Hi,
I have my home phone line through Telstra and ADSL2 internet connection through Exetel (11 months remaining on exetel contract).
What would my best option be for packaging an Engin connection for external calls? Do I have to retain my existing phone line with Telstra?
Regards
Rob

Hi Rob,
Great question,
Yes you can still use engin. Yes you still will need to maintain your existing phone line with Telstra as you have ADSL Broadband and ADSL requires a landline to run.
Most people would drop the line rental down to the basic package and i think its $20 per month with Telstra and use engin for all outgoing calls from $9.95 per month. This will allow you to keep your existing number with telstra to receive calls on and take advantage of all the cheap outgoing calls by using engin.
I hope this help you.
Kind regards,
Andrew

Thanks for the reply.
One further thought. If I am making calls through Engin and receiving them through Telstra does this mean I would need another phone? Or can they by directed through the one handset?

Good question.
They can be directed through the 1 handset if you are using 1 of the below products as it has PSTN pass through. That basically means that you can plug your landline into the engin box so you can receive landline and engin calls on the 1 handset or phone system.
Engin Voice Box 3102
Engin Voice Box series 3

After receiving answers to my questions last week I signed up for Engin last Thursday night on this site. Should I have received a confirmation e-mail by now?

Hi Andrew,
I decided not to bother copying the order number on this occaision. It was to be connected under the name robbierumbos. Yahoo address robbierumbos@yahoo.co.uk (I have experienced a couple of systems that have not liked the .co. in yahoo addresses)
