my little girls jemma is 1 1/2 and she weighs under 10kgs. im constantly being told by my family and the clinic nurse that she is underweight and i should feed her more. she eats all the time. my dd's are carriers of x-link icthyosus, and my dh is tall and skinny so is his mum sister and his brother, one of his brothers isnt affected and he is slighty over weight, apparently its linked with metabolic function. dh's mum and sister she's 25 are both really tall and weigh under 50kgs but look healthy. what am i meant to do my eldest dd is skinny to, am i supposed to tie them down and feed them choclate all day just to get everyone of my back. other than them being skinny there quite intelligent and incredably active.
Don't get so stressed about it. Just ignore the comments. Really some people have no idea. I fyou know they are eating properly and are happy and healthy, don't worry. My DD is nearly 4 and only 15kgs. She is the size of a 2-3 yr old. People are always so suprised when I tell them how old she actually is. I think 10 kgs is fine. And by what you are saying about the x-link icthyosis (I am sorry I don't know anything about it but would like to learn if you care to explain, but only if you want) it is completely normal.
Chin up and ignore everyone else, you know what is normal for your child.;)

i dont know 2 much about icthyosis, what i do know is women are the carriers and boys show the symptons, x-linked is the least severe form it basically is that the skin doesnt retain moisture well, and is more obvious in colder climates and it leaves the skin looking like scales, did you ever see the alligator man, his was a severe case. in the summer it goes almost completly away, x-linked anyway. its on the x chromosone so my dh had a 50-50 chance of getting it, and because he's x chromosone is affected our daughters are carriers, how ever if we have a son he wont be affected because he gets his x from me.
I'm very lucky as my CHN is great. DS is 16mths and still not 10kg either he is 86cm tall though. My CHN always reasures me he is fine as both my DH and I aren't very big.
You know your child better than anyone else so if she is eating and healthy there is nothing to woory about:)
My DS is 18.5months and has just cracked the 10kg mark. I wouldn't stress.;)

My DD is Nearly 3 (28 april) and only weighs between 12-13 kilos. But she was 5 and 1/2 weeks premmie and weighed onlu 4pound 1/2 ounce (1.83Kg)
I wouldn't worry to much about it,,,,My lil boy is 6yrs old & he has always been a skinny lil boy & for ages i have been trying to put some weight on him but no matter what i do nothing works.
then i realised that its just the way that he is & he must have a high metabolism.
so dont stress too much about it for some kids are just born this way & as long as you are being a good parent & your lil one is eating then that's all that matters hay.

Oh phew.....Our youngest is 20 months and hasnt cracked 10kg yet either. All totally normal and healthy in every way though:D
Ozzy was 9lb 9oz when born and is now 1 year old and is 9.5kgs and is perfectly healthy!;)
My dd (nearly 5) and ds (just turned 3) are both the same weight ... 14kg! They are both tall and skinny but still look healthy.
I look at photos of me when I was 13 and I was a very slim girl and yet I remember my Mum taking me to the doctor to get me to lose weight because I weighed 65kg! There was no obvious reason for me to weigh so much, so it must just be my bones or something whereas, my kids look healthy and weigh very little ... must be the same sort of thing!
I think we worry too much about our kids weight and that others are too quick to comment on it! I know my dd has very few reserves when she gets sick and loses weight quickly, but she is healthy enough to regain it all within a couple of months. This is what we should focus on ... does our child look healthy, do they recover quickly after illness and are they happy!
I don't think that my kids are going to fill out much more than they have already ... they both eat like horses and it shows on neither of them!

DS was 10kg when he turned 2... now at almost 3.5 he is 13kg (porked up a nice bit!) but only 87cm tall!!!!
DD on the other hand is only a tiny bit off 9kg and shes only 8months and shes 69cm already... shes almost as big as DS when he was 2.. shes amazing!
God knows how it all works that genetic stuff.. but DS is surely missing the height gene lol
I'm only 5'4 myself but still.. his paed thinks he will struggle to make 5' lil tacker!

My dd was weighed in last week at 12 kgs and she will be 3 this May.
She looks healthy, is hardly sick and is very happy child.
I think we are all just made differently in bone density, structure, muscles ect which accounts for weight.
Unless you think your bubba looks bad then I would say thats a normal weight.
My baby was born 4pound, and she is 1 & 1/2 and weighs no where near 10kg, she eats everything and anyting all day, but she is just skinny.
She is on the go all day, daddy is very solid boy at 6ft 4. and mummy is a tiny frame at 5ft nothing, so maybe she has a bit of us both, but I always get people thinking she is younger than what she is, but I have never worried as she is healthy.
I get the comments all the time especially from family " Oh hes getting thin." Well what they don't know is that he eats all the time and he is very active. My son is almost 17mths and has not gone over 10kg he has been that weight since he was 12mths but he has gotten taller and is know 88cm tall.
Just ignore the comments and keep doing what you are doing.
