My little 5 month old has a patch of severe eczema on her chin (with moderate patches everywhere else that can be kept under control most of the time). We're having a huge problem with her chin as she's teething now and so dribbling on it all the time. The biggest problem though is at night. She always finds a way to rub it on something during the night. We've tried everything:
- lining her collars with silk
- arm splints
- wrapping her in a light muslin wrap from just below shoulders down with nothing on her chest or shoulders
But she always seems to find a way to rub her chin. We were doing cold compress and and using Advantan on alternate days, and some days it cleared up quite well during the day, but in the morning there's blood everywhere from her rubbing it. She's dressed in only a light cotton body suit and depending on if we wrap her or not just a sheet, or a light cotton blanket as well (and this is in cold Melbourne!), so she's not overheated.

I'm just despairing about what to do now. :banghead:

Has anyone else had this sort of problem with the chin? Any advice or suggestions would be most welcomed. :fingerscrossed:

Not sure if I can think of anything useful and you seem to be doing the most important things already (natural fibres, keeping cool etc).

Our DS's problem area is his cheeks and when going through an extra drooly phase we find it helps if we just use his nappy cream (Amolin) on his face to protect against the saliva. Any barrier cream that bub is not sensitive to would do. We also need to keep his nails as short and smooth as possible or he'll sometimes scratch his face at night and draw blood too. Thankfully his ezcema has generally improved lately and we're hoping it stays that way.

Sorry DD's worst eczema is her body and when it is under control, her face and head seem to not need cream either. When she does look like having a flare up on her face (usually under her chin, her cheeks or behind her ears are the worst), I find a smear of Elidel and it is gone in the morning.
