Hot on the heels of this thread (http://bubhub.com.au/community/forums/showthread.php?t=118265) I'm going to ask a question and post a poll about something I've wanted to ask about since the subject was touched on during Ante-natal classes.

I wasn't sure which area to put it, Mods - feel free to move.

So the question is simple (and multiple choice) what sort of birth did you have and under what sort of care?

No gripes with the public system, My daughter and I were both looked after as supposed to be and during delivery the midwives were very helpful!

DS1 was breech and tried everything to get him turned but he wouldn't. I also went through the birth center for care, love them to bits.

DS2 was an emergency c/s as i wouldn't dilate after 15 hours of labour.

Yeah, I feel the same. I'm going a BC birth next time, hoping to have a water birth... I love the romantic notion of a home birth but I don't think I have the guys (not support frrom husband) to go through with it.

Well mine was vaginal birth with an obs from a private hosp but also doing some patients at a public hosp (one of whom was me). Next time will hopefully be a homebirth with midwife and doula..

I think the poll results regarding the private OB and birth method are very interesting! As I said, I had a private OB and a vaginal birth but I thought I was in the minority as OBs are generally given this scalpel happy reputation.

2nd was a vaginal birth with a private ob in a private hospital!!

Hey,

Mine was with a private ob and an elective c/s. But it was only elective because we knew Coops had a heart defect and wanted all hands on deck!
I'm hoping with the next one for a VBAC!

Public and vaginal birth here.

All in a public hospital my first was an emergency c/s after 12hrs of being induced bub got stressed and I had not dialated.
2 c/s 36 hrs after my waters broke didn't dialate again.
3 booked in for c/s but waters broke 19 days early and was emergency c/s.
Could not fault either hospital I was in(except for very understaffed)
