I am orginising a baby shower for a good friend of mine but she doesnt want all the "out there fun games", like who is the fastest to change and dress the baby, or the fastest to drink the bottle of milk. She just wants a really basic but fun baby shower. I am really stuck for ideas.
I asked if she wanted to go with a theme and she wasnt interested and I know the sex of bubby but we are having colours just pale blue and pale pink.
As this is her second baby and will be her last I want this to be memorable and fun for all parties involved.
If anyone has any ideas or advice please help I am so afraid of this being a flop.
She is a special friend and I really want to give her the best and most memorable shower
Thankyou
Hollie

How about a trivia quiz as a game. It's still a game, a bit of fun, but nobody has to get up and be silly, if that's what she doesn't want. You could ask questions like name the children of certain celebrities or vice versa - Name a famous persons child and ask guests to name their celebrity parent/s.

That way you're still bringing a bit of the baby shower tradition in and getting everybody involved. I think some of group activity helps bring the people at the shower together, especially if all the guests don't know each other.

That is a fantasic idea, with maybe a prize for who gets the most right.
What sort of prizes would be suitable...chocolates,??

Chocolates are a great idea...nice and easy. You could also get some candles, little photo frames or soaps from those cheap shops and wrap them in some cellaphane with ribbon.

Another shower i have been to had one of those teddy bears that you can write on and it was passed around and everyone wrote a small message on it - you could have the message intended for mum or for bubs...

Ill have to search Red Dot and King Kong and see if I can pick up some bargains.
I didnt realise how expensive throwing a baby shower is.
The bear is a great idea too. Where would u get one from though?

Hmmm, not too sure about the bears. I know i've seen them out there, but can't think where. You could maybe try red dot or something like it. Actually, maybe it was a newsagency or card specialty shop that i've seen them??? Hopefully someone else can help us out there...

For my SIL she was the same, didn't want that mcuh fuss, you could make her think it is on a certain day, but organise everyone to be at a restuarant on a different night (even a lunch time, or breakfast), decorate the table with balloons and decorations and tell her you and her are going out for a meal. The when she walks into the restuarant, she will see all the balloons, and people. Great suprise, cheap for you and alot of fun!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Those teddy bears are usually found at spotlight and such stores.

That triva game sounds like a good idea...

I was thrown a mother blessing and it was great. Every one came to pamper me. I got a foot soak & massage, painted nails massage. The women wrote letters to me and gave me candles to light during my labour (which I used and found very comforting), it was a way of celebrating my pg, the labour to come and my womanhood.

I will treasure the memories and letters always.

Before my baby shower, I got an idea from someone about doing a wall-hanging.

The idea is that everyone gets a felt square & decorates it how they wish with a selection of crafty type things. We had different coloured yarns, glitter glue, extra felt, fabric markers, sequins, etc.. In the end, you end up with a number of squares you put together into a wall-hanging for the new bub's nursery!

Mine turned out sooo well & bubs just loves it! It sits below her change table & from the day we brought her home, she has stared at it every time she gets her nappy changed. Everyone who came to the baby shower is so proud of their handiwork & feels special that something they created hangs in my baby's nursery! Also as bub gets older it'll be nice for her to know so many people made something just for her!

We knew we were having a girl, so it was done in pink & purple tones & looks fabulous in her nursery!

Let me know if anyone's interested & I can send you a pic of my finished one.
