I've noticed this forum is dedicated to "much loved" shows...though I must admit some of the shows in this forum would definately make it to my "Hate It" list.

Hence...this thread.

I want to b*tch about all the CRAP shows/movies etc...and I want YOU to do the same.

I'll start...

SEVENTH HEAVEN.
There are many things I dislike about this show. One of the main things is that, though it is religion-orientated, the Camden children are very sexual. When they were a bit younger (and more of them lived in the house) I remember so many make-out sessions taking place on the family couch. It wasn't even HIDDEN from the rest of the family...if fact, Mum or Dad would just walk in and out casually while Lucy/Simon/Mary/Matt (not Ruthie or the twins...they were too little) were sucking face with whoever...without so much as a sideways glance!

I also hate how meddling they can be. Ruthie goes to school with a boy who's a bit down because his parents are divorced (just an example...I dunno if it's really in an episode or whatever)...so she asks her parents for ways to make him feel better...and so reverend Camden decides to call up the parents and make them get back together! Or at least "give it another go". I just HATE their meddling ways. They seem to think they have the perfect family...but their own kids are a bit trampy and they always have problems. I dunno...I just hate them.

So...tell me...what/who do you hate on tv and why?

argh, this thread is gonna make me cry! :o I love 7th heaven *sniff, sniff*

Remind me not to come back here in case my favourites get knocked some more!

Before I go, I would like to say that i detest 'Today, Tonight'. Naomi Robson freaks me out to the point i yell at the tv and change the channel.

Carry on :)

lol..sorry guys...it just rubs me the wrong way!

Another show I detest is...Ed. Have you ever seen it? It's not on any more but I hated it when it was on.

Every episode followed the same plot line...Ed would try to get Carol to go out with him and fail...the bowling alley weird guy would come up with some money-making scheme...every week was the same...! ARGH!

AND SMALLVILLE! OMG! Hate it. I think just about every week there is some sort of car accident. It just annoys the pants off me!

I remember ED........

I dont like Jerry Springer:rolleyes: I dont think OI could get into smallville either

The Simpsons - cant stand that show

Sport - especially when they show crappy golf all day (don't mind tennis and cricket)

Car Racing - I can't think of anything more boring watching cars go around and around. Hubby is obsessed with car racing and will watch it all day.

Thats all I can think of at the moment.

Hey, I have to sit through this every week with Jesse...it appeals to a 4 year old and sometimes it's funny, but that Toni Pearon....

Does anyone remember that show where "Jane" from Neighbours (can't think of her name!) played a newlywed and her sister was played by Cathy Godbold and it centred around married life...Aussie show...see, it was so memorable...couldn't stand that show with the canned laughter...
speaking of canned laughter..."All together now" was the WORST show ever!!!

I have to admit, it really appeals to my 10yr old DSS too. How's about Brainiac...? He loves that too. I watched a couple of episodes thinking it would be an easier paced version of Mythbusters, got a bit low brow for me.

Actually anything with toilet humour in it annoys me. I'm much more high brow than that...I like Monty Python etc. (Just better scratch Meaning of Life to get rid of the restaurant scene). Okay - we'll leave Monty Python out of the equation!

DH can't stand REBA and I have to agree wtih him - something about her voice just rubs me the wrong way.

I know there are shows I can't stand (cause I can picture myself saying "turn of that crap J") but my mind has gone blank. And I can't even blame pregnancy! Bugger. I'll just blame it on me working and organising the move to ACT. Got to blame something surely I'm not that stupid :p  .

I've just thought of another one...
Hi-5...especially that bloody Nathan...he gives me the absolute sh*ts!

LOST--- I just couldn't get into it! Too much thinking i think- and the fact that the fat dude never got skinnier even though they had no food!!!

HMMMMMMMMM- and Headlands- i am so glad it got axed- it took up valuable tv time!! I act better than the actors on that show- i wonder if THEY paid the producers to appear in the show!! LOL

Other than that not much else annoys me- Oh except for BERT NEWTON- pleassssssssseeeeeeeeeeeeee retire bert!!

I cannot stand any of the Jerry Springer, Maury Povich or Jenny Jones type shows. Absolute rubbish and brain numbing.

Any Law and Orders. So bleak. :(

I do love Hi5 and so does my daughter, but I agree that Nathan annoys me. He is so cheesy you need to watch him with crackers. Otherwise a great show and we like the music and dancing.

Boobah! I can see what they are getting at and part of the point of it, but it is still not a goer for me.

I agree about Reba. Nauseating.

7th Heaven. I agree about the parents meddling. Wouldn't the mother in that be a MIL from hell. Very intrusive and meddling.

Home and Away. Just so teeny bopper and blah.

Today Tonight & ACA. I am sure that Naomi Robson when to the Mike Moore school of Current Affairs. Did she and the producers themselves not realise that 'Frontline' was a satire? I really cannot take these shows seriously. They also repeat stories over and over.

I have a few that I hate too. I think I am a grumpy old cow too:D

12-02-2006, 12:46 PM
Oh guys! What DO you all watch?!
hehe:D Just kidding, you've all given me something to think about!

I also can't stand Nathan from Hi-5 and I absolutely HATE Kelly's voice - she sounds like she's always got a cold.

Bert Newton, Toni Pearen, Kerry-Ann, the tall guy who used to host ready, steady, cook, "Heuy" of Heuy's Cooking (never trust a skinny cook. Why not? There arn't any left because he ATE them all!) - My hubby can cook better meals than he can!

Shows I can't stand:
Neighbours (but I can't miss an episode of Hone & Away - I know, shoot me now)
ANY sport. Hubby doesn't get to watch anything while I'm at home.
Telly Tubbies - I mean What the...??
Anything, and I mean ANYTHING with Eddie McGuire or Sam Newman in it.
NCIS - what's with the grey hair parted down the middle?
OH~! What was with Headlands? I mean, how much more could AUST be embaressed by such crappy low grade actors?

And last, anyone every remember Lamb Chops Song?
"This is the song that never ends....yes it goes on and on my friends..... some people started singing it not knowing what it was, and they'll continue singing it foever just because this is the song that never ends......
Oh Lordy.....

You are reading my MIND. Naomi scares we witless, with her BIG STAREY overly painted eyes  (where does that ever look good?). I just want to get at her and slap her with some cold cream (I doubt that anything else would shift that goop). :D

There's just so much MUST NOT SEE TV on commercial telly that we rarely watch it.

I hate insulting shows like CSI - We should beleive that some guy goes and collects the evidence, studies it, and then makes the ARREST as well? It's just too far fetched!

Can't stand any of those commercial curent affairs shows, due to being half utter paid for infomercial style drivel...

Also hate any show containing infomercials, pass the vomit bucket.

Hooray for Foxtel :D

DH can't stand REBA and I have to agree wtih him - something about her voice just rubs me the wrong way.
Thats coz she used to be (or still is) a country singer! She should just stick to being the singer eww lol

I detest:
Home & Away
Neighbours
Bold & Beautiful coz I've seen the show since I was young and it still going, the storyline is the same, a bunch of sad-people going around around the circle how frustating!
Big Brothers (the Australian one) because I just couldnt stand that no-class Gretel Keilen *shiver*
The Simpsons
Any sports except, World Soccer :)
South Park
Any American's trashie TV productions

(I'm not going to attack any children shows just incase I might have to watch it someday with Thomas he he)
Oh yes agree with someone who said something abt Naomi Robson's of Today Tonight she has such a "nasty and ugly" face. Sorry.

Thats for now for the time being ;)

I love lost!!

But I hate
Will and Grace
Bold and the Beautifull
Days of our lives
Neighbours
Most sport
better homes and gardens
jerry springer
Oprah
Any chat show for that matter
7th HEaven
Judge judy
Australian Idol (although i usually watch the final)
Big Brother

I think that pretty much covers it for now... I guess I am not a telly addict!!

OK, the following really get on my nerves

Seventh Heaven (or sanctimonious heaven as it's known in this house) - even when they do something naughty or wrong they are just so good about it.
Everybody Loves Raymond (known to me as everybody tolerates raymond)
Home and Away
Dancing with the Stars (*ducks while people throw things*)
Lifestyle programs like Better Homes and Gardens
Reality shows like Australian Idol, although I do find myself watching the first few episodes, horrible, yet strangely compelling.

Shows I abxolutely LOVE:
Spicks and Specks
Hustle (A British drama/comedy about con men - was briefly on ABC)
North Square (It was on for one season only, but it was brilliant)
The West Wing (RIP John Spencer aka Leo McGarry)

I find the most annoying shows are reality ones like the mole, and especially temptation island. Why would someone put their relationship into a show like that, i can't understand:confused: .

I cant stand: The simpsons
boobah, i think it teachers kids the wrong thing as it is encouraging silly talk along with teletubbies, kids shows should be encouraging correct speach.
Lost ( couldn't get into it)
Bold and the beautiful
young and the restless
and theres others but i can;t think of them as i don't watch them:rolleyes:

Can't stand Bold & the Beautiful - it frustrates me how long it takes them to have one conversation AND in one episode only about 5 minutes passes - way too slow for my liking. Oh, and how come no one ages?

Another one - That 70's show - I just don't get that one - what the

Yes, and that they do all their investigation and collection of evidence in the dark with torches. Don't they do any work in daylight business hours? Especially at the scene of the crime where they are actually allowed to be. And if they really must investigate at night, they can turn the lights on.

I love Lost...and I just can't believe how many people don't like it! I think it's my favourite show of all time...it's just unlike anything else I've seen. Ah well...

ONTO THE HATE FEST:

Funniest Home Videos is tragic. Toni Pearon is vile...and have you noticed that in each episode (that I've seen anyway), she's wearing a dress with some sort of ribbon/belt around her waist to make her look like she's actually GOT one? Some of the vids are funny...but it's a rarity.

Why do networks insist on filling days with Sports throughout the year? Do they not realise that those who actually WATCH sports (usually the men) are at work during the day (most of them)? Little kids and their mothers generally couldn't give a stuff about innings or wickets or "love" or whatever other weird terms they have in sports (I know nothing).

The REAL soapie soaps...like Bold and The Beautiful and Days of our Lives etc...HATE them. It takes 300 eps for one character to finish off their wedding vows, but only 5 eps for a baby to grow into an adult (my mother gave birth to me about the same time some woman on Days gave birth to her daughter. When I was five, the baby's character was early 20s...hmmmm....).

I also hate when shows are RE VAMPED. IMO, the latest season of THE MOLE was crap. The original 2 Moles were good...they were low-key and had a host who actually displayed emotion. Grant Bowler seemed very sensitive and caring...whereas Tom Williams stood there like some boof-headed footy player, doing his best to play "grown up" and host. Sad Sad Sad...

The same happened to Ready Steady Cook. Though it wasn't the best show...it was alright (esp. compared to other daytime TV). Now they've got some new host who flounces about the kitchen...talking like a ponce and he knows SQUAT about cooking. That irritates me...at least the last guy KNEW about food (he said things that always made me think he must've been a chef or whatever).

I am a tv addict, but can't stand most aussie shows, including Neighbours and Home and Away - they are like soft porn shows nowadays, everything is sex sex sex...makes me so so mad because my daughter loves those shows and sees 16 year old girls walking around dressing and acting like adults. P*sses me off!!

I can't stand Toni Pearen, (shame because i loved Australias Funniest Home Videos - until they decided they needed just as much story as video clips to kill time) Toni wears the FOULEST clothes and smiles to the point where you wonder if she has vaseline smeared all over her teeth. Jo Beth Taylor was the only decent presenter on that show, that Kim Kilby was just as annoying..

i hate late night tv with all the law and orders - boooooooooring. And i hate anything with Kerri Anne Kennerley in it - will this woman ever give up searching for a career??!!

But i love Mythbusters, Australia's brainiest series, UK shows like The Bill - Keeping Up Appearances, As Time Goes By...i find the brits don't overdo their acting to the level of ridiculous like the yanks do so i watch a lot of BBC. No, i'm not OLD by the way, only 29 actually! hehehe :)

Go BBC! :p Hey Lisa I'm another Keeping Up Appearances fans here! I love Mrs Bucket (pronounced "Bouquet") he he, I am Daisy btw :-)

Shows I have never seen before and not planning to: the OC, Gilmore Girls, Seventh Heaven, any Idols stuff, Big Brother altho I watched Australian's BB (the first one) once but my excuse was my DH at that time went to UK for business for 2 weeks so I had to keep amuse myself havent I! :p, Dead Like Me (how ridiculous!), and many more!

I will post more later :D

I remember that show! Newlyweds? Annie Jones is Jane's real name. She's in a car commercial at the moment where the hubby sleeps in the car. I hated all those shows back then, All Together Now, Hey Dad... they were all terrible! And they haven't gotten any better either. Our Aussie writers have a lot to answer for!

anything that is related to a reality show ie big brother, idol, loser etc. ARRGH!!!
I scream at the tv when these shows are on especially when the ads repeat over and over. i say this year to get it over and done with put idols, big fat loser, survivor and dancing with the stars in the bb house, then we'll only have to put up with the crap for a few months.
I'm sorry to those who are fans i mean no harm, i understand i have different likes than others.

Any cooking show gives me the sh*ts. Ready Steady Cook has to be the worst.

Poor old Toni Pearen has copped a caning here but I must agree. She has no waist and wears putrid clothes.

Any american show with canned laughter turns me off.

I haven't got into Lost, or the OC. I don't hate them, just don't watch them.

ooh ooh, I just thought of another one I loathe...the lotto draw with that Francine chick. I can't STAND her.

And I can't stand Holly Brisley. She's pretty and all, but the girl cannot act and there is something wrong with her vocal chords.

13-02-2006, 03:14 PM
Here's my support for Toni Pearen...Australias's funniest Home videos is cr@p regardless of the host. I don't think the reason it isn't funny is because of her. Look at Jo Beth Taylor, Holly Brisley in her version (definitely agree that she can't act).

But come on Carly, didn't you like the Henderson kids? Such a great start for Kylie and Nadine Garner, and the guy who ended up being Paul on Hey Dad.

Does anyone remember that show where "Jane" from Neighbours (can't think of her name!) played a newlywed and her sister was played by Cathy Godbold and it centred around married life...Aussie show...

YES! I remember it!!! I can't think what it was called either. May even have been Newlyweds???

I can't stand try-hard reality shows. Some of them are really scraping the bottom of the barrell! I have to admit I don't mind Survivor, but Dancing With the Stars???!!!! Come on!!! And what about that idiotic circus one?! Ridiculous! That's why they can only get has-been, quasi celebs to do them! Crappy reality shows are a big reason why I generally only now watch pay tv.

I also think that for a while now channel 7 must have had last pick of all the shows! 99% of their stuff is just woeful! (Including as someone else said, Today Tonight)

And just while I still stand atop my soapbox! Today Tonight is not the only terrible "current affairs" program - A Current Affair is just as bad, if not worse! I can't believe they have the hide to call themselves "current affairs" programs & "news" shows!

OK, that's it! I'm done now! ;)
