i started rylea on solids 3 weeks ago(4.1mnths) and i only gave her rice cereal only for like 4 days and then started her on vegies, she is fine and there are no food allergies in our family,
should i have kept her on just rice cereal for longer, is it to late to turn back if so.
she only has breakfast and dinner at the moment and is bf.
i know everyone says keep them on rice cereal for a while to let there tummys get used to food.
its hard everyone has there opinion but need to know if i was wrong.:o

In my opinion you have done nothing wrong. I did the same with my DD when she was about 4 months. I used to mix pureed apple, pumpkin etc in with the rice cereal as well for a while.

Keeping it simple will help rule out certain foods that may upset her. I did this for a few weeks and then started mixing vegies together. It sounds like she is doing just fine. :)

My DD didn't like the Rice Cereal one bit! And I don't blame her...it's bland and quite tasteless.

She had the ability to EAT, however, so when I tried her with some other foods, she was MUCH happier.

IMO, rice cereal is a good idea to start with because it's like milk, only a bit gluggier...but I don't see why you'd need to use it for too long if bub doesn't like it. Chanel prefered pumpkin (actually...for a while there, that's ALL she'd eat) so I gave her pumpkin.

I don't think you could do any harm by stopping the rice cereal and adding other flavours. If baby is happy...then you're probably fine!

The "experts" seem to come out with a new recommendation every week. The biggest problem with that is that every child is different. So if your child and you are happy and healthy with the introduction on solids, keep doing what you are doing!

I agree with everyone here !
Plus i also started my bubs early because he was a big baby as well as having no tongue thrust reflex & sitting in his high chair. I wont go into my story as its similar to everyone elses about starting early.
If you felt it was ok & are happy as well as bubs being happy with it all then dont stress ! I too would for the moment just stick with some basics until bubs is a little older much better in case of allergies etc.
As said earlier by chellegoth all that matters is bubs is happy & healthy ! :D

It is always a dangerous question to ask "am I wrong" because there are so many opinions and so much guilt associated with parenting these days. On the one hand there is the expert advice from doctors and the World Health Organisation that says no solids until 6 months because although they may eat with no dramas, have no tongue thrust, be interested in your food, etc, their gut is too immature to digest food properly and this can lead to problems later in life. On the other hand there was the expert advice only 3 or 4 years ago that said that 4 months was okay to start solids. And then you have all the parents who tell you what they did, one way or another, so that you know that others have done what you have done - there will always be people who disagree and people who agree......as I said - a loaded question!

To answer the question about moving from rice cereal to vegies though - and ignoring the question of age - there is no magic in rice cereal. Many babies start on other first foods such as pear, apple and sweet potato, all of which are meant to be as gentle on the stomach, so in that regard you have not done anything "wrong" (well in MY opinion anyway:p ). The CHN I had for DD1 actually said that pear was the best first food as it is the food that babies are least like to be allergic too. (Of course someone will now tell you a story of a child who is allergic but there is an exception to every rule!)
