Just wondering if you feel guilty going out?
the last time i went out my son Tyrone was only 3 months old, his now 13 months, and even then I called a million times and just wanted to get back to him, i couldnt enjoy myself and i felt soooo guilty.
I want to go out, I think I need some me time, but i feel guilty just thinking about it, i dont want people thinking im a bad parent coz im not home with my child, I hate the cards i've been dealt.:gloomy:

No way at all. We (as single parents) do alot of work so there is no reason at all you should feel guilty for a night off!
If I had any money and someone to babysit I would go out with my friends regularily. Just dinner or something (we're not party animals lol).

Im 22 and i dont really like clubbing or anything, im a country girl so i would rather go to a rodeo and a few drinks at the local, i dunno tho it feels like if i spend even $20 it could be $20 i could be buying something for my son with, or putting in his banking account.. i know it sounds silly, but im the youngest of 8 children and it kinda feels i have to watch my ever step as my brothers and sisters ARE the b!tchy type and if i do the smallest thing wrong they are all b!$ching behind my back about it...
I really want to go out, but dont think i want the **** that will come with it.
I have only been out maybe 4 times since Bug was born 2.5 yrs ago, and each time i have felt guilty and called home to make sure she is ok.
Actually the only time I go out now is to BH dinners:p
Sorry - I know this is the Single parents section, but...
M2B - the dinners we go out to - I feel extremely guilty that I'm out and spending money on me, and call to make sure everything is okay - why is that????
Okay - as you were....
Oh and by the way - the only nights I've left my DD are when I've been to BH dinners as well......:p

Aww R :hugs:
I think you will find that with most parents in general it is about the fact that we are the ones who are responsible for our childs happiness and it feels a bit selfish to be taking time out and spending money on ourselves when it could be put towards nappies, clothes etc. BUT, as I have been told so many times, a happy parent = a happy child, so we do need to take that time to look after ourselves so we are at our optimum to look after our children.
Having said that, i feel it is doubly so with single parents because we are doing it that little bit harder, and we have responsibility of our child alone 24/7 with no partners/hubbies to help.

I haven't done it yet. I'll know when the time is right for me, but it's not the right time just yet. I'm not in a hurry to get out at night. Also, I don't have anyone I can REALLY rely on to look after B (even though she'd be asleep...YKWIM) I think the first time might be when she eventually has sleep overs at her dads
