickle.

Where I work we all get along really well. So lots of people lean in to rub my belly which is weird cause I am not really showing too much at the moment, but I guess I am part of the minority because as long as they are people who I don't get a bad "vibe" from I like to think that they are just showing love and good wishes to the baby which is kinda cool. Mind you I am not too sure how I would react if a complete stranger did it.. guess it could still work on the vibe thing. :D
