Hi, firstly thanks for answering the questions on these posts for us. We have unwired broadband as we are out of range for standard broadband and our home phone plan is through aapt. Are we able to use it with unwired broad band and do we have to keep our aapt contract? Can you also advise what sort of box etc would be needed and an estimate of cost of these. Thanks,
Margaret

Hi Margaret,
in regards to usi9ng it with Unwired the answer is Yes. Engin has actually just purchased 10% of Unwired. Anyhow yes it will work with unwired if you have a router aswell as your unwired modem. If you do not have a router we can supply you with a Linksys product that is a router and engin box all in 1. Otherwise if you already have a router then the engin box 3102 is best for you.
In regards to AAPT if you are on contract with them you will need to remain on that contract or pay the disconnection fees stated in the terms of there contract.
I hope this help.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, thanks for your reply. No, we're not on a contract with aapt so how does is work with regards to phone numbers etc? Also could you please advise the cost of the boxes. If we get the box with the router can we connect other computers eg a laptop to the broadband as well?
So many questions and not really all that computer literate either, sorry!!

Hello Margaret,
thats ok im more than happy to answer as many questions as you like.
In regards to AAPT. If you disconnect your landline you will lose your existing home phone number. But We do supply you with a new one. There is no number portability available. What most people do in your situation is when they get the engin service they try it to make sure they like it as you get a 30 day trial period. Then after that if your happy you then disconnect your landline. That also gives you enough time to make heaps of cheap or even free phone calls to all your friends and family members to give them your new number. lol.
In regards to hardware, If you do not have a router already then i would suggest the Linksys Wireless WRT54GP2 router with inbuilt engin. Yes it will allow you to connect other computers in the house to your internet connection through ethernet cable into the router or by wireless. There is 2 options for this box by purchasing through the Bub Hub website by using the join now button on this site.
1. 1 payment of $149 No Contract (purchase outright) then a min of 9.95 per month unless you choose a different plan & including 30 day trial from date of delivery.
2. 1 Payment of $29.95 On a 12mth Contract, then a min of 9.95 per month unless you choose a different plan & including 30 day trial from date of delivery.
The 30 day trial starts from date of delivery and if you are not happy with it or even change your mind you can return it to engin for a refund and/or cancellation of contract with no extra fees.
I hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Hi Andrew, sorry but I've got more questions!:ecomcity: What sort of download does the phonecalls use and what is the engine handset? eg is it a cordless phone because with 5 kids believe me i need cordless, also other phone points in the house will these phones still work?
We've also got foxtel which I think runs through our phone line.
Thanks again,
Margaret

Hi there,
It will use approx 12 megabites per 1 hour phone call. Not much at all. 1 Gig will give you approx 80 hours on the phone.
One of our engin boxes does come with a cordless phone but i would not advise you to use this device with your set up.
So if you have your own phone or phone system you can use that. If you have seperate phones pluged into your phon points in other places in the house then they will be on your landline only as we do not take over your telstra or optus landline or any of the wall sockets in your house.
If you purchase a DECT cordless phone system you can plus the base station into the engin box and have up to 5 additional phones scattered around the house that just sit on chargers and connect wireless to the base station.
Hope this helps.
Kind regards,
Andrew
