Hi everyone,
I am moving to the GC from England arriving on 28th February. Really looking forward to my nerw life.
I am coming with my DH and two DS - 6 weeks and 22 months.
We are not really sure where to move to - looking at surfers but I have never been to this area - any recommendations?? We have been looking on the net at Southport and Labrador - are these areas nice???? If we do would love to meet up with other mums - do people meet up a lot - how does this work?
I was really worried about finding other mums and was worried about being lonely this site has really been a godsend in taking that fear away.
I can't wait to meet people - see you soon.

my name is tanya and my family lives in labrador, i like it, its a older suburb compared to others but it suites us well as it i close to everything, there is a clinic 2 blocks away from me so if i ever need advice i can go talk to a midwife or nurse,
it really depends on your finances as some suburbs are more expensive, and of course what type of house you are after. so i think labrador is a yes and if you can afford surfers go for it.
Hi soon to be new girl,
I too am a newbie in GC, moved here from Sydney just before xmas. We moved to Runaway Bay, which is also a lovely suburb, right near major shopping centre, library, pre-schools and schools, gym etc. So far, we are really enjoying it and meeting new people goes as far as how much effort you put into fitting into your new home. I have found this bub hub to be great, I have made contact with soooo many lovely women from this area. I personally wouldn't live in Surfers but that is just because I want to live away from the city and in the suburbs, Surfers is so much fun and alot to do, but alot of people/tourists trek through there and it can get pretty busy.
Whatever happens, good luck and feel free to drop me a line perhaps we can meet up when you get settled for a coffee.

Hi
What a big move! How exciting........
I personally love the Burleigh area (like Burleigh Heads and Burleigh Waters)! It's a really beautiful suburb, really close to great beaches and still central to everything.
Really, I think most suburbs of the coast are great, well what I've seen of them anyway (I've only lived here 14 mths). You can't go wrong!
Good luck
