Is this a bad period or miscarriage? (TMI)

Ok I feel like a idiot posting this but I am slighty worried. Sorry if this is TMI :(

I am on the pill and not TTC'ing yet, we are having regular sex (once every 2 days)

This morning I started spotting and cramping pretty badly which was on and off all day. Then this afternoon I got a really bad ache in my back and stabby pains in my lower stomach. On my walk home I felt damp and bled straight through my u'wear down my leg..I ran and got the bus..

Once I got home I checked and there were 2 big clots and 4 smaller ones that sorta looked darker. I am bleeding quite a bit (I can feel it) and its bright red. I am having cramps like AF but I since I am on the pill I am worrying its a miscarriage..

I have not missed any pills and I normally have the sugar pills mid month.

Has anyone experienced something similar :confused:

I can understand you feel anxious, please don't feel like an idiot! It certainly wouldn't be a pleasant experience to have to run and catch the bus because of what happened. It sounds like something else other than a normal period that's for sure. Do you still have the clots? (I know that's an awful question!). If you do maybe you could take them to the dr and find out for sure. Have you been taking any other medication like antibiotics? Or had a stomach bug? Antibiotics stop the pill from working and if you have been sick then the pill could have either came back up or gone straight through and not have been absorbed. I hope you give some answers. :hugs:

vitamin c can also stop the pill from working. best to check with your dr. hope ur feeling better

Lots of bright red blood and clots are often indications of a miscarriage, however if I were you I'd be going to the doctor and like Kadwil said, if you can get a sample of a clot you should take it to the dr for testing.

Thanks for the replies ladies.. I am feeling a bit better. I have had a viral infection and was on antibiotics about 3/4 weeks ago but the Dr said they shouldnt interfere with the Pill..

The bleeding has calmed down to what I would call a heavy period.. and I have all the associated aches and pains of AF so I think maybe the antibiotics screwed up the Pill..

I have a Dr's apointment this arvo, so hopefully they might shed some light.
