DH and I were putting bub to sleep last night, and as we quietened down and rocked her and went to bed ourselves making as less noise as possible,we just wondered how long it would be,when we could sleep as before, not wondering whether she would wake up at night, and generally, when we could go about things as usual, maybe catch a late night movie ....just generally, when night routines would get back to something like "before baby"..Is it when they're 2 years/3 years/4 years?Whew!
What do you think?:detective:

I guess it all depends on the child. With my DD she was in a great routine pretty early on and would sleep through any kind of noise. We could have my mum come over to babysit and we would go out and come home late at night and she would sleep through it all.

As for my DS he is only just into a routine now but a very light sleeper so it's all very much tippy toes if we do go out - mind you we do live in a tiny house with floor boards so everyone can hear everything!

Wait...scrap all of the above.... kids being the way they are you probably won't get back to normal until they are out of home!!! Oh which sadly by the time our kids are grown up and can afford a mortgage/rent etc and move out will be when they are 40:eek:

All I can say is I hope it happens sooner rather than later...:hugs:

Totally depends on baby. Ive used the same routines with all three but all have taken different times
Ds1 slept through totally from 6 weeks
Ds2 It took 3 years!
Dd About 6 months before total sleep throughs( no wakes at all, not even for a dummy resettle)

For two months now we have been able to have pre baby nights. She goes to bed at 630-7pm and nothing, not even a murmur at night till 7am each day.

Hope it happens for you soon.

Thats what its like here... We still have dvd nights and friends over etc.. DD sleeps through everything!!

I guess it totally depends on the baby...

We have been pretty lucky with DS and he will now sleep all night and once he is in bed we can pretty much make whatever noise we want and he will sleep through it (day time naps are a different story). The one major thing I think that has changed is although we can have the nights to ourselves I am constantly looking at the clock thinking we should go to bed soon because we have to be up at 7am-ish to DS, there is no chance for a sleep in for the both of us at the same time anymore.

Ive been wondering this question too lately. My DS has been terrible of late except the last 3 nights but he still came in around 2am.

personally i found out about 4 we could totally realx...than we went and had another baby lol. but i guess you got to realise that kids change everything and it will never be "like before". i mean once you solve the sleep issue it will be other issues popping up untill they leave the house
