Hey girls - first time I have had the chance to start off a new month.

Here it is and hope it is a great one for us all!

I will get in here and help kick off the start of spring!!

Jacstar- WOW WOW WOW!! Congrats on the :bfp: Thats just great!

Wild at heart- In response to your preggas and B/f qu- Yes I am but slowly giving up. I am down to one feed a day in the morning that is. I feel so tired and a bit yuck still at night that I find bf too much. It is definately draining being pg and trying to continue bf- well at least that is what I have found.

Flicka- Hope you feel better soon, how long does this fever last for?

Pram Rage- I am a hearing you! I really hate it when you go to the big shops and the isle for wheelcahirs and prams is closed!! It happened the other day so I had to go in the 3 items or less lane with well over 3 items- luckily nobody complained.

Fathers day tomorrow- anyone got any special plans? We have to be at the entertainment centre at 9am as DD1 is now dancing in the eisteddford. Not happy about the 9 am start, especially on fathers day!

We are fine, Bridget is almost crawling properly, another week or so and she will have it all worked out I'm sure, it is the whole coordination of limbs that has her stumped.

Must fly, lots to do, have a good weekend.

Flicka: wow ross river virus! My dad actually thought he had that too but bloods came back neg, :fingerscrossed: the same for you as can be a long, slow recovery ross river if Im correct?

And re: AF yep I was thinking the same as never had a chance to regulate AF after Katie and before the depo so chances are is a combo of both..anyhow, feeling positive and am sure will soon be my time again.
On that subject..anyone know..would the strength/time of AF affect ov? As in would I still ovulate the same or would need a "proper" af?

liviesmum: Sounds like our girls are about the same stage. Today Katie got right up and got very frustrated at the lack of movement lol.
Its like she knows what has to be done but just cant quite get it. I recon a week here also.

wild at heart: Thanks :D.
Katie is BIG eater, well I think she is lol
shes up to about a cup full now plus morning and afternoon snacks and occasional deserts after dinner! Ill give a day sample:
breakfast: 3/4 weetbix
morning tea: toast
lunch: half tub yogurt and a cruskit
arvo snack: milk arrowroot ( or two)
dinner: 1 cup of main meal
1 hr later desert of about half a banana or half cup fruit or yogurt.
PLUS 4-5 200 mil bottles a day and 50 mils of water or juice and water.

Mouse: Thinking of you yesterday :hugs:

Nothing much here, the crawling mainly and some very very weird sounds lol. oh and shes starting to point to go out side and just before I put her down she tried to clap hands!!! had her doing it a few time , no sound as her hands all crunched up but she got to gist of it anyhow lol

What a great day for the start of Spring! I wish the weather was like this every day!!

Flicka: hoping your results come back negative, you must be feeling terrible you poor thing... And congrats on your promotion!

Jacstar: Huge congatulations!! :D

Tabby: Not sure if they have them here but in the US ovulation kits are really popular. Have you tried anything like that? How cute the clapping and pointing..

Chloe is 7.2kg and 71cm! I believe her weight is 25th percentile but height is 50th, so she's long for her weight? Is that how it works?

FOOD
Chloe eats 3 meals a day, generally something like:
Breakfast: 1 weetbix, half tub yogurt, and some pureed fruit. (or less weetbix, more of the other stuff)
Lunch: 1/2 small jar Veges, 1/2 small jar fruit, and dessert
Dinner: Either 1/2 weetbix or something similar, Half jar of veges, half jar or more of something with meat in it, and a jelly or something for dessert.

On the Prams in shops thing: I went shopping today because DH is at work and wanted to get his gift when he wasn't around, and could NOT get thru this stupid store (because Kmart didn't have what I wanted), plus people kept standing in teh middle of the walkway and actlike they're blind like they can't see I'm trying to get thru! SO frustrating... Even toys R us (which you would think would have a clue at least) always have stuff stuck in the aisles, or ladders or something so that anyone with a pram can't get thru (in the Baby section). How ridiculous. I have also adopted the get out of my way approach while walking thru the centre, why should I have to go around them when they are able bodied and have no pram. Idiots. Today was really frustrating. I hereby vow to avoid weekend shopping wherever possible... lol

Just a quick post to say hello

Congratulations Jacstar on the BFP:smiliedance: wish I was joining you!!

Macy has finally started crawling WOooHOooo although now its time to start really babyproofing as she is already pulling her self up on the couch etc. She is also clapping and loves it when you sing songs that have clapping actions

As for the pram issue, I say just keep going in a straight line!! Its easier for everyone else to move rather than us. That annoys me just as much as when people push past and dont say 'excuse me'. Its only 2 little words that seem to have dissapeared from most people's vocabulary.

Hehe well I've had enough of a rant. Might go do the dishes while both kiddies are having a nap [yep even the 7yr old]

Have a great weekend everyone and HAPPY FATHERS DAY to the daddies

My goodness where to start.....

Firstly, CONGRATULATIONS Jacstar. :smiliedance: Feeling a teensy bit envious. Had a good week with C so the thought is not so scary at the moment!

Flicka, :fingerscrossed: it's not Ross River and that you are feeling better soon. If you need anything just yell (although PM'ing me may be more effective). And congrats on the promotion  .

Charis, I think my version of borscht/beetroot soup has evolved somewhat from the traditional. We serve ours hot and it contains meatballs & carrots as well. Sometimes I also add barley to make it a bit heartier. So I'm guessing you must have an eastern European background. My mum's side of the family is Polish.

On bub's weight/length, Cameron is another long & skinny one, 7.3kg and 69.5 cm at 7 months.

Us: met up with a couple of other Townsville mummies on Thurs morn at a local park/playground. Both very nice and had some enjoyable 'getting to know you' chat. I think we are going to make it a weekly thing with all Townsville BH mums welcome. C has his first runny nose but nothing too serious and amazingly his eczema has been cleared up for a few days. He got lots of compliments while we were out and about during the week, especially on his big blue eyes and how much hair he has.

Nothing too exciting planned for Father's Day, just going to head out for a walk along the river after brekky, check out a property open for inspection (near you Flicka but just for fun we are really not in the market to buy just yet!) and then a relaxing arvo at home. No big pressie for DH (we don't really do big pressies and lord knows he buys himself enough toys as it is), just a Blues State of Origin Freezer mug to drink his home brew from.

Hope everyone enjoys the rest of the weekend,

Flicka

Tabby - I think you can still ovulate with a really light AF - after all the first ov after a baby happens without AF...so anything is possible really. When I fell preg with Kelsey i was temp charting for my naturopath and got ill with a fever so had really high temps so thought I missed ovulation (you know how your body temp has to be just perfect for sperm/egg to meet) - then had to go on antibiotics and had an allergic reaction. Long story short - my body was totally mucked up that month and somehow I fell preg - so nature works in some weird ways!

Thanks for all of your thoughts about ross river. Today is about the best I have felt in over a week with no high temps. WARNING TMI - Was really annoyed at doctor as he lined me up for heaps of blood tests including one for chlamydia (sp?) - an STD. Anyway I asked doc what syptoms are and - no I do not have any so why be tested for it? I mean I have been married for 7 years and know 200% that DH and I have only been together. And he says "some people get it from someone else without knowing". I said if you mean I got it from someone else or from my husband I am offended....felt like he was accusing me or DH of cheating......I'm not very happy with how I was treated. Am I over reacting?

korah - yay for Macy crawling

Food - here is my sample menu

Breakfast - about half a cup of rice cereal with stewed prunes. Maybe some toast corners.
Morning tea - Sometimes a rusk or arrowroot while at the shops.
Lunch - Something simple like multigrain bread with vegemite/avocado. Tub of baby yoghurt. Piece of cheese. Slice of fruit (watermelon, rockmelon).
Dinner - Veges/casserole/stew/pasta. Hopefully whatever the rest of the family is having - about half a cup. Half a jar of custard.

She is also still having about 7 breastfeeds per day (including a night feed).

I have been thinking of starting her on weetbix as most of you have already.

Fathers day - Have planned a nice roast dinner for DH as he is working during the day. DS has made him a card at kindy and is desperate to help me bake him a cake (I think he just wants to lick the bowl!). I got him a couple of new shirts and a nice card. Might give him a nice foot rub too as he is a great hubby and dad and deserves it!

Grrrr - Kelsey is playing around in her cot. I think her teeth are bothering her as the two front ones are just under her gums. Better go.

Take care xxx

Thanks for all the congratulations!!! sort of not feeling quite 'real' yet. i will book in an appt next week, would like to go to the Family Birthing Centre...i really want to do things differently this time....has anyone else thought about that? what would you like to do differently? the main thing I would like is to 'know' more about what is happening throughout the whole process, pregnancy and labour as well as I DO NOT want to get induced!!!

Flicka - hope that you start to feel better!! I agree with you about the doc, I would be upset too, and sometimes, I think docs do too many tests!

Crawling - Geoffrey was getting very frustrated at not being able to move, and now you cannot stop him, I love seeing him move around, its great!

Food
Breakfast - 1 and sometimes 1 &1/2 weetbix with cows milk
Lunch - stewed apples and pears, bananas, kiwi fruit
Dinner - Pumpkin & Cous Cous (Fav) mixed vegies, potato, sweet potatoe, carrot, brocolli
throughout day - arrowroot biscuits to snack
Bottles - anywhere from 4-6 150-200mls, depending on what else is going on

Flicka: Thanks for that info. and sorry I forgot to say congrats on the promotion, ( was on other thread doh! ) awesome news!

I think I would have been offended too, specifically as you have no symptoms, so what the...Im at a loss to understand.

korah: woohoo go Macy!!! :smiliedance:

mummysgirl: Thanks for the tip on ov testing, I had actually read about them before and seen them at woolies etc,but yep great idea to make sure am ov'ing, cheers for that!
We had absolutely lovely weather here today as well! Makes all the difference on how I feel thats for sure. Got so much done today.

Fathers day: Brunch for DP's first fathers day and my parents coming as well, hopefully the suns out again and out for a bit down the river side.

hows everyones sleeps, getting better again?

Katies been regular now for weeks of 7pm/8pm-7am, making all the difference for me for energy and tiredness, :fingerscrossed: you all get the same real soon xx

jacstar - I don't know what your 1st labour was like but my 1st and 2nd were very different. 1st was longer, scarier, more painful with a longer recovery time. kelsey was a total breeze and yes I will brag here - labour was only 90mins from first twinge to baby in my arms. It was much easier and I felt in total control knowing exactly what was going on. I went into it in a better frame of mind with a better plan and it was absolutely fantastic. I think you know exactly what you are in for this time and will be ready for it all - not as shocking as the first when you feel like you have just been run over by a truck. I am really so happy for all of you guys that are preg again and love hearing about your pregnancies!

Oh I take so long to type I missed your post Jacstar!
With DD I had "planned" to do lots of things differently, example I wanted the birthing suite but due to my "mature age" I was too high a risk :(

Other than that I was definitely much more cluey this time round pregnancy and labour. All my plans for labour pretty much went out the window though when she ended up being footling breech!

Hey everyone,
WOW! Cant believe its September already.

Flicka - Really hope you are feeling better soon & its not ross river.
Korah - Great about Macy crawling. We are still a while off that here i think.
Tabby - Not sure about the ovulation. Think you still would at the same time. But really i dont have a clue, i've never had a short af lol.

Fathers Day - Not really doing alot. DH wants to watch the footy of course. Gonna make a nice breakfast & DD1 made him a toolbox at kinder, which is really cute. I was gonna go out & buy him something that he wanted but we just paid $3000 yesterday for one of our cars to be fixed  So probably best if i dont have any retail therapy for a while
2nd Labours - I really wanted all of my labours to be different & they were but they were all very long & very intense. I didnt want to be induced with any of them but was induced for all of them.
Sleep - Sierra has been waking up, only because of her cold though. She starts coughing & it upsets her. I think things will go back to normal once her cold goes away.
Food - Sierra isnt a huge eater. Has 4-5 200ml bottles a day. Has either some Apple & Oatmeal or Apple & Blueberry Museli for breakfast. Some Vegies for lunch, & sometimes Fruit or Custard & Vegies, Pasta, Rice & Meat for dinner. Hates anything with the tiniest lumps. Retches & then throws up & refuses to have anymore. She'll get the hang of it soon though.

Well best be off to bed, happy sleeps to all.
Happy Fathers day to all the daddies.

Another great day of weather here, thank goodness. Not too hot, not cold, perfect.

Flicka: 7 bf's a day and all that food? You go girl, you are more woman than me that's for sure. I'm down to 2, but CHloe is only having 4 milk feeds generally.

YOu know I can't believe I forgot to tell you guys: Chloe had her first sleep through the night before last (woke at 130 last night). She almost woke at about 340, but I fell asleep again and woke up at 430 because I remembered she'd stirred but she was fast asleep. Well of course then I couldn't go back to sleep because I was waiting for her to wake up! She didn't wake til 5. So slept from 6-5 which is AWESOME. Figured it couldn't happen twice in a row but hopefully we're getting closer!!
Day sleeps are going fairly well.
Only thing now is that she has started doing Katie's trick of crawling around the cot and pushing herself everywhere... She sleeps between wedge things, but has figured out that if she puts her feet under her bum she can push that mat thing down under the blanket and then she can roll over. And then crawl. I have some hilarious photos to show once I get them uploaded. We now have to get her sleeping in her real cot in her room (still in the portacot bassinet level thing in our room) before she can pull up properly.

I just put her down to sleep, and after 5 mins went to check and she's still on her back but pushed herself upwards with her feet so the top of her head is as far into the corner as it will go, and then fell asleep cuddling her teddy bear Henry... loL!!

DH loved his funny card and dad mug. He wants fish and chips for lunch so we're off to find some. Hope you all have a great day.

hi guys.. so it has been along while since posts from me ..

congrats to all with the pregnancies .. and the job promotions ..

:hugs: to all those not feeling well and getting tests done .. :hugs:

hmm well my poor little tayla is not much close to a real diagnosis yet poor thing .. they are still thinking she has fpies - food protein induced entercolitis syndrome.. we have been trialing foods but with no success at all .. she gags or vomits with almost all foods now..

we are going to see a dietician tomorrow as while she is on the food trials she wont take enough neocate .. and atm that is all she can tolerate.. im so tempted not to get her on food at all .. she gets too bad..

on a happy not she is sitting up unaided now and up on all fours rocking .. has attempted to move her arms and then plomets to the ground.. she knows what she gotta do .. but hasnt quite mastered it yet  although she has perfected backwards and the 360 pivot as we call it lol ..

will try to catch up more when things settle down .. im so jealous about all the menus your little kiddies can eat lol i just wish mine could eat ingeneral :o

take care

Hey bossoflatch - great to hear from you and wish you were closer to a solution than you are with Tayla. But good news that she is developing so well!!!

Mummysgirl - I would def say Kelsey still has 6-7 b/f per day. You'd think I'd be really skinny.....but I'm not. I feed before every nap and am still getting up 1 or 2 times per night to feed. But she doesn't guzzle for ages - just a 5 min booby snack!

Tabby

Boss: So sorry to hear your no closer in getting things worked out, lovely to hear from you though :hugs:hopefully you get some answers and help tomorrow

mummysgirl: Awesome news on the sleeps, fingers crossed they continue.
LOL yep sounds like Katie going down for a nap, we just put her down for the arvo one and there is this bang bang on the monitor and sure enough, up the other end and banging the sound and light with her foot. Also noticed the last few naps shes gone to sleep on her tummy, very unusual of her but thats where so goes right away and must just nod off lol.

tired*mummy: Hope Sierra's cold/cough improve real soon so she can get some unbroken sleep again. :hugs:

Alls quiet here, mum and dad have been and gone after brunch of sausages/scrambled eggs/hash browns/baked beans etc. lol Dad says he cant remeber the last time he had a cooked breakfast..probably last yrs fathers day
Pressie from Katie to DP was a dad mug with chockies in it and mine to Dad was a dart board, had a few games after out in the sun..ah sunshine! 26 degrees forecast for tomorrow yippie!!

hi all..
wow, your LOs have such big varied menus!
we're still on fruit and veg - tried carrots the other day, must be too fibrous or something cos he was up alot at night yowling with gas.
mostly we still do millet cereal..
but these few days DH and i have been laid down with the flu - DH got it really bad, whole week at home and in bed. i got a milder shorter version..
so to try to protect DS from it, i've cut out his solids and am just bfing him to get as much antibodies into him as possible. dunno if it's worked but he's only had the slightest sniffles and watery eyes.

boss: hope you guys find out what it is soon!

flicka - we're exactly the same bf pattern around here! but with zero to 3 solid meals a day...

ds is no closer to being interested in crawling or rolling, but he sits alot, and can support his own weight standing (but no balance).
but he spends more time sitting by himself playing nowadays, which is great as it frees me up to do more stuff now. not much though.

still can't find a mothers group of babies around ds's age; the mchn's only have groups for 3mos, and just referred me to playgroups (where babies are like a year old)
the bubhub feb mamas might let me come along to their meet though, that'd be great.

my birthday was on thursday, but spent in being utterly miserable with DH in bed and me feeling horribly crook but still having to hold to baby all day. weekend was good though - went to ILs who played with him all day, giving me a 3hr nap. wow!

arghhhh... it's 12.20am and he still is completely awake!!!! we tried to go to bed over an hour ago but he was wide eyed and laughing, so eventually i gave up and came back out with him. soo tired, but he's still wide eyed awake!! why why...

Congrats to all the ladies who are expecting! :smiliedance: how exciting. I would love another one, but since we just moved OS and may move again in the next 6 months I think I will wait awhile.

prams well hate to say it but living in a small town in germany is really pram friendly. there are so many prams here it is normal for shops to have ramps!

BF and feeding Clea still has heaps of booby. Flicka I think you said 7-8 a day. Clea would be around that if nor more if I include the quick snacks. It is so cute how she launches herself onto me and bites my top unti I give her boob. But solids are hit and miss. She hates spoon feeding so I chop fruit into little cubes and finger feed her. she feeds herself toast but I think I should increase her food based on what others are eating. I am only giving Clea a piece of toast (over the whole day) and 1/2 a banana 1/4 of a stone fruit and some yogurt and some potatoe or some other veg. Today she had her first bit of chicken from our chicken soup.

Clea is still non-stop. I am exhausted most of the time. I spend my day kneeling behind her trying to anticipate her fall while she walks around the furniture or climbs the furniture, she gets really cranky when I hold her. She almost has tantrums!!! Surely she is too young for tantrums? For all those mums whose babies yet to really crawl, stand, climb..... ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN. It happens so fast. I remember worrying because Clea didnt like tummy time, ha, if only I had known she would become a little monkey so quickly.

Ha ha ha DFB, that makes me laugh. My DD1 was like that. She was crawling earlyand at thesame age Bridget is now she was walking along furniture etc. Poor ol Bridget is stuggling to crawl- but in saying that she is more enjoyable because once DD1 became mobile she didnt want me anymore!

Tabby- Yummy brunch!! Sounds great. I have heard of those ov kits too. A friend used one to help her get get pg, there are even ones available to help you determine the sex!!

Flicka- I would be cranky with that Dr too in regards to what he may be implying! Some are just a$$es! And I agree with your comment about the 2nd bub. When you know what to expect you do have more control over what you do. My labour was 2 hours 20 with Bridget and I was in control the whole time. When I arrived at hospital (and only just made it) I was telling the midwife how it was going to be!!

Boss- Good to hear from you. I do hope they get Tayla sorted out soon. It must be a nightmare!

And again... thats all I can remember!

Us- Bridget has a bit of a cold. It was really running (but clear) yesterday, she could hardly breath with bottles and dummies in her mouth. I used the saline in the nose which helped a bit and some panadol. Today she seemed ok but her nose has started running again and it is going green- does that mean infection? This is the first time Bridget has been sick, I swear it is because she is really no longer on the boobies- what do people reckon?? (dont mean to offend here!).

Anyway I am going to clean today, it is well overdue in my home!! We are renting the house out again for the race week in October so I need to get it started- a spring clean is always in order before that!!

Happy glorious sunshine!!!
After I posted yesterday we went for a walk down by the river, yep gave you and beautiful Hunter a wave Charis .
Katie got to see her first helicopter up close, landing and takeoff to much bewilderment.
Also her first black swan and seagull, not impressed with sitting on that prickly green stuff called grass though lol.
Just had to share this,
Was truly lovely and way too long since DP and I did something like that. much holding hands and plenty off @ss patting by DP, think he was enjoying it? lol was quite cute and felt like those first weeks of in love again.... awwwwe
not that he doesnt show his love often, it just felt different..if you know what I mean. Probably just me and the happiness at sunshine and warmth finally!

liviesmum: yep I will grab some tomorrow, long as not too much $, just this once to make sure am Oving and alls well.
boobie or not re: colds etc?, Katie has only had one mild cold and that was when boobie, shes not been sick in least 6 months while on bottle..
Probably just a coincidence. Hope shes feeling better soon, oh and green snot..not too bad, its whens its yellow is a concern but if it hangs in there too long or shes feeling a lot worse and the panadols no help go the gp anyhow get her checked
Hope that helps..

DFB: nope not too young for tantrums. Katie does them already too! If your holding her and she gets the cranks she stiffens up and arms to the side and face goes all red as she growls. I end up laughing and then so does she.

jbie: Theres been lots of unsettled babies of late but now am seeing a few have gone back to normal and settling well again, :fingerscrossed: the same for you and doesnt last too long. Hope he settled and you got some sleep last night.
Sorry to hear your birthday was such a bummer. Belated HAPPY BIRTHDAY!!!! xxx

Morning everyone,

Sierra had a pretty unsettled night again. Woke up just as DH & I went to bed & she couldnt stop coughing & her eyes must have been itchy cos she kept rubbing them. She scratched her face while rubbing her eyes & it looks pretty sore too. Poor little thing. I let her lay with me for a while last night & she slept & was settled for about 10 mins but then she threw up & cos we had to change all her clothes she woke up & wanted to play. DH & I were laying in bed & she was sitting up in the middle of us, pulling DH hair & pinching his ears. Was very funny. But after about 20 mins of that she got grumpy so i heated a bottle & she went off to sleep in her bed for the rest of the night, so that was good. Managed to get sleep from midnight til 8am, so cant really complain.
Shes still pretty miserable with her cold & conjuntivitis. Shes had runny nose & cough for almost3 weeks now. Maybe i should take her back to the dr's.
She trying to crawl. Well if i get her up onto her knees she will start rocking. Very cute. But if shes sitting she will put on leg behind her to try & get into the on all fours position. Still a little while of before she gets it i think. But its progress anyway.

Frustration!- How do you teach them to drink out of a sippy cup? Bridget just chews the end. I have tried putting sweet stuff on the spout to suck it off and realise if she keeps sucking the juice will come out, but NO! What to Do?:hair:

Tabby- Sounds sweet, what a lovely walk! It is nice to get in touch with those feelings once in a while!

Tired Mummy- hope you get some rest. Bridget did that to us the other night. She sat awake between DH and I at 3 am trying to play- I was buggered the next day!! It was cute but annoying.

Have been cleaning all day. Done 4 loads of washing and still going!

Liviesmum, have you tried removing the drip valve so the water literally drips out, then once she has discovered that's where it comes out if you tip it up, replace the valve so it's less messy!

Have anyones elses bubs lost interest in their milk in favour of food? I always offer the milk first but sometimes it's a struggle to get M to take 100mls, then he will scoff 3 big cubes of veges with chicken followed by a mini yoghurt! Even 1st milk feed of the morning he usually refuses anymore after 150mls! He sometimes wakes late at night for a 4th bottle but even that is dropping off now.

Tabby - Sounds like a lovely 'loving, flirty' moment for you and DP, must make more effort with DH, he is always interested but I am so ticklish and tired and the two certainly don't mix - the response is usually lots of growls instead of the 'hanky panky' he envisages.

Gosh September already.

Boss – So nice to hear from you. I really do hope the find out what’s going on with little Tayla.

mummysgirl - Great news on the sleep, they will continue.

tired*mummy - Hope Sierra gets over her cold real soon.

Tabby – Brunch sounded yummy. I made DH a nice father’s day dinner (Silverside, white sauce and veggies)

Jbie – Happy Birthday for the other day.

SammyG – yep I’ve noticed T doesn’t drink much milk after solids, I usually give him a bottle 1 hour after solids and then he usually takes it.

US -Had a great weekend. Hubby surprised me with an eternity ring on Saturday  , I must admit it goes really well with my wedding and engagement ring. Hubby got a dart board and a box of favorites chocolates from Talon for Fathers day. I told him he can have the chocolates but had to share them with me  . Checked Talon’s teeth this morning and noticed he has cut his 6th tooth:eek: . Have my 20 week scan tomorrow morning cant wait, still deciding weather we are going to find out the sex or not. T crawling is improving everyday. I don’t think it will be long till he will be chasing after us.

Anyway better go, girls want to get into the spa, so better go and keep an eye on them.

Take care

Frustration!- How do you teach them to drink out of a sippy cup? Bridget just chews the end. I have tried putting sweet stuff on the spout to suck it off and realise if she keeps sucking the juice will come out, but NO! What to Do?:hair:

Had the same with Katie, took her about 1-2 weeks to get the hang of it, she kept chewing it, then one time when I put it in her mouth she sucked instead without thinking and it was like a light went off saying "ohhh thats how you do it" and away we went. Just persevere and keep offering.

Katie's probably dropped 1 bottle over all but is still her preferred food, even after a good dinner it amazes me how she can fit it all in!!
Same here as strawberry, she takes it about a hour after solids.

Really need to learn multiple quotes on one post sorry lol

Sammy: Yer it was lovely, really noticing lately that things are much more romantic again between us and I think it has a lot to do with my making the effort, even right down to leg wax, hair cuts and looking after my self which made me feel better and in turn a bit more frisky :p which helps lol.
Also I know im very lucky with Katie sleeping which helps but even so I quite often feel tired...I informed DP that he would get more action if he let me nap occasionally on the w.e so Im not as tired come bed time ( and make it a early one *nudge nudge*) yep it worked lol

Strawberry: awww how lovely the ring!!! They're are some truly lovely eternity rings..Now to just get the first one here though
Goodness me 6 teeth!! hes certainly has a mouthful already. Speaking of such.. two top ones cutting down now and Miss K not a happy girl today, 40 min nap this morning all day and finally now some nurofen and we have a nap after a 2 hr walk and a hr of trying to get down in cot , happy while we walked but grumps when home. anyway all good now.

tired*mummy: Poor honey Sierra, hope shes feeling better soon as some better nights to be had then xxx

Liviesmum, I had the same problem with the sippy cup. But following advice from Tabby kept perservering and just like Katie he did work it out after about 2 weeks. Now have to hide it from him until after he eats his solids or else all he wants is water!

Ahhhh....have discovered roast pumpkin as finger food for bub while sitting in walker/playgym NOT a great idea. My god, it looked like I'd given him orange chunky finger paint and he managed to smear it over every single toy on the gym and the seat and himself and by the time I got to clean it had already dried and required major scrubbing (as did C's face!). The joys.

Hi-ya Girlies,

Have finally managed to get into work. The week went from bad to horrific on Sunday. Nannas funeral went as well as it could. DD1 got another headache on Saturday night. It was horrid all day Sunday and nothing would help (Panadol, Nurofen, Painstop). Sun night she started :barf: . So by Mon morning she was looking rather peaked. Called an ambulance and went to PMH. After some more nurofen and some special hydrating liquid she came good. The only thing the doc could suggest it could be was a miagrain (sp?). After spending 5 hours in Emergency I'm feeling very sorry for you mums who have spent a lot of time in hospital lately.

Today things are looking up. DD1 woke up talking a million miles and hour (a good indication that she is ok) and I've managed to make it to work.

Jacstar...congrats on the BFP.
Boss....hugs for you and T
Dragonflyblu...know what you mean about hovering. TJ has started pulling herself up on things. Forgetting she needs to hang on and balance when she gets there.
Meals...TJ eats a lot
Bfast - 1 1/2 weetbix and fruit, sometimes 1/2 piece of toast too
Lunch - 1 1/2 weetbix and fruit or rice cereal and fruit
Atea - milk arrowroot or two
Tea - about 8 cubes of veges and meat or 1x Boost sachet and 1 tin food (all with 1 teasp rice/pasta)or a mix of all (cubes, boost, tin and rice). Followed by 1/2 jar jelly or 1/2 tin custard

Can't wait for summer now that we've had a hint of the warm waether:smiliedance: .

LOL, DH is home with the two girls today. Will be interesting to see the state of him, the girls and the house this afternoon.

Lots of :hugs: for your DD1 Mousebrown. If it was a migraine I hope it was a once off. Don't get them myself but know people who do and no fun at all.

Went to the GP today to get a couple of dodgy looking moles removed and biopsied (SP?) & C patiently sat in his pram while it was being done. Results next week and later in the month going to have a 'solarscan' done so there is a computer record of my moley skin and easier to track any changes. Usually I ignore stuff like this but I noticed a very definite change in one mole especially and now I'm a mum I'm not taking any chances.

Flicka, any news on your Ross River virus blood test?

Just a really quick one tonight, hope to get on and do the rest tomorrow:

Liviesmum: I tried the sippy cup for ages, it was a no go here. Chloe did the same biting thing, no water with the valve, and too much without it. I ended getting a "Nuby" bottle/cup thing (tommee tippee) on recommendation from a friend, which has a silicone end on it (but not like a baby bottle), so when they bite they still get the water, and also if they suck. And it's non-spill. If you have no luck with the sippy cup that might be an option. There are a few stages of them, the one for this age is kinda like a sports bottle. This link has a pic, tho still kind of hard to see. Anyway they are about $6.80 in BigW. http://img.shopping.com/cctool/PrdImg/images/pr/177X150/00/02/37/9b/2e/37198638.JPG

SammyG: CHloe started refusing milk a while back. I changed her feeds around and it seemed to help. She now has milk first thing in the am, then about 1-1.5hrs later has solids. She has 4-5 milk feeds/day and 3 solid meals. And always has room for lots of both. :) I was so frustrated when that started happening so I feel for you....

jbie: happy belated birthday!

CHloe has her first french fry sunday, she loved it. Now i've started giving her toast crust and she's handling it really well so that's a big step forward for us with the food. No more gagging with chunky food which is great. Now we have more choice with what we can give her... Hooray! :smiliedance:

Ok off to eat dinner, DH made pad thai tonight and it is DELICIOUS. yum. :)

Thanks Mummysgirl, will look out for that cup next time I am out. I took the rubber thing out and Bridget was amazed what came out but did not clue on to the fact that when I put it back in she had to suck!!

Mouse:hugs: for you and your DD. A bad enough w/e without a sick child aswell- it always happens at once though.

Cat- Kids and their messes, and mashed up roasted pumpkin- my favourite kind!!

Sounds like your getting a bit of action lately Tabby!! Lucky girl!!

Us- Still a bit of a cold here for Bridget. She was up most of last night and I had to turn around and go to school this morning. Felt like a zombie for the first half of the day!
Bridget really loves the Gummy Bear song. She is so funny. DH will bring it up on YouTube and play it for Bridget, she loves it, she goes mad when she hears it bopping up and down and making noises:smiliedance: - JUST SO CUTE!!
I am about to go get into bed, I will not cope at work tomorrow if I dont get some sleep tonight!!

Hi girls,

Apparently I did have ross river but feeling almost back to normal now. Apparently it can just hit hard and then disappear. Thank goodness because I was actually starting to feel a bit down in the dumps about it - just feeling so achy and still having to look after the kids. Doc said to me that I should just rest as much as possible - obviously has no idea what mischief a 2 year old and 7 month old can get up to!!

Sippy cups - I agree that you just have to perservere. I gave Kelsey hers every day for about 2 weeks and then one day she just accidentally sucked on it and loves it now.

teeth - Kelsey also has 6 teeth now as she has just cut the 2 top teeth. She actually looked a bit funny for a while as she cut the 2 top teeth next to the front ones first. She looked a bit like someone had knocked the 2 front ones out!!

no crawling here yet - she bounces on her hands and knees but is still really happy to roll everywhere. Some kids never crawl - my cousin didin't and just stood up and walked at about 10 months!

Cat - had a good laugh about the pumpkin incident.
Tabby - great about the spring romance over your way!!! DH and I keep telling each other we need to make time for more kisses and cuddles. Oh, and more time for sleep would be good too!

Mummysgirl - Kelsey LOVES hot chips too. I know choking is a worry but I think babies have a really excellent gag reflex. I give Kelsey slices of cheese and chopped cooked vegies all of the time. I actually went to put her to bed the other night after she didn't feed well and realised she had a huge piece of broccoli in her mouth!!! No wonder she couldn't have a boob feed!

tiredmummy and liviesmum - hope your girls are feeling better

Mouse - how awful for your DD to suffer from a migraine. Fingers crossed it was a one off or she grows out of them.

Jbie - happy belated b'day!

Strawberry - Have been thinking of you - how did the scan go?

Well I'm off to bed.
Take care xxx

Hi everyone

Flicka - 6 teeth, WOW!. Sierra still doesnt have any  Glad you are feeling a little better.

LiviesMum - Hope Bridget imporives so you can get a good nights sleep.

Mouse - Hope DD1 is feeling better. Poor love. I get migraines & they are awful. Like Cat said i hope it was a one off.

Sierra still isnt well. Just can get over it. She slept relly well last night though. From 8pm til 7.20am. Hopefully she does the same tonight. Really hoping thast she gets over this cold soon too. DH came home from work tonight feeling really crappy. Has got blocked ears, nose & a really sore throat (about time he got it lol). No seriously... its not nice & i'm hoping that the kids & i dont get it again.

Sippy Cups - I just bought one tonight. Sierra has 2 no spill bottles with handle that have been really good, its great when they can give themselves their bottles  Makes things a little easier. Sierra loves to lay in front of the telly in her rocker & drink her milk. She loves watching Curious George

Happy sleep all

Morning lovely mummy's!

Mouse: Sorry to hear of your hard week ending on a even harder weekend!! Hope its not a common thing for DD and thats the last time, the poor thing!
Agree, cant wait for Summer now after that tease the other day, was just lovely, we even went for two walks in one day as I just had to get out in it.
Hope your weeks is better than last xx

Cat: The scan thing is a great idea! Will be much easier to keep track now. Hope alls well on your results.

mummysgirl: Yay for the chunkier food now.
Katie has had chippies a couple of times when out, usually shes just had dinner and just something to keep her occupied lol
Actually on fathers day she scoffed half a hash brown while we ate breaky as she had had hers earlier.
Finger food time makes things so much easier!

Flicka: wow another mouthful of teeth your way,Lucky you found that broccoli, the cheeky monkey!
Glad your feeling better and your recovering from the RRV.

tiredmummy: heh how cute with the laying in rocker watch curious george. Just this last two days am laying her on the floor for her arvo bottle while we watch tv and I grab some lunch and eat beside her.

liviesmum: Katie loves that tune too!!! Its on foxtel all the time and she swings round and watches the whole thing! Am trying get her to bop to music lately, matter of time am sure, ds2 loves his music and shes always scooting up there to his room in the walker to listen and watch with him when something appeals to her.
Shes totally fascinated by him lately.

Awake at 530am ish again today :(
2 weeks of 7am, wonder what changed?
ah well not complaining, she still sleeps through without a murmur so cant complain really, just she spoilt me for that time lol

So shes back in bed for the 1st morning one, was only one morning but a earlier rise she needs two again.

RE sippy cups: Alex loves his Nuby bottle/ cup- he will even take EBM from it.

Glad to hear you are recovering flicka.

hugs Mousebrown.

Def no crawling from alex even though he can drag himslef along floor if it is slippery enough. he is rolling evrywher and starting to get into everything. Doesn't matter where he is, he will try to roll etc on tiles into wall etc.

But... not really sitting very well.. i haven't really worried but my mum keeps hassling me bout it.. he will sit but then desperately tries to throw head back so he can roll from back to tummy or he will put an arm down to try to roll over..

Am i being a neurotic mama or is there something i can do to encourage him..

Flicka- Thanks for thinking about me and my scan. Scan went really well. Bub is happy growing and also healthy. We decided to find out the sex but bub didn't want to play the game so its going to be a surprise. Great pics of bub at ultrasound. One was bub having its fingers in his/her mouth. it was very cute. Also was a pic of bub's feet (boy they are big lol.)

T has started to crawl :yelclap: , been busy making sure my lounge room is Talon proof:laughing: . Just under 8 weeks till we are posted to Darwin. Its coming around so quickly. Anyway must go and put some washing in the dryer. Overcast and :rain: on and off today in Brisvagas.

Strawberry; Can we see the scan? Love looking at them and would love to see yours.
Any "hunches" on what it might be? oh exciting with a surprise now!
Am actually going to try make no4 a surprise..but knowing me Miss no patience and all I doubt will hold lol

wild at heart: Its really not important at this time weather bubs sits or not, he might bypass it all together! ( quite often stages are missed and mastered later on)
Just the same as how some dont crawl but just get up later to walk.
Hes obviously happy to concentrate on rolling everywhere, theres more fun in that heh.
He might crawl then learn to sit upright to get to things etc.
You can only encourage it..sit him up with pillows etc but if hes determined and wants to roll instead, just let him go I recon
Dont worry, he will when hes ready.

hi everyone,

sorry but I read all the posts over the last few days and now I can't remember who said what..except I think CONGRATULATIONS are in order for jacstar?!! wow, we're going down like flies!! he he

I agree with Tabby re sitting etc. it will happen when they're ready. Hamish never really got into rolling although he can do it he only does it as a way of getting from his back to his tummy and then up to sitting or, preferably, standing. He started properly forward crawling on Saturday and is scooting about with a hilarious little jerky robot move and getting into everything. He's really working the vocal chords too with constant chatter...same words usually but practicing different volumes, tones, pitches that are all very expressive and very cute.

Yesterday Hamish was sitting on my lap holding a small cushion and he kept putting it between our faces and then pulling it away as a peekaboo game. It was so gorgeous and i think he's so clever!

Still doing two night feeds mostly - about 11 and anywhere between 3 and 5 - but sleeping 7 to 7 otherwise and around 2 decent day sleeps as well but he's taken to sitting up to cry when he can't get back to sleep. I'm not sure whether to leave him to work out how to get back to sleep or to go in and lay him down. He doesn't usually sound too upset but does go back to sleep pretty quickly when I lay him down. Does anyone else have that problem? Sometimes he's even standing and rocking the cot!

o yes, sippy cups. I bought a Tommy Tippee one with a spout kind of thing (not a teat). Hamish has worked out how to use it but usually manages to spill a large proportion over himself and when he's finished spends the rest of the time banging it as hard as possible and turning it upside down. It doesn't appear to have any kind of valve so this increases general saturation levels of all clothing items! I've taken to using a plastic bib with scooped bottom.

Well :hugs: to Mouse and hope everything is on the improve for you. I'm off to mother's group with a cranky baby who has decided to ignore what I've said above about good day sleeps.

Hi girls

Wild at heart - I agree with Tabby (and others) that babies roll/sit/crawl when ready. I just think that they all have an internal clock and when it is time to do something they will. Just a few weeks ago I was wondering why kelsey wasn't sitting very well and all of a sudden she has mastered it and is now rocking on all fours.

Strawberry - Yay for the great scan. never mind about not finding out the gender. I did with both of mine and I must say it made buying clothes etc easier. Also easier for family (none live here) as they could buy things for bubs. But I bet the surprise at birth will be a precious moment. Especially if you ask no one to say anything and allow you to find out for yourself (ie no midwife shouting "It's a boy"). I think that would be really lovely.

Us - Well, Kelsey had a really restless night. I hate to make excuses for her but I really think cutting her front teeth is a bother. They are just through but obviously still moving down. I was so tired at one point I accidentally walked into the wall!!!

Hope we have a better night tonight.
Has anyone been clothes shopping at target lately? They have some gorgeous little outfits for both boys and girls. Got 2 cute shorts and top sets for kelsey - one blue and one pink for summer. Don't tell my DH - I am so naughty when it comes to spending money on the kids!

My girl is calling from her cot and I need to do some vacuuming. Bring on summer - I can't wait to swim in the pool!

Cheers xxx

PS - I have a 'playtex' brand sippy cup with handles and Kelsey loves it. About $10 from coles/woolies. I don't like to spend too much on them as they usually chew through a few spouts while teething!!! The 'take and toss' ones are also great and cheap too. Can throw them away or wash in dishwasher and don't have to worry if you accidentally lose it or leave it behind.

Wow I can't believe how quickly this thread has been moving!! I've only skimmed through - hope sick babies are feeling better. and jacster - CONGRATS!! :)

We've been in hospital anyway... Caitlin has been a bit off colour the last week and then all of a sudden on Monday afternoon she went red and sweaty so I took her temp at it was really high so went to emergency and she was still 40 degrees and got this weird rash all over her. Anyway, all is good now and so glad that we went to the hospital when we did.

Anyway, sorry too tired to converse further.. haven't showered in days!!!

Just a quick post to say hello and that Im thinking about you all.

Good to read that the pregnancies are going along well and that most bubs are on the mend.

Had a funny episode with hubby last night. I had gone to bed earlier and he was meant to be looking after Macy. I woke up from hearing noises in the kitchen and went out there to find Macy banging on the empty formula tin by the bin so I walked into the lounge and found hubby fast asleep. Gave him a good scare by waking him up and asking him if he knew where his daughter was  I think it will be a steep learning curve for him now that she is on the move

Anyways, some :babydust2: for happy and healthy kiddies and their mums!!

Cordelia: Glad things turned out ok, did they end up saying what cause it at all?

Freddie: Hear you on the chatter...Katie does the same, same noise but in varied pitches and strengths lol
Clever fellow with the crawling. Must think more about baby proofing here soon.

Flicka: LOL @ walking into the wall..sorry I have the worst sense of humour sometimes but it really made me giggle!
Just got a target catalogue today! Big kids clothes and toy sale with no deposit layby, eying off the cute pants sets ( 2 pairs in 1 packet) for under $10, also tops to match for 7a pair!
Hope you manage a better night tonight.

Korahblue: LOL @ dh! and Macy banging on the tin.

Katies top teeth are almost through, very very swollen and can just feel it cutting through on one side, not bothering her too much though.

Cordelia - wow what a scare. Hope caitlin is ok and your nerves have settled. (Oh, and hope you got that shower...phew (holds nose)!!! Don't feel bad - i haven't washed my hair in about 5 days!

tabby - Yes I must say I had a sleepy giggle at myself when the wall appeared out of nowhere last night. Wasn't worried about myself - more worried I'd wake grumpy Kelsey.

Well, we had our first really difficult time going to bed tonight - her teeth really must be hurting. She normally goes to bed quietly or just a little grizzle but tonight it was really full on. Lots of crying and heaps or drooling (wet sheets). After perservering for a while I eventually got her up again for 30mins and gave her a cuddle and a dose of Sm33 gel (is that what it's called). Thank goodness she just had a little whinge and went to sleep. But to top it off DS carried on a bit at bedtime. He is now fully toilet trained during the day (proud mummy) and just wears a nappy for accidents at night. Unfortunately he uses the loo as a stalling tactic at bedtime. As soon as I turn the light out he informs me he has to go to the toilet and we have had a few disagreements the last few nights that have ended in tears (him - not me).

Oh well, tomorrow is another day and a new challenge. Isn't parenting fun?????

sleep well xxx

Forgot to say -
Korahblue - I also had a giggle at macy and the formula tin. She must have been like the little orphan waiting for her dinner (also reminded me of "Maggie" in an episode of the simpsons where she rattles her cup on the bars of the cot like she is in prison!!) Lucky she was a good girl and didn't get up to too much mischief. I wonder how long he was asleep?????

Gosh its been ages!
Mousebrown so awful to read about yr DD and so glad she's ok! Also be a great read to hear how your DH went with them both. But glad some normality back for you all and you;re back at work.
V sorry to read about Caitlin too Cordelia, and how terribly scary too! Any idea what it was? Fever obv, but from allergy/bite/sick?? Poor you and her.
Also best wishes to Flicka RRV is such an languishing illness in some, you poor thing, might need to share Tired Mummy's name I think..I remember 20something single childless friend being just exhausted from it! But all best for recovery.Speaking of that Tired Mummy Also for Sierra and hope her eyes are clearing up perfectly.

Hunter has a COUGH that is awful raspy and sounds like he's got that big bit of broccoli in there (lol Flicka!) Oh, but it only happens about 2am.. So last night I put his mattress on a tilt. That is probably so no no..but will see what happens tonight.

As for STANDING and pulling up, K, can Hamish sit up by himself, oh yikesy yikes yikes! Whose cot is still at low side level! Hmm not sure can they sit up in gro-bags?? Of course! Great about the crawling.

As for Alex who obv just wants to roll!! Hunter is now a proficient roller/sitter/and a bit of commando crawler, but found he really sits and 'works' if he has higher toys..maybe that's an alternative for Alex? H has one of those archaic 'educational' toys of the beads on plastic coated wire. He sits and diligently moves all the bits. But anything roll-able he'll be on his tummy.

Oh and Hamish sounds like a mensa contender :) of course. Excellent social skills there about self made peekaboo!

Great seeing their eyes light up isn't it. Hunters most joyful time is peekaboo and also being in one of those playground swings with the chain across the back. Such fun! He just loves it.

Tabby, Ouchy for Katies top teeth too. Same swollen bits here.
Lovely image, Macy and the formula tin :)

Any other B-Feeders whose little bubs are a bit too fascinated with their (.)(.)s!?

well off to bed, work can wait! Priorities in place after 8months! he he.

My gosh this place has gone off in the last 24 hours!!
I think of forgotten all the responses I was going to write.
Tabby- Bridget looks as though she is cutting her top two teeth aswell. She has been grumpy and wet down her front from constant dribble. I wish it would just hurry up!!
Yeah freddie for the crawling, Bridget is there too now!!
Korah- OMG about the dozing hubby and the wandering Macy! They really need to be watched (or contained!) once mobile.
Sick bubs- hope they get better soon.
Strawberry- yeah on the scan, how exciting!! Pics would be great!!

And now I have really forgotten the rest!

Us- yesterday Bridget pretty much started crawling properly,:smiliedance: but it is very slow!! When she needs to get somewhere quick she gets down and commando crawls but when she is just playing about she is up on all fours practising her crawling technique, It is quite cute. Only days I reckon now until she masters the skill and she is off and flying!!

Cold is still lurking around Bridget. My friend had a bub yesterday and I want to go see her today so I will have to leave Bridget at home with DH. Thats okay though, a bit of a break will do us good.

Anyway better go, have a good day everyone!!

Thanks everyone for the advice re sitting. Last nite he decided that he was happy to sit for a while which was good.. but only if Mummy is nearby... I am going to try the thing with the toys Charis!

STill no teeth...

He is eating well and growing. Another good sleep last night from 7 til 6am.. i am loving it but we had a few wake ups in the last few days..

Oops he knocked his head on the bottom of the coffee table after rolling right across the room. I even had pillows all around teh coffee table and had moved it, but the little devil managed to get there!!

He is loving swimming and is so attentive and listens so hard to his lovely teacher.. so cute. he was fully submerged many many times yesterday which he loooved.. I think i have a water baby. Good thing we live close to the beach!

Horrible weather.. raining for last two days...

Hope all the sick little ones get better soon..

Oooh before I forget.. can anyone tell me the deal with strawberries.. are the a "wait til 12 mnths fruit"..?

Hope you all have a good day.. better go get organised while bubs asleep..

wild at heart: Katie also hits her head quite often when rolling, have noticed though that the last few days she lowers her head much slower just in case there is impact. but that didn't stop her whacking the tv cabinet other night. ah the joys of learning. I was thinking re: what Charis suggested, even if you have a play matt with the hanging toys, could sit him in front of that..Did that with Katie at the start.
One of my boys didn't get teeth till quite late then got masses in a row!

liviesmum: How cute with the swapping crawling styles lol. cant wait! oh I know, it means a lot more watching and floor cleaning and baby proofing but I do think its great in many ways as well. We have one gate so far ready, for our room where the comps are so DP doesnt have to be in here with the door closed. Need another to seperate the dining/kitchen area from lounge but its quite a big gap and means $!

Charis: :hugs: for Hunter and his horrid cough, hope it eases soon. Some lovely weather soon for all of the bubs will help am sure! Lots of sunshine.

Flicka; :hugs: for the difficult night settling and hope it was a good night once done. Hope its a one off!

Nothing much here really, same o same o
Katie was back to 7am wake today so thats awesome. and shes back in bed 9am! Sleepy baby today.

thanks Tabby for the great idea re playgym. Tried today and happily sits for short time till he gets cranky and decides he doesn't want to bend his legs and he wants to lie down.. then he gets cross when he is lying lying down and he wants to sit up so does a half sit-up then rolls over..:hair: oh well will try a bit each day..

he said his first kind of word today.. he has been babbling forever but today he started saying dadda dadda da da dadda.. he was soo excited and smiled when he did it the second time..

Sorry to hear about bad night flicka.... how did it all pan out?

Hi-ya Girlies,

Both the kids and DH survived Tuesday home together. Got really :banghead: :hair: at DH when he asked me whats for dinner as I walked through the door. As usual he expected huge praise for folding up some washing - though by the looks of it DD1 did most of it (folded up inside out, rolled/scrunched up). That night he was in bed rather early, and ignored me when I said he could do the night shift too.

Flicka...To avoid delays and toilet drama s at bedtime our rule is, no wee before bed, no book.
Tabby...Yes, the target clothes are great. Have been twice so far this week. Only managed to get a 0 in the sets you described, would have rathered a 1.
Cordelia...:hugs: to you and Cfor your hospital visit. If you visited PMH, we would almost ahve crossed paths.
Wild@Heart...sorry (Wild@Heart...sorry) can't give specifics about strawberries, but gave TJ a tub of Goulburn Valley apple and Starwberry the other day without dramas and gave her a taste of a strawberry on Sat.

Last Thurs, TJ slept through (10.30-6), but has since returned to her horrid ways. Mon & Tues up 3 times and ast night it was twice.

TJ had her first lamb chop bone to chew on last night. She loved it and was extreemly disappointed when it fell on the floor and I cleaned her up.

Big sleeps everyone,
Lisa

Wild at heart: I actually didn't realize strawberries were a 12 month thing and had given Katie strawberry jam and strawberry yogurt just 2 weeks ago, all went well , then read it some where here on the hub not before 1yr. Other than that am unsure of specifics as well sorry.
My main avoidance is just peanuts till one yr, other than that as there is no allergy's etc both sides so we arnt avoiding much at all.

Mouse: lol we also gave Katie a lamb chop a little back. Love it dont they?! Have a pic here somewhere, it was a roast lamb bone so lots of juices etc.

We are on to finger food really well now with no gagging and with much enjoyment from Katie.
Yesterday arvo snack had cubes of cheese ( soft chedder) and today she had chunks of banana, a bit slippery though to get a hold of lol.

Hey ladies

A better night for us last night - thanks for thinking of me.

Mouse - Oh, good idea re no wee no book. Will try tonight. Ta!!

As for the strawberry thing - I was given a list of foods by paed and just follow that. I think generally it is no peanuts/peanut butter, strawberry and honey (botulism) until 12 months due to the allergy issues. Some things I have read also say no eggs until 12 months as they can often cause allergy - but I think I started scrambled/boiled eggs at about 10 months. I gave strawberry youghurt and jam earlier though - some of the baby youghurts are strawberry flavour....haven't been much help have I???

Charis - good to hear from you. yes, the fascination with boobs. I honestly think it is a bit of a boy thing. My DS even now loves to have a feel of peoples boobs - mine, nannas, aunts, friends. he tries to 'cop a feel' at any chance. WHen he was a bub he would always try and latch on if i didn't have a shirt on - in the shower especially and sometimes pulled at my bathers in the pool!! On the other hand Kelsey loves her milky bar but sometimes gives me a look like "get those things out of my face". She isn't as interested.

Take care everyone

OMG Charis, not only can we sit in a gro-bag, we can get on all fours and stand and rock the cot whilst grizzling instead of sleeping...
I'm finding falling backwards sn't too bad as H can keep his head lifted so it usually doesn't hit the floor too hard, but he reaches forward/ up for things and misjudges the distance so falls forward and sometimes smacks his face on whatever he was reaching for: chair/ table edge etc.
woops, he's awake again after a very short sleep. I really think the teeth are imminent. best go.

Strawberries: given that there is a heinz strawberry dessert for 6 monthers I assumed they were fine. I even gave Caitlin one to suck on Sunday - maybe that's why she got sick!!!

Milk - Caitlin had a total of 350ml yesterday and a bit of weetbix and yoghurt.. i'm gonig to make an appointment with CHN coz that's just not right - it's been liek that for 2 weeks so not normal. She's still gaining weight, having wet nappies, perfectly happy so maybe she's just a small eater. I don't know :( she's 6.4kgs at 8.5 months :/ So far today (and she only has 1 bottle left) she has had 260ml and half a tin of custard.

boobs - Caitlin is always scruffling away down there - mostly when she's tired. She loves pulling my shirt down and she strokes!! I think it's funny but have to remind myself sometimes that people may think it's inappropriate!

Have fun ;)

Wildatheart, C sounds much like Alex with sitting up and is just starting to sit for a few seconds unsupported with me very closeby because he still loses balance very easily. No crawing either. He was shown up by all the younger ladies in his Kids in Harmony class - they all happily crawled after their coloured balls and Cameron just looked at the ball and then me as if to say "so you gonna get that for me or what?!". Cheeky monkey.

Still doing much better at getting him down for naps & bedtime but doing lots of sleep moving in the cot. This morning he had one leg (still enclosed in grobag) sticking through bars at the top of the cot and seems to prefer lying across the cot, often with feet up in the air to one side. How can that be comfortable?! And Charis, you're not the only one with cot still at low side level :o .

C alternates between being indifferent & very loving/gentle towards my boobies (and those of any female visitors!). Usually latches on very enthusiastically with big eyes & open mouth but when he's had enough he lets me know in no uncertain terms. Starts blowing raspberries before coming off and then tries to roll/lunge off my lap. To where, I do not know but have to be quick to catch him.

Flicka, haven't walked into a wall yet but often I close my eyes half asleep while resettling C over my shoulder & when I open them am slightly disoriented as not always the view I'm expecting. Find myself starting to put C down into a cot that is not a cot but a change table......

Definitely need some new clothes for C so will be checking out Target tomorrow.

Cordelia: She probably is just a small eater and she is petite, as you say shes still gaining and happy as so its probably all good. let us know what chn says though.

Cat: hehe had to lol @ the when done with boobie, Katie does the same with bottle, soon as shes had enough she tries to tumble away, and as you say to where???? lol
She even does it when just sitting on my knee, any one would think she could crawl now.

Hope everyone gets a good nights sleep

Tom is obsessed with my boobs at the monent too...he rips at my shirt and bangs his head into my chest. It can be a bit embarrassing when he does it in public....i even had a lady on the bus say...i think he is hungry love!

Congrats on the bfp...good luck with the pregnancy. I hope you dont get induced again.

Tabby good luck with ttc. Im sure it will happen soon for you.

Tom is having a banana for breakfast followed by bm

Avacado for lunch with bm

Sweet potato or other veggie for dinner, with milk. Im thinking that maybe im underfeeding the poor kid! Maybe its time to up the food! He still has a lot of milk, although my supply has dropped quite dramatically. By boobs are fast turning into pancakes!

He isnt crawling, but rolls like crazy. Congrats to those crawling!

He babbles a lot and is quite manipulative with me. Seems to be an angel for everyone except me! His dad can't believe how he carries on when i pick him up! He just seems to want me attention ALL the time! But he is happy to go to his dads house and only puts it on when we get home. Grrr!

Cameron can be the same Acacia. He was happily playing with DH the other night but noticed me walk by without stopping to give him any attention and immediately burst into inconsolable tears. DH wanted me to ignore him but couldn't help myself. A few seconds after picking him up the sobbing stopped and was replaced by cheeky grin. Also know what you mean about the flat pancakes! Some days I'm still as full as when my milk first came in and then other days almost empty. They still haven't worked out the right balance for C's constantly changing appetite!

Tabby, yep C tries to lunge off my lap when I'm holding him as well. As if he forgets that he doesn't have the means to actually get where he wants to go by himself yet. He does it from sitting position on the floor as well and ends up a slumped over heap with cheek to the floor and hands and legs stuck beneath him.

I havent been on here for ages. Ella is growing so much she is 7 months 5 corrected age. She is rolling around the floor. Saying Dada. not really sitting up yet. Eating 3 meals a day. Wont drink water out of a suck cup. Got any Tips???? breast fed ummmm about 8 times a day still. 3 large feeds the rest small. The nurse told me she should be only on 3-4 feeds by now. Goodness only knows how I am to achieve this when she wants it after every solid meal and in between as well. She is waking at 10pm and 2am and again at 6am for a feed still. Ella is having a power nap for about 1 hour in the mornings and about 2 hours in the afternoons now. What about your children ? Ella is starting to be naughty I think...... hehe. Every time I walk out of eyesight of her she screams like her throat is being cut. What a joy she is.

She said Da Dada on fathers day for the first time and my husband is so excited that he now has it for his mobile phone ring tone. He is such an amazing Da Dada and husband to his girls. Ella and I are so lucky.

We are going to work 8 days a fortnight and Ella comes with me. On the Friday we are going to play group in the morning now. It has been a god thing to start doing. I have met some really lovely people. Hopefully will make some new friends eventually. Any way take care Ill stop rabbiting on and on.

Ps I put some photos on my bub hub thingy.

Hey gorgeous girls,

Cat, arachel and Acacia - kelsey is the same when I leave her with DH. She is fine for a little while but when she realises I have left the room she yells out for me. I also can't really leave her alone in the lounge room anymore - she wants to be with me all of the time!! I find she is a bit better if I tell her what I am doing like "mummy is just going to make a cup of tea in the kitchen and I'll be back soon". Sometimes I think they get upset because they don't realise we have left them.
That is why part of me is looking forward to crawling - she will be keen to explore on her own then.

Speaking of which - Kelsey has been getting up into crawl position on her own today - very proud mummy here!!! She was even doing it when I put her to bed. Charis and Cat - I still have my cot side down but will have to put it up soon!!!

Kelsey has been a bit grizzly again today. She is just drooling non stop. I actually changed her shirt 3 times today because of the drool. Those teeth must really be hurting.

naps - We are having about 1 hour in the morning, 2 hours early afternoon and a power nap late arvo (if we are lucky). Today she had 3 sleeps because we didn't go out anywhere so it really depends.

I got AF back about 6 weeks ago but haven't seen her since. Very hard to be organised when she isn't regular. Quite sure i am not pg as Dh and I have been careful (ok, well sometimes we are!!!!).

i'd better go and wake DH up as he has to go to work.

have a great weekend. xxx

arachel2: Just keep offering the sippy cup, she will get the hang of it eventually. Took us about over a week of offering it at every meal.

Flicka: Same here, am looking forward to the crawling too, even though can be harder work for us its so much fun for them!

Katie had a huge sleep this arvo, longest for a while, 2 and a half hrs and only woke cos the dog barked, didnt mind as was 4 pm by then anyhow.
Shes wanting lots of formula today as well as good sleeps today both morning and arvo, another growth spurt?!! sheesh lol

Hi everyone! It's been ages since I've been to bubhub as I've changed over to a new computer (I'm now on a mac) and I've been really busy.

jacstar ... congrats on the :bfp:

sippy cups ... I've tried 2 with josh, neither with success. The first one was a pooh bear one with a great nonleak valve, but a hard plastic top. He just bit it and got nothing, so used it to bang everywhere. I then tried the Nuby one from Tommee Tippee with a soft top. I think he got closer to getting water out of it, but mostly he used it to bang on the highchair table. It is a nonleak valve if you tip it upsidedown, but if the valve is banged on anything water comes out. I got sick of having him, me, the highchair and a large area around the highchair sprayed with water, so I gave up. I did try with each meal for nearly 2 or 3 weeks, but he still didn't work out how to drink, or wasn't interested. The CHN said some babies will drink lots of water and others will only have a couple of mL. I guess he's the latter.

food ... Josh went off solids for nearly a week when he had a cold and has only been back on them for 10 days. He has 2 - 4 baby food jar's worth of food a day plus a rusk or two (which he now makes a serious mess with!). Due to my and my dh's long list of allergies (although dh isn't allergic to any food and I'm only allergic to kiwi fruit) and Josh's reflux, his list of possible foods is short and I'm trying to wait at least 4 days before introducing a new food. It's driving me nuts though, but having a screaming baby all night is not that appealing as an alternative. So, he has pumpkin, sweet potato, potato, carrot, sweetcorn, apple, pear, banana, mango (in the fruit gel which he's had a couple of times), custard and I think that's it. He can't tolerate any cereal, but it is about time to try them again. I'm thinking about trying meat in the coming days.

Milk feeds ... this is where I need help. Josh is having anywhere from 5 - 6 feeds a day, but my problem is that if I give him solids before milk (even an hour or two before) he often won't have a full milk feed and he'll stop partway through his first side. It can mean up to 9 hours can go by before one breast is emptied. It would be fine if he did one side each feed and my supply would adjust, but he's ALL OVER THE PLACE!! About half the time he'll have both sides and other times he'll have one side, or one side & part of the 2nd side, or just a few sucks (obviously that's when he's not hungry, but he gets enough to sustain him for another couple of hours the little rascal!!). He'll also go 3 hours between feeds, or 7 hours ... depending on his mood. There is no pattern to it at all. Thinking about it this morning makes me jealous of bottle feeding ... at least you can just throw out the excess milk instead of being in agony all day.

strawberries ... apparently they can cause reactions in babies under 1 like a rash around the mouth. That's what one of the knowledgable mums in my mother's group said the other day. I think some of the baby food that says 'strawberry' could just have flavouring and not actual strawberries (I don't have any so I haven't looked). Josh won't have any til he's one, or any cows milk, or peanuts til he's older than 3 or 4. I'm so scared he'll get food allergies.

sleeping ... this is another reason I'm struggling with increasing solids and sorting out BM feeds. Josh sleeps for a hugely variable amount of time. Some days he'll only have 30 minutes sleep between 8am and 2pm, other days he'll have 3 hours. In the afternoon the minimum is usually 2 x 45 minutes, but he can do 45 minutes, then later have a 3 hour nap! He also has a 45 minute nap around our dinner time. That's the only predictable sleep. It sounds like he is sleeping a lot, and yet he is sleep deprived still. He's hard to settle, especially as the day progresses and yesterday afternoon he was sobbing in his sleep he was so overtired. He goes to bed for the night at 9 or 10pm, typically waking at 2amish for milk, then waking anywhere from 5am - 8am.

Sorry for the huge post. Things are pretty busy around here and I don't know when I'll get to post again, so I thought I'd make the most of Josh being asleep and comment on lots of things.

Josh is crawling backwards (he started on Tuesday) and commando crawling forwards. I got a playpen this week and it's great! I can stop worrying about him chewing on electrical leads, pulling down tablecloths, getting stuck between things, etc. He still only has 2 teeth (for those of you with bubs without teeth don't worry - my neice is 1 in a couple of weeks and only got her first tooth 2 weeks ago - after Josh!). He's not saying words yet, but 'talking' a lot!

Better go start on the laundry, or the cleaning, or something equally as tedious ... um ... useful.

just a quick post here in reply to Mim's novel!! I think the answer is usually 'routine, routine, routine'....I'm not sure about the feeds, but it sounds like you need to 'impose' a routine on Josh to help his sleep become more predictable. Hopefully the feeds will sort themselves out better with a good sleep routine. IIt really helped us although I agree, since introducing solids straight after sleep and BF before sleep (not feeding to sleep though), its harder to get Hamish to take a full BF and he still wants two good feeds every night - around 11 and anywhere from 3 to 5.
Hope this is of some help. Got to go and rescue the crawling monster from aspaghetti heap of power cords he's spied and is very interested in.
Kx

Just a thought Mim, can you express at the 3hr mark between feeds or when you feel uncomfortable. If he's ready to feed 3o mins later just give him the new EBM, if he goes longer save it for a rainy day or to mix in cereal. Nothing worse than feeling uncomfortable but I know expressing aint always easy either.

Flicka, Congrats on the toilet training and I so know what you mean about the wee stops after bedtime - DS1 discovered that stalling tactic quickly too. I march him straight to the loo & back with no conversation - he's getting better. We don't want to encourage him deliberately using the nappy but it can be tricky.

I can see M's 1st bottum tooth is about to cut through - he has been a bit whingey - not sure whether it's the cold he has or the teeth! He has been sleeping lots too, 3hrs this morning!

Happy weekends to all!

Hi Mim

Know how you feel, C can be just as variable with his feeds & sleeps as Josh so I also know the discomfort of bursting boobies one day (& flat the next!). I'm still doing milk before solids because I'd rather he fill up on milk and fuss with his solids than vice versa. Just me though. That said, usually waiting at least an hour after milk until his solids and he'll usually finish that too, about 5 icecubes worth (what an interesting measure of quantity!). And then if he's fighting his afternoon sleep he may get another little milk top-up feed to settle.

Sleep he does 30min-1hr mornings and same in the afternoon (with the odd 2.5hr sleep thrown in, usually when I have somewhere else I need to be!). Bed is 7, wake-up about 6 and down to one feed now anywhere between 11 & 3. I swear by the 7pm bedtime. You said Josh has a 45min nap around tea time, any chance you could turn this into his bedtime by bringing his bedtime rituals forward (or if this is too early try and stretch him out until 7 without the nap) giving him a few hours extra sleep in the early evening to add to his sleep quota?

Imagine how easy life would be if we knew exactly what they were going to do and when & for how long they were going to do it BEFORE they did it. Hmmm...not sure that makes sense, time for bed for me I think!!

wild at heart
08-09-2007, 09:11 PM
Mim and cat, I also swear by the 7pm bedtime. We also have a morning wake up time too (7am).. so even if Alex woke up three times during night and work up at 5.30am for a feed, I would still get him up at 7am (if I could wake up, that is..) and if he woke say 6.30am I would wait until 7am to feed him. I dunno why it works, but for some reason it really helped..

Before, he was waking up around 4.30am for a feed and then he must have thought to himself that he could have a big sleep in then until 8.45am, which then puts the whole day out..

Alex has a sleep at around 1pm (if he's being a good boy..) wakes at around 3.30pm and used to have a 4.30pm catnap, but now he wakes at 3.30, has a feed (afternoon tea, I suppose) then plays til around 5.20-5.45ish when I give him his solids then he has a bath around 6ish or so then breastfeed and then bedtime routine etc etc at 7pm...

I agree, its soo hard to know what to do when trying to implement some kind of routine, and every day I find myself asking dh what he thinks and often he has no clue either.. but you bumble through and as soon as you figure it out, you need to change the routine as they change/ get older/ develop. How good is hindsight..!! oh.. and sometimes its seems the whole solids thing makes evrything even more complicated at times!:hair:

I have gone on haven't i.. :ecomcity:

Nitey nite gals... have good sleeps:sleeping:

09-09-2007, 02:42 PM
yes, sorry Mim I wasn't very specific about the 'routine' thing...I thought of a better word than implrement as well...but its gone again....
anyway, I also swear by the 7pm bed time and Hamish wakes around 6.45am every day - must be the light or something?? Occasionally its 6.30 and occasionally 7am but never later, even when he's had a feed at 5.30am. Hope you find something that works for you!

Sleeping and bedtime- When you think you have a routine it goes out the window!! Today Bridget did not sleep all morning and actually stayed awake til 1:30pm!! So she slept til about 3:30 pm. She has just gone down now. Dh was like 'OMG, she wont sleep tonight!!', but I thought give her an hour, get her up and put her back at 8:30. Oh I dont know, it seems to be a different sleeping pattern every day ATM!!:hair:

Liviesmum, I hope you were able to enjoy all the guests after all your running around! Regarding routines M is up at 6am, has a 9am sleep (usually 1 - 2hrs) and then usually sleeps 1pm-3pm then back to bed for the night between 6:30 & 7pm.

We have started the Birthday Party season, 3 down, 3 more to go before DS1's Family Do! Very hard explaining to an almost 3yr old that his turn will come - eventually!

M cut that tooth today - I can just feel it! M has also improved his rolling and sitting techniques - almost proficient in both!

Very short arvo nap and woke cranky, some panadol solved that though and all happy again.

The usual sleep ( most days) and has been pretty consistent.
630-7pm bed with no waking and a 630-7am wake up. 1hr morning naps and a 1-2hr arvo one.

And its just going to be a whinge...

Well I've landed an unexpected day off today. I went to take Macy to childcare but the biatch of a director heard her cough and said they wouldnt accept her unless I had taken her to the doctors and got a sick certificate to say she was well enough. God, that cow thinks she knows everything. I told her it is just the same cold she has had for the past week but that I would take her to the doctors anyway. Does she think I would leave my daughter with them if she wasnt well grrrr :hair:

Anyways, the doctor said she is fine and just had a cold. Her lungs, ears etc are all perfectly clear and she was fine to go to childcare. He also said to tell the director that because Macy has laryngomalacia [floppy cartilage in her throat] that her breathing will sound worse and she is more prone to catching the sniffles and it makes it a bit harder for her body to get rid of them

I know the director has a responsibility to the other kids in their care but she is a real cow with the way she speaks to parents. I know a couple of mums that have left the centre in tears because she has made them feel like bad parents

phew, rant over, I feel much better now

I'll look on the bright side that I get to spend extra time with my amazing daughter and clean up the house after a busy weekend :babydust2:

Korah, that director sounds like a right old cow! Hope you enjoyed your day off though!

Us, Have had a great day, Storytime at the library for DS1, a little shopping and this arvo my latest ebay purchase arrived - some Crown Devon pieces that are in the same design as a couple of jugs I have from my grandparents. They make up quite a nice little set now, 2 Jugs, 2 vases and a cute bowl on a stand all dating around 1909!

M is still only averaging 300-400mls of formula a day but boy can he put his food away and he really lets you know when it's mealtime! He tried some small pieces of fresh bread in his bolognaise for lunch and he didn't slow down!

BTW AF arrived dead on schedule so no surprises for me this month - felt a little disappointed even though we are planning for late next year when I think I will cope a little better with 3!

Thanks everyone for your comments. I think Josh's reflux is mucking things up too. If I offer solids shortly after milk he'll take them, but then he'll vomit on and off for a couple of hours and won't sleep cause he feels sick when I lie him down. He was constipated too and I think that was affecting his appetite. His constipation cleared yesterday, but he only slept 2 1/2 hours in total during the day yesterday (8am til 10pm). Currently he's asleep and he's up to 4 hours (for the day). He does sleep up to 6 or 7 hours during the day. He's really a big sleeper.

Does anyone have ideas on how to get him to go to sleep at 7pm? He's often up for the day before 8am, but if he does get up then he'll be begging me to put him back to bed in under half an hour. I've tried bringing the evening routine (play, bath, feed) to earlier, but then he still only sleeps for 45 minutes and wants to get up. He's often at his most energetic between 7 and 9pm, much to our annoyance. If I try and keep him awake during the day he just grizzles, screams and is generally very unhappy.

I've made an appointment for the CHN this Thursday which will help. I think we'll get there soon ... somehow.

korah ... I hope you had a good day at home, pity about how it happened though.

tabby ... :hugs: to katie and I hope she feels better soon.

I think I'm out of suggestions Mim but I'm sure the CHN will have some for you.

For the record it is 7.04pm and C is most definitely not asleep yet. In his cot rolling and sooking and laughing and grizzling and turning his mobile on & off and getting stuck at the top of the cot. When he really cracks it I go in and turn him over and back to the middle of the cot and we start all over again. Same for his afternoon naps today & yesterday. What fun!

Maybe it's because he's the man of the house now that DH is away on course for 6 weeks as of yesterday. We managed to have some family portaraits done on Saturday before he left. C's ezcema on his face was hardly noticeable and managed to get a last minute sitting at Pixie photos. Ready in 2 weeks, can't wait to see them!

Not much else except to confess that although we were just looking at houses for fun, we may have landed ourselves in trouble. Well not yet but thinking about it. Gorgeous renovated 3 bedroom split level home, wooden floorboards, pool and landscaped backyard (with cubby house!), across the road from a park & short walk to a river. Had such a nice feel to it but heaps of people looking & with DH away makes things a bit tricky anyway. We never do things the easy way though, much too boring!

Sounds of silence from the nursery so I think he's nodded off....now to go and peek and see what position he's fallen asleep in and decide if I move him or not!

House Hunting or 'Looking' sounds like a lot of fun Cat - we won't be ready for years the way we're going but we're happy enough! Great that you were able to get pixie photos done b4 DH left.

Tabby, poor little K, hope the teeth cut quickly and I so know what you mean about the poos - M's are very smelly this past couple of days and he's not happy sitting in it (who could blame him)

Just a quickie
Katie poos have gotten worse :( boy are they smelly as!!!
Every nappy today had something in it the poor love now has a bit of a burnt bum, so on with the cream.
Also again today she had no arvo nap, just wouldnt go down! Cried her heart out each time so we went for a walk instead for 2 hrs. Finally have her down now 645pm! She was awake since morning nap, so almost 7 hrs.
Think shes finally gone off, or at least is going to as no fight this time.

Cat: haha thats what Ive been dealing with for weeks, in and out to put her back on her back and resettle, shes all over the place, yep great fun  lol. Though is only the day naps here, nights are "usually" easy as.

please please let those teeth be cut tomorrow!!!

Hey everyone,
Havent really had the chance to catch up on the posts but thought i'd pop in & say

Cat - That house sounds great. We are house hunting at the moment, have looked at one so far & another on wednesday. Only renting though at the moment cos we want to be in a better financial position before we buy. Want to pay our cars off first. We now have a 3 bedroom house but really want 4 bedrooms. As DD1 is getting older i think she will want her own room soon & i'd love to move closer to her school so we can walk & get some exercise lol.

Tabby - Poor Katie, hope those teeth come thru quickly for her. Sierra has been quite upset today & i thinkits her teeth finally making there way thru. Her bottom gum is very swollen & she has a red line across the top of her gum where the teeth will probably cut thru. Poor bubba. Think she will get 2 at once.

Besides Sierra being a little upset/grumpy today, she has been really good. Finally getting over her cold & sore eyes. She still has heaps of snot but isnt fussed about it now. She is almost crawling. When she sits she moves up onto her knees & rocks, very cute but then she sits back down
Going to see the CHN next week, so that will be good to see how much shes grown. Shes just starting to go into size 0 pants but the tops are still quite big.
Well not much else happening really, DH has had a bad ear infection & had one day last week off. He got a new job (with the same company) which he starts next monday. He's getting a new car so i dont know what we are going to do with 3 cars now lol. Oh well, free fuel for him & will save heaps of $$ on fuel from monday, so i'm not complaining.

Oooh better go, have a TV show i want to watch.
Happy sleeps to all.

Hi ladies

Sammy - Bit of a bummer about AF - wouldn't it be nice to get a surprise like a BFP!!! You always sound like you are coping so well with your 2 so I'm sure you can handle it! As for TT and bedtime - it can be so hard can't it? I'm sure DS saves up number 2's until we have him tucked up in bed. However, he was good tonight and went long before bedtime.

Korah - Your daycare sound really picky. I have been into mine and complained about other peoples sick kids (not just minor colds but really full on snot, cough, fever) but they never seem to turn them away and then my child ends up crook. I guess it can be a viscious circle. Hope you enjoyed you day at home though!

Mim - The 7pm bedtime is really hard. DS was a bit of a night owl but once he was a bit older and could understand about 'bedtime' it was really easy. I know it's not a solution for right now but he will fit in eventually.

Cat - yes, tell me about the rolling around in the cot. Kelsey twists and turns until she turns the music and light show on. Sometimes she fiddles around in bed for 45 mins before she falls asleep. Just wait until Cameron can stand up - then it is a whole new thing trying to get them to lay down and go to bed! (PM'd you about coffee)

Tabby - Poor katie!!! If it is any help Kelsey had about 3 really grizzly days while the top teeth came thru and then back to normal. Have you tried SM33 gel??? I find it is much better than bonjela IMO.

Us - Last night was the best sleep I have had in ages. Kelsey didn't get up for a feed until 5am and then went back and napped until 6.30 which was great. I feel human again!! She is eating well and LOVES drinking water from her sippy cup. No crawling yet but she loves to sit and watch her big brother play.

take care

Havent been on bubhub fpor a few days, amazingly I never find the time anymore to sit down and just look on the net. Clea is a handful, she is so active and loves walking around the walls and furniture. She is starting to test herself by walking along the lounge and letting go and taking a step. and she climbs from the floor onto the lounge so i cant turn away for a second.

FOOD... ahhhh.... well Clea eats okay. I increased the amount a bit because she was hungry and by the afternoon she was wanting lots of boob, but not wanting to latch on and then she would cry and we both ended up stressed. It meant I was nervous about going anywhere. So I introduced an 11am formula feed. and she was great for 2 days and then back to crying so today I did a 2pm feed and she had 200mls and was the happiest little thing all afternoon, had a quick booby feed to sleep tonight and now she is sleeping... sorry that was a long rant but I have been scarred of giving her formula because I dont want to wean her yet but she was obviously hungry.

bedtime.... rarely before 9pm, although tonight it was 8.30.

tabby poor katie, she doesnt sound well. hope it all clears up quckly. Clea has only cut one tooth so far, so I suppose we still have all that to look forward to.

mim1 hope all goes well at the CHN and josh settles down soon.

well better go, want to read up on feeding both breast and bottle formula, does anyone know if 400mls of formula and about a cup of food (fruit bread cheese and yogurt spread out over the whole day) and about 6 BF's in 24hours is alot? I am not sure if I can overfeed her, surely she wont take food if she is not hungry?

please please let those teeth be cut tomorrow!!!

Poor little Katie...
We have had a few days from hell here too... well to be honest the days have been ok but the nights.. aaargh.. has to be the teeth as he is NORMALLY such a good boy at night now (sleeping through).

He has been waking up twice but nothing makes him calm... :gloomy: panadol seems to do nothing, same as bonjela.. might try sm33... he is soo cranky and has red gums. BUT he is getting the two teeth either side of the bottom two.. if you get what I mean..

Cat- you are lucky you can even venture into Cameron's room.. if I dare go into Alex's room when he is asleep he wakes and gets cranky.. I have to trust that the silence is good..

But on another note.. we have decided to SIT... yay:smiliedance:.. now the new trick is to try to do a dive across teh lounge to get the remote.. and also started sliding on his side to get toys...

well hes awke.. best be off to tend to grumpy bum..

Yesterday was so lovely at home, I decided to have another one today - well Macy woke up with conjuctivitis so that decided it for me. Had another conversation with the centre director on the phone this morning. She made it sound like I made it up about taking Macy to the doctor yesterday and then has the audacity to tell me 'it really cant be good for Macy to have a cough for so long' Thanks for that one Captain Obvious.... so today I am going to write a letter to the owners of the centre and let them know what a cow she is

Mim - Macy will stay up until 9-10 o'clock some nights. Usually when she has a 3rd sleep during the day. I find if I can stretch her out to around 8 without having the 3rd sleep she stays down for the night. Otherwise Im sure the CHN will be able to help in some way - good luck

Tabby or anyone else - if you want me to get some teething gel from the hospital [which works wonders] just let me know and I'll post it to you. Bonjella etc pale in significance to this stuff! Meanwhile, I hope the teeth come through quickly

Well my mission for the day is to cross at least 5 things of my 'to do' list. You know those annoying things that arent urgent but need to be done. Cleaning the oven will be # 1

What a fun day!!

Last night was soooo bad! The damn cockatoo woke her about 9pm (usually she sleeps through his screeching) anyhow she didnt want to go back and was obviously in pain, no nurofen! silly me forgot to re-stock. So finally she cuddles off to sleep in my arms ( every time cot she screamed and got distressed) Now for about 2 months shes hated being cuddled to sleep so I knew for sure she is out of sorts there. another wake at 235am same thing again cuddled to sleep in relciner. I woke at 530 am to hear dp showering for work. popped her to bed and awake at 730am.
Havnt felt this tried or drained for months!!!
anyhow weve just been to the chemist and got the nurofen and given a dose and I think shes going off now for the morning nap.

Korah: Thanks for the offer, might take you up on that, even if for next time, sounds like good stuff. pm the price and postage when youve time?
All the best in getting the 5 jobs done with ease
Hope Macy's eyes clear up quickly.

wild at heart: Is it more painful the side teeth?
I thought I was going to be lucky with Katie, she cut the bottom two with such ease! ah well, cant last forever right? lol
Hope you get some relief soon too xx

DFB: My belief and understanding is still that they will only take what the want, so over feeding shouldnt be a issue still. should still be plenty of milk till 12 months anyhow and sounds like doing fine there.

Flicka: I have such a hard time using gel, shes a stubborn little bugger sometimes and really hard to dry it then apply with much success. Any tips appreciated though lol. will grab some of that gel anyhow, worth a try.cheers for that
Lovely sleep from Kelsey, lets hope you get lots lots more! Yep sure does make a difference how we feel.

tired*mummy: ah lovely to hear Sierra is feeling better!!!!!! :fingerscrossed: she cuts those teeth with ease, katie got both those at once and not a peep about it.
Making up for it with these top two though lol

better go, shes not settling

WARNING - "me" post to follow.

Whew what a day.

DS woke at 4am with a high temp. So after the usual concoctions of medication the temp hadn't gone down. Off to the docs who couldn't find anything obvious wrong ie sore throat, earache. So then doc says he has concerns DS might have influenza A. Anyway, it is very unlikely but still has me worried. Doc started DS on antibiotics as a precautionary measure and sent him off for tests. Several blood tests (holding down screaming child) and an awful nasal tube up his nose to test mucous membranes. Poor DS was very upset but also very brave. And I didn't even cry!! We should have the results back in a couple of days so looks like I am house bound until then. Doc said it is probably more likey he just has a virus of some sort so fingers crossed for that. Gosh i worry so much when they are sick.

Tabby - Hope Katie is a bit better today. I don't dry Kelsey's gums for the SM33 - I just shove it on and give it a rub.

Korah - Hope Macy's conjunctivitis (sp?) is a bit better. Your day care director has a real nerve...wonder if she has any kids of her own? Or maybe she is just an expert on everyone elses???

DFB - great to hear from you. I can't believe Clea is cruising already. I think she will be our first walker in this group! Sorry no advice on ff & bf combination - don't even know how to sterilise a bottle - don't even own one!

Wild at heart - Yay for 'grumpy bum' sitting!!!

Speaking of grumpy bubs - my little donut is awake. Grrr - she only slept 30 mins!!!

I forgot to say about yesterday
Katie quite often is in her walker while I buzz around house and I sometimes leave the fridge door open and she tried to grab the milk or water bottle.
DS1 says "mum I think Katies thristy cos shes helping her self to the water" .The cold water ( in a cordial bottle) and she had pulled it into her lap in the walker, upside down! and I said "oh I hope the lids on properly" and as I approached her she was making the funniest sounds, I knew it was loose before I even checked, it was dribbling onto her leg and cold as. The look on her face was priceless. so was the laughter that followed while I stripped her off on the dining room couch as ds1 laughed his head off and she joined in laughing too, all the while looking at ds1 as if to say "hahha that was funny huh?". Cheeky bubba! Can see my two darling boys are going to make a cheeky one of her.

Keep us posted results wont you :hugs:

Oh ok, will grab some of it this week.

We have 1 hr 30 and still asleep! YAY. Probably catching up from last night/morning and the nurofen is working too. oh shes refusing the dummy last night and again today..must be soooo sore!

Oh Flicka, hope its all okay. What an awful worry. Hope DS is okay.:hugs:

Well today i am trying no formula and trying to get Clea back to breast and solids. Someone suggested giving her some protein food to fill her up more and give her more energy since she is so active. It also occured to me that since she is physically strong and a bit more active for her age (average) her digestion is probably also more like an older baby. Hope that makes sense. Anyway, going to the baby doctor tommorrow so will get some advice about food based on her actual weight, mobility etc. rather than relying on general suggestions.

Tabby if she is sleeping so long hopefully you are through the worst of it, poor little thing.

Clea only has one tooth and still hardly any hair, I think she has spent all of her energy climbing and cruising rather than growing teeth and hair!

Well, yes it was a lovely house we were looking at tired*mummy but not meant to be. Called the agent today and already under contract for well above the asking price only 2 days after the first open house. :(

To Tabby & all the other mums of teething bubs, hope the suffering is shortlived. Teething is something we still have to look forward too, no signs yet. And LOL at Katies antics with the water.

Wildatheart, C loves the remote (& phones)too but I can't work out the fascination. It's not brightly coloured & doesn't make funny noises but if he sees it he just has to have it.

Managing ok without DH so far, even bathtime which is normally his department. Heaps easier than the 6 weeks he was home with ankle in a cast because at least it's only me and C (and the dog, cats, fish & yabby) I have to look after.

With food he is starting to tolerate lumps & bits better now. No more pureeing, just using the masher. Had a suck on a chop last night and loved it, a finger of toast in the mornings that mostly just gets slobbered and spat out and he ate a slice of pear this arvo. At least I assume he did because all I could find when I cleaned up after him were a few tiny remnants.

Good sleeps today so I actually got some work done. Slept through until 6.30am, 2 hour nap this morning and 90mins this arvo. And finally asleep now after 30mins of the usual antics. I tell you, if he could sleep like that every day life would be bliss.

Hope your DS is feeling better Flicka & that Macy's conjuctivities clears up soon Korah.

DFB, whenever I think C is being a handful I just think about what Clea must be getting up to. No crawling here and no interest in standing on our laps even - although jumping is another matter!

Korahblue....Grrrrrrr to the Child Care Manager. Obviously has no real idea about kids. It's a wonder they have any kids at the centre during winter if they turn away those with a cough.
Mim...Hugs to J
Flicka...Hugs to DS. The blood tests must have been horrid. Have so far avioided them with DD1, think it would take several people to hold her down.
Tabby....Poor K with her teeth, hope things happen soon. LOL at the cold water.

Us, we've been busy. With the nice weather over the past few days (and chuckout coming soon) DH and I got into the garden for a bit of renovation. Out with the dead and the not-doing-well. We finally managed to get to the Animal Farm on Sunday to make up for DD1's birthday and Fathers day.

TJ has settled (will alter again tonight after I write this) into a slight routine. Waking at about 11pm then again at anywhere between 3.30 and 5 for a feed then back to sleep for 2-2.5 hours. Bought a new sippy cup today, seems to be getting more water from it as she bites down on it. She's been a real bugger for bottles during the day lately so really need her to get the hang of water soon. She had her first piklet and toasted cheese sandwich (DD1 remenant) today and loved both. Tried yogurt again on the weekend, but shortly after had another yucky nappy, so I won't be revisiting it for a while.

I've had another cold over the past few days, DH getting it a day later than me, but as usual he was "dieing and I wasn't as sick as him":banghead: .

As for clothes, TJ is into some of DD1's size 1 tops and pants.

Big sleeps everyone,
Lisa

Mouse: Am sure if Katie keeps growing at the rate she is she wont be far behind for some 1's!
Hugs ( though from a distance lol ) for the colds!! Yep they always get it worse, funny that??? haha, imagine 3 men in your house! though ds1 isnt like that, he suffers quietly, its DP and ds2!

Cat: :fingerscrossed: you get lots more of those lovely sleeps.
Makes the day that much easier thats for sure.

Where is my angel baby???? My goodness have I been spoilt . A shocker of a afternoon and evening.
She was hard to get down this arvo but finally got there and she had a hr. Then wouldnt go down tonight without heartbreak and sobbing!! Even to the point of coughing and choking. Sat her on my knee till about 9 when I tried again, nope no go. So gave her a bottle and she drifted off in my arms.
She doesnt seem so much as in pain, more just unsettled and VERY clingy, hates me leaving the room as well since all this started.

anyhoo, it will pass and I will get my angel back!

Will try catch up more tomorrow
Good sleeps to all! this time with myself and Miss K included lol

Hi ladies, how you all doing? A busy one by sounds of it!!

Mouse- I just crack it everytime I see your avatar, TJ looks so funny!!

Tabby- The teeth thing is horrible. Bridgets look like they are about ready to break through, she is dribbling constantly and on the bonjela regularly- and it has been going on for 2 weeks now!! Poor little Katie and the ice cold fridge water LOL!!!

Flicka- Bit scary about the flu A strain, i do hope all is okay and DS is on the mend.

DFB- Clea must be a handful, she is doing so much!!

Korah- Daycare director sounds like a real A$$! and then to get the conjuctivitis so conveniently the next day!! It is always the way!!

Sammy- Number 3!! anytime is the right time, you deal with it- I mean I have had to, and I dont feel like I am that committed to the whole motherhood thing- I say that as I like to still go out with my friends and love going to work etc!! I think it is really exciting; go on, join us!!!:smiliedance:

Cat13- Bummer about the house, sounded lovely.

Us- All is well after the busy weekend. Bridget is crawling around everywhere, does not want to sit and cuddle anymore!! My baby is long gone.
she is on my lap and trying to type so here goes:

Mouse – Talon’s into size 1 clothing. Went and stocked up on summer clothes for Talon while Kmart had 25% off kids clothing.

Tabby – :hugs: to you and Katie. I’ve been pretty lucky when Talon with his teeth no problems here. I also had to laugh about the water poor girl.

Flicka – :hugs: to you to darl. How scary about the flu. I hope DS is getting better.

Cat13 – Shame bout the house. I’m a firm believer if its meant to be, its meant to be.

Liviesmum - So happy to hear things are going good for you all.

Us – What a week we’ve had so far. Took Talon to Dr last Friday, he was given antibiotics, then it was time to take dsd to drs on Monday (she got the same thing as Talon) and then I had to take Talon back to Dr yesterday as he wasn’t getting any better. He’s now got bronchitis, poor little man. Back to the dr tomorrow just to make sure he’s getting better. Thank goodness my dr bulk bills. No matter how sick Talon is he’s never grumpy and still has a healthy appetite. Which is great.

As for me all is good in the pregnancy department. Bub is starting to kick alot and my belly is starting to grow bigger lol. Here is a pic of bub at last scan for those ladies that wanted to look. http://i155.photobucket.com/albums/s305/kelleigh75/babyno2.jpg. Not the best pic but it’s the best I can do. Will try and get some more up when I can.

Anyway better go, I think I’ve :ecomcity: enough. Have to go and do fruit and vege while Talon is asleep. Hubby has offered to look after him.:detective: Mmmm maybe I should head to the shopping centre instead of the fruit and vege shop lol I can do with some retail therapy .

Have a good Wednesday

Take care

Hi girlies, another day home - Im starting to get used to it again haha. Im taking Macy to the doctors after lunch to see if they will give her any eye drops and how long she needs to be away from childcare for. Hopefully I can go back to work tmrw as I was meant to be going to court about some people who havent paid their hospital bill.

Tabby - the teething gel is $6 and postage is about $4 so $10 all up. If you still want some PM me your address again and I'll get some tmrw whether or not Im at work. I hate to see our bubs not well

Flicka - hope DS is feeling better. My son had to have that tube up his nose when he was 3 months old. Turned out he had RSV and was fine once they started him on anti-virals

dragonflyblu - i know what you mean with bigger people food. Macy just has her food chopped into small pieces now if its homemade or if i buy it i get the over 10month range. She is fine with bigger pieces so that sounds like a good idea to try.

Yesterday macy had pineapple, tomato, cucumber, tuna steaks and pasta just chopped up.

mousebrown - would you believe the childcare director has 5 kids of her own plus grandkids. You would think she has some idea of how sensitive parents can be when people talk to them about their kids.....go figure. I think she just assumes she is an expert on everyone's kids

Strawberry - I cant believe how grown up Talon looks and to be in size 1's. He makes macy sound tiny as she is still in 00's and only just starting to grow out of some of her rompers. Glad everything is going well with the pregnancy - pic is soooo cute.

Well have a good hump day everyone!!

Hi ladies

Thanks for all of your kind thoughts about my DS Josh. it was awful getting those bloods done but he was really brave (surprisingly). It has been a shocker of a 24 hours with him but miraculously he got out of bed this morning bright as a button and no sign of a temp at all. Hopefully the antibiotics have sorted everything out. Obviously it was just a virus of some sort and not the influenza A. However, I was impressed by the doctor being so thorough as docs can sometimes dismiss a mother's concerns. As he said - better to be safe and ensure it was nothing serious. So cat, still on for coffee next week!!!

Tabby - Poor poor little Katie. I really hope she is feeling better but with teething I guess you just have to take it one day at a time - or one nap at a time!!!

korah - Well, a day at home with a sick child isn't really a day off is it?? you poor thing - I can imagine work is piling up for you at the office as we speak!!!

Strawberry - I can't believe you are over half way thru your preg - how exciting!

Clothes - Kelsey is mainly in size 1's now too. She has a few 0's but there is such variation in sizes within the different brands. I find some of the tops are a bit on the bigger side but in rompers, shorts and skirts she needs a 1. Must have a big bum like her mummy!!!

mouse - yes, I find everytime I say to DH "gee I have a bit of a cold/headache etc" he always says "me too". Men!!!

Cat - glad you are coping well on your own. Can't wait to hear all about how Cameron is doing next week!

thanks again for all of your kind thoughts yesterday/today when I was going thru the dramas with ds. You ladies are such a lifeline when I need you!

Just a quick one while she naps. ( same again only went to sleep my arms! )
anyhow, only one explosive nappy today so far so thats a good sign, in response to emptying her bowels so often she has upped the milk intake and we have a tin in 5 days! Least shes not lost her appetite.
We also had a total sleep through with not a sound, so hopefully shes on her way to feeling better, teeth or not, who knows?!!!

:fingerscrossed: I get the arvo sleep back today.

Ill try get back this evening for personals as long as she goes down near usual time.

Korah...hope the Daycare lets M back once she's started the drops. Our daycare is good like that.

TJ had a fantastic night. 6-5.30 :smiliedance: :smiliedance: :smiliedance: I got her up at 9.45pm and forced some Paedamen down her (she squeeled but didn't wake) as she was coughing lots. But as always, when one sleeps the other doesn't. DD1 came into bed with me, she had had a coughing fit and was gasping for air. Calmed her down and spent the rest of the night fending off her feet and listening to the monitor for TJ's breathing.

One thing I did manage before bed was a nice hot bath. I cleaned it yesterday and decided before it got full of glitter, face paint and sand again, I'd enjoy a long soak.

Lumpy food....TJ refuses to eat anything with noticable lumps. Little bugger puts on a performance.

Big sleeps,

Hi everyone.. my my things are so busy..

Flicka: poor little boy- hope all turns out ok with tests etc.. :fingerscrossed:

Tabby: Your clingy bubba sounds just like alex the last few nights.. didn't want to go in cot.. yes mouth sore- it is the incisors that are coming up and I think v. sore. But I am pleased to say he slept all night last night without a peep... YAY!!!! I'm so excited and it feels sooo weird to get sleep again.. not that I complaining!!

Cat: Well we have discovered toast. Alex loves it and it has been my saviour as it allows me to have my brekky while he plays with it..he mostly eats it but there is a lot of mess.

Mouse: Alex won't eat sloppy food now- performs if weetbix too runny- spits it everywhere, so he likes lumps... he is a strange child sometimes I think.. he he

My bloody dh is always "soo tired" (i'm sure he is with shiftwoprk etc) but wouldn't have a clue about how tired I am sometimes because I don't drop to the floor in tiredness and demand a sleep. I always get the same response.. "why don't you have a sleep?".. like there's nothing else that needs doing!

Alex: He has been getting lots of gas (holds nose... yuck) which has coincided with ahving lots of protein so I have to ease off and make sure only has it at lunch for a while.. maybe I was getting too carried away!

Clothes: still in size 0- pants still very big and fall off. 0 tshirts fit well except for bond which seem to be huge (even though allother bonds stuff is soo tight).I have made a few pairs of shorts for him as I have been astounded at how expensive a pair of shorts can be for an 8 mth old... saw some for $20 the other day..!

Christmas/ birthday: Anyone with kids have any suggestions as to what Alex would be interested in at Christmas/ birthday? Wouldn't mind lay bying now...

Mouse - hope your girls are feeling better and you have a feet free night - nothing worse than being woken up and your toddler is sleeping sideways in bed with you - ha ha!

wild at heart - I have heaps of ideas for xmas and b'days for a boy (I have a 2.5 year old).

As they will be walking or close to it one of those push along walker things. Also a ride on toy. Fisher price have some nice ones that convert from walker to ride-on. I got kelsey a lion but they have a car too.
Lawnmower (very popular at Ds's 1st b'day)
Baby lego
Tonka trucks - big ones
Telephone
Wooden blocks

I could go on for ages but I always try and buy toys that are slightly advanced so that they get more use out of them. i bet some of the other ladies have some good ideas. Any suggestions for a girl???

Better go - the girl is awake.

alex ... books are always good for a 1 - 2 year old. Toys that do something too should be good - eg. press a button get a sound type things.

tabby ... i hope katie feels 100% soon.

flicka ... hope your josh continues to improve.

mouse ... :yelclap: for sleep!

korah ... I'm glad you're enjoying your time at home, pity it isn't home by choice.

us ... Josh slept from 10pm til 5:30am! :smiliedance: that's the longest sleep overnight he's had in a long time. Ironically, it was after he had 7 hours of sleep during the day yesterday. The saying that sleep begets sleep is all too true! I have been getting sick of rocking him to sleep though, which had become necessary when he was sick a few weeks ago, but had recently become the norm. So, as of last night we started controlled playing. I would say controlled crying, but he doesn't cry, he plays. Yep, I see a sleepy little boy, I put him to bed, put him in his sleeping bag, wrap him up and he decides it's really time to play. Within seconds he'll be out of his wrap and in the corner rocking back and forth on all fours. So, every few minutes I'd go in, resettle him and tell him to go to sleep. It took 40 minutes this morning, but only 20 minutes by this afternoon. BUT, there have only been 2 glitches out of 6 or 7 times now ... last night he was hungry so wouldn't settle - he fell asleep during a feed instead. Then this afternoon he had tummy pain or reflux or something and screamed inconsolably for 10 minutes (in my arms), so I felt compelled to keep him close and rock him to sleep.

Mim: Sounds like your almost there, yay for that lovely sleep and hope you get more.

wild at heart: We are buying Katie a hills swing set, with the baby seat as well.
Hard when so young, main interest is usually the box/wrapping lol.

Mouse: great that TJ slept so well, hopefully you can get both tonight.
Brings back memories of ds2 who was in my bed for about 3 years and with night terrors those kicks can hurt!

Im not even sure now if teething is the problem, the diarrhea is pretty bad, good start to the day but over all 4 bad ones, seems to be right after meals...She seems well otherwise, no crankiness now, clingy still though and no way was she going to bed cot again tonight, she got very very worked up about it as soon as put there, so off in my arms, took about 3 minutes :(
Might go the gp tomorrow if still the same, not that much is ever done other than saying"hmm yes probably a virus" lol.

Hope you all get some lovely zzz's tonight.
I know Im going to sleep well ( provided no wakes) This awake for 5-6 hrs at a time is doing my head in!

Tabby, hope Katie feels better soon. Hope she likes her cot again soon too!

Since M has increased his solids, the nappies have in turn increased in volume too, we had our first exploding poo in ages this morning - sorry TMI but it comes out looking much the same as it did going in! Hope he's getting something out of all this cooking I'm doing. I have started putting small chunks of fresh bread into his veges at lunch and so far he likes the lumps.

Right now all 3 of my boys are blissfully asleep. I get to wait up and bid on an 'exciting' cement mixer for DH - about 10 minutes to go thank goodness.

Target starts 'Wiggles' week tomorrow so I'm dragging the boys to the shops to do some xmas shopping. Also need some summer stuff for me - hard to believe how big we all were this time last year!

Thanks to ebay my DH is now the proud owner of a large cement mixer! Now I can go to bed too! Total bidding frenzy in last 2minutes - who would have thought?

Happy sleeps to all!

Hi all, it's been absolutely ages again!

Sammy my dh would be just over the moon about a cement mixer!!! Hope you got it for a good price!

Things here are going well. 2 teeth, lots of commando crawling and on hands and knees so close to crawling.

We've had our first plane flight to melbourne and back and she was fantastic; no crying at all.

Any advice from people about meat?? I know I need to start giving it to her but just don't really know what to start with. I bought some chicken mince and thought I would cook a little mini casserole style thing with the veges she likes. Any other suggestions?

We're in that awkward stage of trying to get to 3 meals a day but the bottles and sleep aren't quite fitting in. And today she seems to have gone crazy and is still sleeping after 2 1/2 hours?????? Maybe it's the increased movement making her tired??

Hope everyone is well, I haven't read up on all the posts but I'll try to be more vigilant!

Cate, so far I do a massive pot of veges cooked in Stock with Organic Chicken wings and legs thrown in. The liquid I save and cook rice or pasta in it. The rest minus the bones is mashed and served as is or with grated egg yolk, cream cheese or ricotta stirred in. I sometimes add fresh bread crumbs too. The other fave meat dish is good old beef bolognaise with heaps of extra veges cooked in it. This goes great with rice, pasta or mashed potato. Haven't done anything else exciting yet though but have been meaning to do fish & veges with white or cheese sauce!

We got the 2nd hand mixer for less than $300, DH needs it for his next little job - rendering his cousin's house on the quiet days from his current contract work plastering.

:smiliedance: Another ok night's sleep. 11-6.30 and no wake ups from DD1. Hopefully this will continue and in a week or so I'll stop waking through the night to listen.

Meat...I've been a bit slack and have only cooked one 'stew' (beef mince, veges and gravox). Yesterday at daycare she had chicken and tonight I'll try her on some spag bol. On the weekend I'm planning to cook a tuna/asparagus mornay. She loved it without tuna, so will add it and see how she goes.

Bought some lactose free yogurt today, so will try it on the weekend too. :fingerscrossed: her tummy accepts it as I'm running out of ideas for lunch.

Tabby...hope Katie is having as better day today.

Big sleeps everyone,

Yes very quiet today, but Sammy I am here!!!

Mouse- :fingerscrossed: this sleep pattern continues for you, it has been a tough one, normality must be a distant memory.

Flicka- Girlie pressie ideas- got to get Kelsey a baby doll- always a hit!!

Tabby- Hope Katie is ok, does not sound too great at all.

Us- we have cut two more teeth here. So that now makes four!! The weird thing is that she has cut her eye teeth before her upper middle teeth- that is crazy no??? The teething rusk box says they come after the middle teeth, how weird will that look?
I bought a stroller today from target- 20% off nursery items. The pram is too big and bulky and I am going away with mum in the school holidays and the pram wont fit in her boot so I got the stroller. It is bright red was only $56 on sale- it will do for convenience. Yes we finally have Target:smiliedance: . I use to be so envious of you guys talking about your target specials and shopping expeditions... finally the council decided we needed one. It opened a couple of weeks ago!!

Anyway, better go, check in again soon.

Thanks everyone! Things are much on the up here finally. Only one poo today and she seems very much her normal self, even went cot for morning nap (2hrs!) and now down for the arvo one with no complaints so far, still awake but happily playing so :fingerscrossed:.

cate: Katie has a cheesy chicken bake ( pasta/chicken/zuchinni/cheese sauce) you could use it for something like that.
Katie had her first steak dish last night, a casserole I made and when cooled I just chopped it up a bit with the hand whizz, she loved it! Had to make it separate though to ours as I add chilli.

liviesmum: YAY for the two more teeth. lol Not unusual to be cut a bit all over the place, am sure the others wont be far behind and wont look that bad.

Mouse: wonderful news!!!!! Do hope thats the start of many more nights like that for you.

Sammy: Glad you managed to nab that cement mixer for DH. Nice bargain by the sounds of it.

Well other than said above, things seem to be going back to normal, tonight will tell, hopefully she goes down well in the cot at closer to her normal time with no upsets, if the day is any thing to go by I think we should be ok.

Perth meet: Was there anything definite in place? Just making sure in case missed it.
If not
Im more than happy to host Cordelia if your still not up to it, place is small but its not like there is a lot of us anyhow, am sure we can fit in somewhere lol.

Better go, school work to catch up on for ds2 while shes asleep ( hopefully lol )

Has been a bit quieter than usual here hasn't it. Must be these 8month old bubs keeping us busy!

Glad Katie's getting back to her old self Tabby.

C had abit of a grumpy afternoon, the whinging was driving me insane and couldn't work out what he wanted. Well I could but he wanted everything that he couldn't have which was part of the problem. Very exhausting trying to keep him amused and no DH to walk in the door at 5pm to relieve me. You single mamas who do this all the time are amazing!

With meat I've just been doing pretty basic stew/soupy type stuff. A bit of any type of meat and a few diff veg and then blend it all up. Main thing is to keep enough liquid as can tend to be dry otherwise and not too appetising. Also did baby versions of shepherds pie & chicken stir fry when we had them the other week. Basically just took his out before I added the herbs/spices/stock etc, anything I wasn't sure a bub should be having yet.

Just wondering if anyone else's bub obsessed with the label on their soft toys more than the toys themselves (and am I supposed to cut them off??). He'll suck on the labels for ages!

mim1
13-09-2007, 07:22 PM
cat ... josh doesn't need toys, just labels ... oh, and shoes. He'll suck on a label for AGES! He also loves the ribbon tail on one of his cow teddy things.

cate ... i'm having lots of trouble sorting out milk and 3 meals a day and fitting it all in. Add in going out and it's a disaster! Today, I was out from 9am til 12noon and as a result Josh didn't get any solids til 5:30pm! But I gave him a double portion of his usual and he ate it all! I waited 2 hours for milk and he nearly had a full feed. Then he had a bath and finished off the rest of the milk before falling asleep.

YEP! Josh is asleep and it's not even 8:30pm! :smiliedance:

I saved some meat from dinner tonight to cut up or puree tomorrow for Josh. I'm going away for 2 weeks soon and I won't have access to a kitchen (my meals are provided). So, I'm wondering what I'm going to do. I tried the canned vegies & meat yesterday and Josh screamed a few times in the afternoon. Besides, it looks gross!

Josh had his 8 month checkup today. All is well - yeah! He now weighs 9.5kg and is 71.5cm long. Didn't look to see what his head circumference was - it's written in his book. The CHN said I need to increase his protein and calorie intake by giving him cereal. She also said he needs chunkier food. Why for either? I explained that I've tried various cereals and they all produce screaming fits for 12 - 24 hours, she said to try again. I explained that he gagged badly on chunky food and she said that he needs it and otherwise he'll get fussy! Fussy??!! He wasn't playing at not being able to swallow, he really wasn't able to swallow. grrr! sorry for my vent, I feel better now :)

Cordelia
13-09-2007, 08:31 PM
Tell me about fitting all these meals in - so confused.
I do what they say and do solids when she first wakes up and then milk when she goes down. It doens't help that she doesn't want her solids at all so then she wants her milk earlier. Her milk intake has gone up - today she had 540ml so tha'ts a relief. Also, only woke twice last night. (I think because I may have given her a slight accidental panadol overdose). The past week has been awake on the hour. :(

Our house is a complete mess - DH with conjucitivitis and tonsilitis like I had the other week and now just as we're over this viral infection, it looks like Caitlin could have hand, foot and mouth infection. When will this winter be over!!!

Anyway, Tabby - it would be great if you could go ahead and organise the meet because I think we'll still be out of action for a while. Sorry everyone :(

Cordelia: So sorry to hear of more sickness there.
Hope your all feeling better soon, its got to end soon hun!! xxx
and don't apologize for not being able have it at your place!!! Perfectly understandable :hugs:
Katie prefers milk as soon as she wakes too so changed to that first then solids about a hr after and then her milk before going down about 2 hrs after that.

mim:Try the pasta dishes that you can get rather than the meat and veg ones, still not that great but in comparison to the meat n veg one they do smell tastier lol OR can you take fridge ones like baby boost and store them there?

Cat: I agree on the exhausting to entertain! With Katie awake so much Im literally drained!!!

Speaking of that...the arvo sleep, didnt happen:banghead: So she was awake from 12.15 to now which is 830!!!!! How the hell???
She goes down fine for the morning nap but pfft forget the arvo one. So tomorrow I try something new, postpone the morning one to after a early lunch so becomes a midday nap.
Surely she wouldnt be cutting down to one allready??? Anyhow thought it might be worth a go
OH and guess what???? Shes gone down in the cot just now!! :smiliedance:
I "almost" have my angel baby back.

No poopie this morning either so probably safe to say thats cleared as well. maybe it was a tummy bug and not teeth as they seem to have clamed down a bit. Just when you think youve got your bub worked out! Arnt they a confusing lot.
Anyhow alls well now, thanks to everyone with the hugs etc :hugs:

better run, have to go tax office get ds2 a tax number. Home schooled so cant get through school and becomes my job to get him one.

Tabby - Home Schooling WOW!!! That sounds like a hard gig! Glad Katie seems to be on the mend.

I had to stay up to let my Mum in at around 11:30pm last night, then was up with DS1 coughing at 2am, M up coughing and full of mucus at 4am. Then up at 6:30am! Am not feeling crash hot as a result and I'm having a girly dinner out tonight which is very rare! We drove my Mum to the airport this morning - DS1 fell asleep on the way there (a sure sign he is unwell) M fell asleep for 15mins on the way home and now wants to skip the rest of his usual 2 hr nap. DS1 is asleep again - poor little mite!

:smiliedance: Another good night in our house last night. TJ woke at 9.30 for a quick feed, then slept til 4.45 and DD1 slept through. I remember getting up around 3 to check on them, but other than that I think I slept through too. Whooohooo!

Cat...TJ will spend ages sucking on labels or the tails of various toys.
Mim...TJ has a hissy fit at lumpy food at the moment. Last night she managed spag bol with pasta lumps throughout. My new theory is to keep giving her pasta until she gets used to more lumps in her food.
Cordelia...hope everyone starts to feelk better soon. Poor C if she's had hand, foot and mouth. I think I had this when DD1 was little and it was horrid.
Tabby...Mondays and Tuesdays are best for me. Good to hear K is feeling a bit better.

Hope everyone has a good weekend. A wet one due here in Perth.

haha yep Sammy, It wasn't really by choice to home school but short version:ds2 was bullied to the extent of needing therapy and my weekly visits to the school to "solve" issues did jack! I had a 13 yr old boy who was a mess emotionally because of it. Took me 12 months to get him back to how he was. Bloody hard work but the best thing I ever did. Hes a lovely young man of 16 now and off out to the work force soon as he can find something.
Hope you get a better night sleep tonight, oh and have LOTS of fun out!!!!

Mouse: Thats wonderful!!! Youll feel like a new woman now I bet?

Well the deciding on one nap a day seems to have worked, She went down with no fuss after lunch at 12 and still sound asleep. so should make the afternoon much more pleasurable lol.
Rather young for one nap but maybe once shes crawling she will need two again.

Tabby, What a fantastic Mum you are. I am sure your DS2 is a great credit to you!

Bullying is such an issue these days. Would you believe a friend's 5yr old in Kindy is being bullied - has come home with bruises and even one black eye! Detention for Kindy has been introduced at his school for the 1st time ever. The bully's parents just say he doesn't understand the difference between 'play fighting' and the real thing! Apparently he and his Dad 'play fight' quite a bit. I was quite disturbed hearing about it, my DS1 is such a gentle soul most of the time and removes himself from the scene when trouble is brewing. There will be no 'playfighting' in this house!

Tabby
14-09-2007, 02:08 PM
Wow thats just shocked me! detention in kindy!!!! Play fight or not thats a lame excuse imo. the child should know the rights and wrongs of invading others space :( (yes..very sensitive subject for me )
Yep Most of the parents of the bullies when spoken too have that " ah well" approach. Very sad indeed.
The last parent got a shock though as we pressed charges, (little did they know I had full intentions of dropping them) but it worked as that same bully apologized and was never a bother again. That was the last draw though as mental abuse had become physical.

Your ds sounds like my ds1. Still even now at 25yrs old will avoid anything even remotely confrontational. Hes what I call my gentle giant (over 6ft and bulky) with the heart of gold, gives you an idea?. He had a wonderful time high school and was liked by all. The way they handle things is certainly a good thing. ds2 has never handled things well

ah 1 hr 20mins down ...bliss!

Still in shock with that kindy detention!

Detention at Kindy!!!! That's insane...what is the world coming to! My sil daughter came home from daycare with a blackeye from another kid and it had happened on a regular basis so the kid was asked to leave the daycare centre.

As a teacher who is entirely intolerant of bullying, I think it is dreadful that it is so common. A tactic i have found to work wonders is to ask the parents of bully to shadow their students for the day....fantastic results! They have to sit with them at lunch, in class, on assembly etc..etc.. etc... either the parents see what their child is really like and who they hang out with....or the kid is so embarassed they would never dare bully another child again! Of course you have to have supportive and involved parents for this to work - which can be a challenge sometimes!

Audrey has been bizarre the last 2 days. Bottle and breakfast at 7am, sleep at 8:30/9, lunch at 11am, sleep for 2+ hours, bottle at 1pm, sleep 3pm, bottle at 5, dinner at 6, a little snack bottle before bed at 7/8???? Weird...I think we've cracked the 3meals a day but she's sleeping heaps more!!! Maybe because she is so wriggly and nearly crawling.

It is just baby central in my group of friends at the mo....one friend had girl Amelie May on Monday, another friend boy Oscar Thomas on Tuesday, my brother and his wife have announced they are expecting, another close friend due next year on Audrey's birthday.

Hope everyone is getting so sleep! We've been so lucky with Audrey still sleeping as well as ever. So many girls in our mother's group are having troubles with waking babies after having really good sleepers.

Yikes Tabby, one nap a day! But must admit we do struggle with the arvo one here too. And thanks for the link to the 'tag' products. Just have to decde which to choose, will keep C amused and quiet for hours!

Cate, I think that's a great approach to tackle bullying. Much better than ignoring the problem like seems to happen all too frequently.

Sammy, hope you get cough free night tonight. Hope your household is feeling healthier soon too Cordelia. :hugs:

Mouse, :smiliedance: for ANOTHER good night! C does the odd sleep through but my boobs won't let me unless he strings a couple of nights in a row.

Mim, you know Josh better than the CHN so I'd just nod and smile and do what you want. Milk's still the main thing anyway. With getting out and about and fitting in all the meals/milk, what works for us is actually planning to be out at lunchtime. I take his lunch (and water & bib & facecloth) with me, sometimes still frozen and hope it defrosts by the time we need it. For some reason he eats really well when we are out and means I can relax and don't have to worry about rushing home.

Another little thing I keep meaning to ask the BF mums, when bub is very excited for a feed do they start trying to latch on anywhere they can (depending on his position my ribs, arm, neck, shoulder, cheek & tummy), all while making 'homhomhomhom' grunty noise. I'm sure C knows by now that milk only comes from one place but just can't wait until I manage to lift my top up!

Decided tonight to ditch the dummy, since shes been fussing at bed time she throws it out anyhow and ends up asleep without it so thought well if you can do it now then no need to keep it up.
have just popped her to bed and other than a bit of fuss, SHES ASLEEP!!!
I didnt think it would take much as shes never really been keen on it and only ever used to go to sleep and even then quite often spat it out.
She ended up sleeping 2 hrs nap so that was good, will try again tomorrow as it did work well, she was a much happier baby this arvo  and still in bed early.

LOL Cat, Had to giggle at the visual of his homhomhom and trying to latch on anywhere, arnt they just so funny at times!

cate: Glad alls well there and you've not been affected by the changing baby syndrome lol

I like your strategy re: bullies, unfortunately as is the case I found most of the parents didn't give a hoot! If anything it was a "thats my boy" attitude when responding, or no response at all, so something like that wouldn't even be considered by them. Would have to generalize though and say that was just his high school, really bad name now. Was fine when ds1 was there :(.

Better go tuck the lady in

Oh Tabby, very sweet idea! And so wonderful about the beautiful smiley Katie! Hunter is just so giggly these days. And love the way he grabs around my shoulders/neck, in a lovingly tackle, a 'you're my Mother/you're my climbing frame' like way. I think it was Flicka months and months ago saying wait till they hug you back :)

Oh yes  been MIA! But did catch up with quite a few posts..and can just say YES LABELS to Cat13, just the same, H will turn a new stuffed thing around till he finds the label. Esp likes the LONG Ikea ones! Hmm also monitoring them for tearing/shredding/choking.

MouseB some lovely sleeps back on board for you is just just great!! Here also H has been just waking once around 4.30. Except last night when I found him sidewards at the bottom of his cot..and he's not a Hamish/Clea/etcetc yet!

Been a heckofaweek. H and I and his Dad went for a weekend holiday/training for a sport event..Managed to ocean paddle in the roughest/windiest conditions I ever have and was, by virtue of sorting out leaving Hunter with his Dad, a bit behind a group of other paddlers to start a 2hr paddle. Managed to save from any capsizes a few times as the off-shore wind was getting extreme and then after an hour and half of paddling alone toppled in! Normally you just grab your paddle and your boat and get back in...but wind SO strong that as soon as I came up I couldn't reach the boat, tried swimming harder and harder (holding paddle in one hand!), awful realisation and vision seeing the lifeline blowing out to sea! And being in very rough sea a few hundred meters off the coast..oh and alone. Thankfully H+his Dad knew where I was..but did think he might just hand him to someone so he could go running with same group..thinking I was just taking my time! YIKES anyhow after some minutes treading water with paddle vertical in air to attract attention I saw a paddler tiny in the distance. THANKFULLY THANKFULLY he saw me and managed after a couple of other manouvers to tow my boat back to me! WOW. So ~10mins of treading water and not too cold..as was so elated at being found!! But it was still a torturous journey to Bunker Bay. I was rather shell shocked and water logged but had to feed H straight away and hardly had a minute to think about it at the time, but have been a bit traumatised since.

Oh and then had to catch up on all the work I schivved being traumatised! So A LOT of work last two days.

So nice being home! Oh and of course reading lovely posts from lovely ladies!! I esp liked the cement mixer post of SammyGs! :) Was very inspired. I hope the mixer was 'pick up only' :)
And Cat13 I love the homhomhomhomhom. Oh has anyone tried making 'red indian' noises with hand in front of mouth..H thinks completely hilarious. Also favorite toy is train/cat/snoopy on a long ribbon/string and he pulls them swapping hand to hand. The train on slight slope is the best for keeping him entertained. Still seconds from crawling..but wasting a lot of energy commando rolling.
Cate so special about all the bubs around you all, be so very lovely seeing them all grow up together.
SammyG hope the girly dinner went really well and your lovely boys are getting better already!

Well dry land, beautiful bub is asleep and a night off work. HAPPINESS!!

Sorry Tabby, did not manage to get on yesterday to respond to your qu. The stroller does have a hood, it is one of those baby club prams. It was originally $77 but $55 in the sale. Have not had a go of it yet, except around target, but it felt ok.

Bullying- It is a big ordeal, being a school teacher I see it so often and I dont take kindly to bullies as I was bullied quite badly when I was in year 8.

Cat13- The booby banging- Bridget does that when she is really tired, I think because I did settle her on the boob. I have not been bf for about 3 weeks now and I have noticed her doing it more. Makes me feel sad sometimes that i stopped.

Gotta go and get bridget some clothes DH is yelling out from the bathroom will get on soon and finish up post!!

Hi... I'm back.

Tabby- Whats cute about our babies right now? I love it how Bridget now helps put her nappy on... She holds the top of it up while I do the tabs- It is so cute. And I must admit being greeted by a smile every morning and the words Mumma just melt your heart!!

Charis- what an ordeal!! An amazing tale off survival!!

All has settled down here with the arrival of those teeth that have reeked havoc over the past 2 weeks. Two weeks til hoildays:smiliedance: !! Feel like I need it. But have the huge job over the next two weeks of cleaning my house BIG TIME as we are renting it out over the race week to the Supercheap Auto Group (Car race Week- Mt Panorama) It is really good money but a big job to get get the house super clean!!
Weekend is looking nice- bright and sunny outside atm. Might do something nice in this weather today!!

Charis!! What a story!! I hope you can get plenty of relaxation time and space to get over it. I would be terrified - you were incredibly brave. (Sounds like you're the adventurous type anyway..!)

livies mum - that sounds like hard work - I dont think I could let people in my house!! Do they pay a lot to stay ??? Must do!! Eeexcellent :)

dummy - forgot to tell you amongst all our sicknesses that somewhere along the line Caitlin has decided that she doesn't want the dummy anymore! I realised that we were trying to force it on her. We went to the doctors yesterday [again] and her supposed hand foot and mouth is actually pharyngitis (?!?) so no wonder she hasn't wanted solids and probably why she's ditched her dummy. Poor little thing.

Speaking of which - i hear her awake :) Bye.

Tabby
15-09-2007, 02:05 PM
Cordelia: Good to hear not hand/foot/mouth thingo! Have never heard of pharyngitis. but sounds like a better diagnosis to have? Hope shes feeling better soon xx

We also have ditched the dummy, started last night as her mouth was so sore with the teeth she wouldn't even take it so took advantage of it and last night went without any complaints. Trying again now for the nap and if she goes off okay will not even contemplate giving it back

Had a couple of unhappy wakes last night, 10ish and 1am, the 10 one required me to cuddle until nurofen working then back to bed.
Wish they would hurry the hell up and cut already.

liviesmum: How cute the holding nappy! Katie has started to push her arms through clothes which is a great help to dress/undress.
What a job! Hope the house clean goes smoothly for you, just think of those lovely $ at the end to get you through :D

Just back from shopping, which was good becasue kept K occupied till a sleep after lunch, shes doing fine with it so guess thats how it is, only one day nap now. BUT they are 2 hrs so thats good, decent time to relax or get things done.

Hope everyones having a good w.e
Charis : thinking of you and hope your feeling better after evrything xx

Sleep/ teething::hair: Well after sorting the sleep out, Alexander is still teething and I am well and truly over it. If this had happened a few months ago I would have just fed him when he woke and all would be hunky dory, but since I had stopped all feeds overnight I am trying so hard not to feed overnight, but I am being hit with strong opposition from "Hurricane Alexander", who screeams his heart out as soon as he sees daddy come into his room at night to try to re-settle. Last night I ended up fedding him, but he really had a protest and I was sure he woke up the neighbourhood dogs....!!!

How many milk feeds?: Hey just a thought, how many milk feeds are all the bubs having? Alex has one first thing; a top up after breakfast, 3pm then 6pm (and then sometimes one at night). When do they cut down to 3 per day with meals? In my "Babylove" book it suggests that you can cut down by nine months but have to substitute snacks for milk (but having said that maybe they have larger milk feeds less often?? eg 3 x day).

Work (aaarghhhhh): I am going back to work (in a few weeks   ) on a tues/ fri and one day from home and am trying to make sure I have enough milk etc. Dh will be looking after bubby which will be good for him as he will really have to get into the swing of the routines etc!!

Boob pat: yep, alex does it, and now does it when tired as well. Tries to do to dh when sooking at night time!!

Nappy holding: alex has managerd to un-do his on the change table twice now.. (gee I am painting a picture of a naughty baby.. well he hasn't caused any injuries to any other babies yet.. no baby detention for him..he he)

lunch on the go: Cat, I can do the same but the breastfeed is the pain, as sometimes the contrary Alexander doesn't feel full after the lunch and I have to run off to the parents room to stop his crying for food (and bf him)- he is a guts.. (where does he put it, only on 25%ile). Do you breastfeed Cameron first?

:hugs: for all sick/ tired/ traumatised (charis)/pregnant mums and bubs

wildatheart, with our outings I usually leave home right after a BF and then give him his lunch around midday, which could be anywhere between an hour to 2 hours after his milk depending when he woke up. After his lunch he gets his sippy cup of water which keeps him happy for a while. Luckily he loves being out so any whinging doesn't usually start until the car ride home!

charis, you sound like you have enough adventures & excitement for all of us. That said, DH is planning on taking C and I along on a 4WD camping trip up to the top of Cape York next year so that could have some hairy moments.

C is a nightmare on the changetable lately, constantly trying (& succeeding) to roll over. And despite his protests, he has also started helping dress himself by pushing hands up through armholes.

As for the best thing about this age, I just love how much of a little person he is. Such pure emotions (whether it be joy or rage) and so the little smiles & touches have so much more meaning. Was watching a sad doco this arvo on ABC about a women's loss of a child when he was 8 months old (amongst other tragedies) and was crying and hugging my little man so tight. Just appreciate sooooo much how lucky we are and cannot fathom a life without him.

wild at heart: katie is still having quite a few bottles even though on 3 meals a day and snacks.
200mils on wake
200 mid morning
200 after lunch
200 afternoon
and 200 before bed.
She does leave about 50mils quite often though.
9 months to cut back?..no idea, I always just go with Katies lead.

Cat: How sad, I would have been hugging and crying too. yep makes us realize just how precious they are.

I caved on the dummy just now for bed time, she was getting quite upset, I really dont have the will power to listen to that, meh no biggie, the boys gave theirs up at about 13 months and thats ok by me.
Shes back to her normal self thats for sure. no more runny poos but teeth still tender.

She has started to copy laugh the last few days, its so forced and ever so funny and the more we laugh the more she does it.

Hi girls
I figured it was time I checked in, I have no idea where the time goes anymore!
Firstly, I see a few BFP's in the siggies so congrats to those who are expecting again and I hope the :barf: isn't too bad (Nice to be able to use that smiley again, it used to be our best friend at one stage lol)

I'm loving all the gorgeous avatar photos too.

All is good here. Reece still sleeps through and we ditched the dummy months ago, he sucks on 2 fingers when tired. That's something that I used to do as a child aswell.
He's getting more interested in food, but it's still only mushy stuff and he's a bit picky. We have our 8 mth appt next week with the MCN. Then we are off on holidays the following weekend to Noosa for a week. We went there the same time last year and I was about 24 weeks PG.

I have good news about TTC'ing... we start again in about 6 weeks. I am just waiting for AF to come after just stopping the pill and I will then go a full cycle before the first AI. We can have 6 inseminations again using the same donor, so we are very happy about that. I'm not too keen on being PG again but can't wait to have another bub and then our family will be complete.

Tabby - How is the TTC going, any exciting news yet?

No crawling here yet altough he shuffles backwards which is quite funny towatch. He still sits in the bumbo seat too, it ended up being a very good investment.

I hope everyone's bubs are well and I'll catch up again soon.

Im currently in a tww so :fingerscrossed:.

How exciting, 6 weeks isnt far!!! Cant wait to follow your ttc journey and hope we both can obtain that :bfp::hugs:
hopefully in the same due thread again!

If we dont hear from you again before, have a lovely time away, it sounds glorious!

hels ... great to hear from you. Enjoy your holiday and all the best fo 6 weeks time!

change table antics ... josh loves the feeling/sound of his fingers on the front of his nappy, so he scratches it over and over on the change table and can undo the velcro like tabs if he has an opportunity. He also loves to turn over onto his tummy and try and crawl away from me. Thankfully, he just gets up on all fours and rocks, rather than actually crawls, but it is quite a challenge when I'm half way through putting pants on him, or doing up presstuds!

Speaking of crawling, we were out last night and Josh crawled! At least, I think he did. It was only a couple of 'steps' of real crawling, but I'm pretty sure he was up on his hands and knees at the time. Of course, I then watched him more closely and he didn't do it again and this morning he's back to rocking in the same spot and getting nowhere.

Better go ... he's gone back to sleep and I'm going to follow his lead and get a bit more sleep myself.

Hi ladies

liviesmum - Kelsey cut her teeth in the same order as Bridget. She sis look a bit goofy (on a cute way) for a couple of weeks but she has her lovely front teeth now.

Toy labels - yes, kelsey prefers the labels to the toy. She also loves a plastic hammer of DS's and she just bangs it on everything.

Mim - re baby food when away. I used the only organics brand when we were on holidays. They even have some little tubs that go staright into the microwave and Kelsey loves them - pea and parsnip I think.

I've gotta go - DS calling.

Cat13
16-09-2007, 09:38 AM
Hi Flicka, Cameron loves the pea & parsnip Only Organics too. I had a taste of it and my face was  . See you Tues!

Flicka
16-09-2007, 10:51 AM
I just re-read my last post and was shocked by my spelling mistakes/typo's!! Oh well, that's what happens when you are in a hurry!

Cat - yes, see you Tues. Looking forward to it!

Kelsey wriggles around on the change table too. Just have to be organised and make sure I have everything handy b4 I undress her.

Hmmm - best thing about this age??? I'm not sure really. I guess I just love the personality that she is developing. Kelsey seems like such a sweet little kid. And ditto on the gorgeous smiles that make my day. Oh, and that giggle of hers is adorable.

Still no crawling here and don't expect it for a while. She shuffles around but seems to go backwards rather than forwards.

Hels - Great to hear from you again. Good luck with TTC #2.

Tabby - Fingers crossed here for your tww.

Wild at heart - I mainly b/f before sleeps. Kelsey has a feed when she wakes up, before morning nap, after lunch (b4 arvo nap), sometimes a 'snack' in the arvo, before arvo power nap and bedtime. She still wakes 1-2 times per night so I usually fit in anywhere from 6-8 b/feeds. I guess you really just have to be guided by your baby. I am also giving water (just a little) after meals/snacks to wash everything down. Hope this helps.

Take care xxx

Hey everyone,

Hels - Hope you have a great time away. I would love to get away for a while. Also best of luck with the TTC.

Us - Sierra is 8 months today. Still no teeth & no crawling yet really. She moves around everywhere & manages to make her way from one room to another but no 'proper' crawling. She is eating heaps. Cracked it today when we went out grocery shopping cos she could see the baby food on the shelf while i was looking at wipes & nappies, its funny that she knows what it is already & she can recognise the teething rusks box & cracks it cos shes hungry & wants one  I had to buy a couple of tins of food so i could feed her straight after i finished the shopping. Good thing i had a plastic spoon in her nappy bag. Shes started talking alot too in the last few weeks. Says Dada clearly now & its very cute. Sits on the floor bouncing up & down saying Dad dad, very funny. Will have to video tape it next time she does it.
Not much else happening really. Havent caught up on the rest of the posts from the last few days yet, so better do that.

Wow it has been ages since i posted on here. I do keep reading i just never get the time to post.

Well life in our house will never be the same again.
Matthew is crawling:eek: and boy is he making good use of it. He is into everything. I am so not ready for this stage. I just caught him climbing on top of one of those underbed storage boxes. So not only has he learnt to crawl he knows how to climb aswell.

Matthew now has four teeth, two top and two bottom. And boy are they sharp. Does anyone have trouble with bubs biting. He will bite us at any chance he has. Little:devil6:

Matthew also loves to roll over on the change table. So we are always quick. Sometimes i feel like i have to lay on top of him just to get his nappy on.

We are up to 3 solid meals a day. And our routine generally goes like this

Wake - Bf
7-8am - bfast
930ish - BF or small bottle and bed

if he only has a short nap he will have some fruit gel, yoghurt, custard. And then a bottle before his next sleep. Or if he has had a big morning nap he will have 240mls of milk and then his food later.

5-6pm veggies

7- 8pm BF and bed

between 11pm and 1am usually he has another 240mls of milk. Then usually nothing till 5 or 6 in the morning.

Sometimes he might have a snack BF or small bottle in the arvo.

Now i have typed this all out he will probably change.

Well i better go before this child of mine destroys the house. It has already taken me 1/2hr to type this as i had to keep chasing him. Hopefully he will sleep well tonight now.

tiredmummy, I would say getting from one room to another is on par with crawling as a milestone. In fact as littlies my sister and I both never actually crawled at all. We were bum shufflers! Cameron seems to be saying 'dada' all teh time too and I even heard a 'daddy'. Sound of the week or is he missing DH?!

Hope u managed to catch Matthew lukeandmattsmum! So glad C still more or less stays put wherever I leave him.

 everyone

Hasn't the weekend gone fast. We had bit of a lazy day yesterday, just went and looked at some houses for sale. We really want to build a house but dont seem to have any luck getting the land we want.
Today Macy had her swimming lesson, we did the grocery shopping and then I had a 3 hour drive all up to pick DS up from his dads. And of course being the supermum we all are I managed to do the dishes, change the sheets on our bed, vacuum and do 2 loads of washing in between. Phewwww

Charis - good to hear you survived your little ordeal!!

Tabby - good luck with the TWW, i'll be :fingerscrossed: for you

My favourite thing about Macy atm - watching her work out how to do things and the way she uses her index finger to point at things or pick things up, its so tiny and perfect. It was gorgeous watching her trying to pick up some spaghetti tonight for dinner and eat it.

Change time isnt too bad at the moment. I give M a toy to keep her occupied and hopefully not roll over. I remember with DS he was sutch a ratbag I ended up changing him on the floor so I could throw one leg over him to hold him down and get the nappy on as quick as possible.

Sorry, Im rambling on again. Better go to bed and get some

Have a good week everyone!!

Tabby

lol korah @ the pinning ds down. We almost got to that stage as toys didnt work but giving her a disposable to hold ( and look at, winnie the pooh) is working at the moment lol.
Until then I would hold an arm over her legs while doing up nappy. The change table is quite high too and kicks to the boobs HURT!

Katie doesnt want her bottle this morning :(
Tried breaky instead but really had to coax the few spoonfuls in, tired bottle again but nope.
Maybe those teeth are cutting :fingerscrossed:

better go, shes happily playing with the coles catalogs, so far not chewed lol
back later!

Hi there, Hope the weekend was good to you all, we had lovely springtime weather here and today would be lucky to be above 10 degrees atm- funny how quick it all changes.

Cordelia- the renting out of the house is worth it in the end. We have a group staying for 5 nights at $500 per night, so it aint too bad really- a nice bonus just before the onslaught of Christmas. DD1 had pharyngitis a few years back, the poor little thing was about 18 months and I could not hear her if she woke in the night as she had completely lost her voice- It was a quiet house for about 3 days!!

Wild at heart- The milk feeds seem to be low here atm. Not sure what Bridget should be having. She has:
120ml after breaky
220ml after lunch
220ml mid afternoon
sometimes 100ml after dinner before bed
Not sure if thats enough or normal??

Tired Mummy- Bridget does the same in the supermarket when she sees the jars of baby food LOL!! She knows what they are, it must trigger them to salivate and get hungry- a bit like Pavlov and his dogs!!

Tabby- Hope Katie gets her teeth soon!! By the way what is TWW? A bit lost there?

A busy day yesterday, went to Sydney and spent $4000 in three hours!!! They were big items at Harvey Norman- I got a lowline Tv unit and matching buffet as well as a Coffee Machine!! I feel a bit naughty!

Bridget is going well since those bloody teeth came through! It was a painful ordeal for about 2 weeks. She is so cute now she is moving about and chatting more. She is really interacting well with DD1 it is just so lovely. She loves it when we pick her up from school. DD1 gets in the car and Bridgets face lights up and she begins laughing. It is priceless!!:ecomcity:

Anyways better scoot, talk later:wave:

Liviesmum: TWW = Two Week Wait, the time between ovulating and getting or when Trying to conceive NOT getting AF.
Ive forgotten what day af started so not sure where I am! I think it was about the 25th. so about a week through the tww.

Oh the shopping trip sounds fun! Im in need of a new coffee machine, the one DP got me 2 yrs ago broke :(
The units sound lovely too

Hows the morning sickness?

Glad Bridget is feeling much better now the toothies are through! haha yep Katie gets quite excited in the car now too and when ds1 or 2 jump in she lights up, hands and feet go nuts and giggles her head off, Yep so cute!

930am and she still doesnt want her bottle!

hey ladies

Korah - I can relate to having to sit on a child to change their nappy - we used to so the same to DS.

liviesmum - Yay for the shopping

tiredmummy - love your new avatar - very cute

Tabby - hope Katie is feeling better this arvo. lucky she has such a great mummy to look after her!

Us - We went to clinic today to get kelsey weighed etc. She is about 10.1kg - over the 97th percentile in height and weight. However, I mentioned in passing that I had some very minor concerns about her showing no real effort to crawl. CHN agreed that she is a very floppy sort of girl (very relaxed and loose even when in our arms). Even when she is sitting she is a bit lazy. She gets up on knees sometimes but then just seems like she can't be bothered trying. CHN says she thinks she lacks muscle tone so we are off to the pead to get some physio tips. Found some on the net too so will start with her today. Just to prove me wrong she started pulling herself around on the carpet when we got home!!! I can't help comparing but DS was racing around at her age and even pulling himself up on furniture.

Anyway, enough of me....

Hi-ya girlies,

Tabby...Oct 2nd is good for us. DH flies out that morning so I'll be ready for some girlie talk.
Charis...:hugs: good to hear you got through your experience safely. Hope you've recovered fully. TJ loves the Red Indian call. She'll even do it against my cheek, with lots of slobber involved.
Cordelia...:hugs: for poor C.

The nicest thing...about TJ at the moment is that she is developing her personality. The last couple of days she's started having paddies when something doesn't go her way.

Sleeps are still a bit hit and miss, but generally are getting better. She woke twice the other night when she didn't eat much of her dinner. So last night after she declared she'd have enough of the spag bol, I topped her up with weetbix. She woke at 1.30 then 6.

Am starting to think about our trip east and how I might entertain TJ on the plane. Any ideas or suggestions are welcome - please! DH was given an MP3 player by work a while ago, and today I thought I'd finally get around to looking at it, bloody driver/help/instructions CD is written in Chinese :hair: .

Hope you are all having a nice day. :babydust2: Big sleeps for the bubs,
Lisa

Hope alls well when you do get K looked at, am sure it will be xxx

and you liviesmum with Arnie, preferably a few years ago before he sagged those muscles? lol.

Mouse: Glad the sleeps are relatively okay of late.

I cant believe it, we got a morning nap and just now I thought Ide try the arvo as well! Yep shes out.
Hopefully will stay this way as is so hard to keep her going till the afternoon. Might have just been a upset tummy last week.
Her teeth are still sore and really off her bottle today, preferring solids and biscuits. Only had 2 bottles so far today (200mils) + (100mils)
Shes also found her tounge again, very cheeky look this time with it poking out just a tiny bit and side to side with a cheeky grin lol
Might try a pic later if she keeps doing it.

I finally feel well enough to actually post - not just catch up!

Tabby - M averages 350mls a day over 3 bottles, he is not keen at all but loves his solids so I make sure he gets lots of dairy and water in his food. M is teething also, 2nd bottum tooth has just broken through today. Thanks for the much needed giggle - I am having a whopping 14lb12oz girl and the 'mailman' did it!

Poor little mite, teething, a rattly cough with wheezing (he is on ventolin) and a double dose of conjunctivitis just as a bonus.

I finally caught the bug all the boys have had and would probably cope better if I wasn't up to M for at least an hour in the middle of each night to re-medicate and offer bottle. He is happy enough once I give him a cuddle but then he's wide awake, wanting to play once the nurofen kicks in!

Dinner out with the girls was lovely, celebrating a 50th, 27th, impending birth (EDD 27th Sep) and an announcement of a new PG. I was celebrating getting out!!!! Halfway through dinner the sore throat hit and I lost my voice - have been struggling ever since but have still managed 2 birthday parties with DS1's MG mates.

Charis- Scary story!!!

Flicka, DS1 was crawling and cruising furniture by 7.5months. M doesn't even like standing and bearing his own weight and has just mastered rolling at 7.5months. I wouldn't worry too much about Kelsey!

Glad you're feeling a bit better Sammy. I think my DH has the same bug so glad he is away and can't share it with us!

Quick visit to the baby clinic today, Cameron is still a lightweight at 7.6kg at 8months but 71.5cm long. The nurse had a look in his mouth and announced that bottom teeth would be through in a week or so but I'll have to take her word for it because I can't see a thing! Time will tell. Still no crawling but at least he is sitting now which he hadn't quite mastered at last month's checkup.

Just a quickie, really need to spend more time working once C is a sleep and less time bubhubbing. :p The latter is more enjoyable but the pay is much better for the former!

Thanks Sammy: yep i upped her dairy today to compensate .
Hope your feeling better! Ds1 never gets sick (hes 26) and this year even he has had a few bad ones, this last one gave him laryngitis and couldn't talk for a week!!! His boss sent him home as he needed to talk to him and customers even though he felt "okay".
Glad your night went well :hugs:

cat: hmm can one even tell by looking when teeth will certainly come? Must see if shes right lol.
:fingerscrossed: its a painless one for him.

Again no dummy ALL day. She did take it last night when woke, maybe cos she was half asleep lol, but anyhow today was back to refusing it. :D

Am going to buy a jug with lid with mil amounts on it tomorrow and pre-make her milk, have had so much wastage lately, making 200 mils she leaves so much but you can guarantee if I make less she wants more, so this way i can do a 100 at a time and quickly top up if need be, also can see how much shes having per day over all

Oh and morning nap and a arvo one again!! and still in bed by 730 :D

SammyG
17-09-2007, 09:50 PM
Tabby, great idea about making up a jug of formula. My problem with M is that if he wanted more the break while I poured it would probably put him off - such a fussy bugger!

Regarding prediction of teeth erupting I have been told to watch the ridge on the gumline - when it is less prominent or disappears teeth are meant to be close to arriving. It was the case with M so far! People had been telling me he was teething months ago but IMO he was just displaying normal baby 'I put everything in my mouth' behaviour!

Oh and my fave thing about M right now - his enthusiasm and curiosity about everything. Seeing things through his eyes is incredible - just walking into the bathroom with all it's mirrors is an exciting adventure. Watching him 'light up' when DH or DS1 come into the room is priceless too! If all babies were guaranteed to be like M I would have a dozen!!!

LOL Sammy, Glad M is such a great bub :D
Now you know why I have a 15yr gap between ds2 and DD . My thoughts of more ended with that relationship he was such a handful! I never wanted any more!!!!! As much as I love him to bits it took many years to actually "enjoy" him if you know what I mean by that.he never slept well, he had constant night terrors, he ran everywhere, he cried lots etc etc then as got older he got the shortest temper I had ever seen ( well maybe had seen, his dad lol )hope it doesnt sound horrid. I think this last 2 years have been the best so from baby to 14yrs was SO hard & mentally draining. ah well all turned out well with lots of love and guidance.

Speaking of M's amazement at mirrors etc, Have you got the light amazement yet? It started here when I put a new purple shade on Katie's, she would gawk and almost twist her neck off to look every time entered the room, now she points at lights all the time (with open mouth lol)

Yesterday the new thing was to whizz around in the walker with a face washer in hand flaying it about. Popped her on the mat and same thing, legs going wild all the while flaying it around lol
she can be so funny at times, can see many many years of laughs from her.

I forgot to say how at 11.30 last night the phone rang and ds1 was SO sick! His flu had turned to a high temp and vomiting, luckily he only lives 3 streets away so raced over there with some panadiene forte and got some food into him ( needs to eat being diabetic as well) some light crackers and 20 mins later was sleeping.
This morning I have brought him home, I couldnt sleep last night for worry, hard choice to expose everyone else to it or leave ds1 over there alone!!
Decided cant keep everyone wrapped in cotton wool so hope doesnt spread :(

Tabby, hope DS1 recovers quickly, diabetes can sure complicate things! Michael loves lights too, one particular toy has evil red eyes that light up when you shake it enough - his absolute fave of course.

Well M developed a fever overnight and couldn't get it below 37 so we were back to the DRs. He was already wheazy, teething and infected with conjunctivitis in both eyes - now we add an Ear Infection to the ever growing list! He was still charming everyone in the waiting room and chemist, huge smiles to anyone who would glance at him (saves the wretchedness for me but a cuddle usually calms him down)

Hope everyone else is well!

Not a good night for Sammy or Tabby- Hope your DS's get better soon.

I feel wrecked!! I had a busy day at school and on top of it all i need to sit and do up a yr 11 exam tonight and get in by tomorrow morning. Long story but all my resources are lost!! A busy night in front of the computer for me.

I am also battling with the good old HEART BURN!! The Mylanta just aint cutting it atm.

Hope you all have better nights, Chow!!

Hope M is feeling better soon Sammy. Poor little fella. And hope Tabby's big fella doesn't share his germs with the rest of the household.

On the topic of lights, C is also enthralled. Loves mobile phones with the screens lit up, reflections from watch faces & light filtering through his bedroom blinds.

Finally caught up with Flicka and Kelsey for a coffee today. Cameron and Kelsey had a lovely conversation in baby language and were both very well behaved. Must admit I was on a sugar/caffeine high when I got home - been a while since I've had a proper coffee!

Liviesmum, heartburn AND exam preparation Sounds like a fun combination. Hope the Mylanta does kick in eventually. Isn't it funny, when you are a student you never think of your teacher being up late doing last minute preparations. What subjects do you teach out of curiosity?

Tabby, Liviesmum & Cat - Thanks for wishing M well. Fever has finally broken. He barely touched his formula all day but managed to get some gels, custard and normal vege/chicken dinner into him. He's been asleep since 6 except for a heartbreaking period when DS1 deliberately woke him up :hair: I'm hoping he sleeps a bit better tonight but not expecting a sleep-thru for a few days yet!

Liviesmum - Heartburn sux, so does working at night at home, hope you get through it quickly.

Cat - sounds like a lovely coffee date, M gets to meet up with his mate James tomorrow if he is up for it (freakily a girlfriend and I have had 2 boys each, both pairs 3 weeks apart - and we never discussed TTC) It imakes it easy catching up with 2 the same age!

Oh, and M's new favourite things are remote controls!!! Typical blardy male!!!

oh yes, Sammy I am hearing you about the remote controls. kelsey has put teeth marks into some of ours!

Sammy and Tabby - :hugs: Hope your boys are both better soon.

Yes, the catch up was great with Cat and Cameron. Cameron and Kelsey did sort of look at each other in a funny way and make some noises - hope they weren't talking about us Cat!

Liviesmum - Hope the h/burn has eased you poor thing!!!

Well, the weather has been really warm here. Went swimming with the kids yesterday and they have gone to bed tonight in summer pj's with their ceiling fans on. Here comes summer!

Hi everyone

Sammy& Tabby - Hope the DS's are feeling better.
Sammy - Sierra loves remote controls too. I've given her a broken one & she loves it but still wants the ones that work lol. She also loves my mobile phone too but i hate the drool on it, especially when someone calls & i have to take it off her quickly & its covered in it.
LiviesMum - Hope the heartburn eases soon. I didnt like that part of pregnancy.

Us - I havent been too well, yesterday i started getting a migraine & took one of DH's panedine forte (he had them for his toothache) & usually i'm ok with one but if i take 2 they make me sick. But just having one made me really sick. Migraine went away but a few hours after taking it, i was feeling dizzy, shaky, naseous, couldnt walk straight, vomitting & then my migraine came back. Felt horrible & then this morning i still had my headache so took panadol at 5am & used my wheat bag on my neck & that helped but i've still been feeling really off & light headed all day. My mum came over & bought me some maxalon (the stuff for nausea) & that helped which i'm happy about cos now i actually feel human again & can eat without feeling sick. Mum came over because DH & I had DD1 school info night tonight & we couldnt take the kids. So i'm glad i didnt feel sick for that & had to sit thru it. On the bright side Sierra slept thru last night so i was so happy i didnt have to get up when i felt like that.

take care all.

Sorry to hear about the hard nights for Tabby and SammyG for your DSs. Hope all on road to recovery now. Great you're just around the corner from yours Tabby. Always our babies, I;m beginning to understand. Also so great about your DS2 Tabby, those early years do sound hard.

V touching to read the feelings about not being able to imagine life without them, was v nice Cat13. This morning instead of usual driving around for work, we visited my old work place and chatted with three lovely ladies. All mothers of sons. Only one of the sons died last year. That is so awful in itself, but felt so awful having the joy/life/newness of Hunter so apparent. To lose them at any age is just such an awful thing. Getting a bit dire, sorry! Ages ago I mentioned a bub of a colleague of mine, born at 23wks, now home and doing well.

Well onto some lighter stuff.. Tabby, Hunter has also discovered his tongue for poking out and lolling..also his wrists, not for the motorbike reving which is almost an all day activity, but for a very limp wristed wave  Oh and the 2nd Oct is great. Looking forward to it! Congrats on the regular day sleeps! We got a LONG afternoon one, amazing, got so much work done..arha why I;m on here now.. Unlikely to repeat, I know, esp if I post about it he he.

Happy 8 months for the other day to Sierra and great news about the sleep through for you Tired Mummy. Hope you;re feeling much much better!! Lovely avatar of her too.

Lovely hearing about the things they are enjoying. Great about the lights. I might have to do a bit of a light show..have been making lots of sounds lately and finding instruments in everything. Oh H is big on FANS, down south during the boat loss saga (+thanks V MUCH for all the thoughts!!) he encountered a number of ceiling fans and couldn;t take his eyes off them. So sweet.

Well nighty night to all! LiviesMum you;'re amazing! I hope the practice exam went well.

Thanks Korahblue - you're a sweetie.

tired mummy - you poor thing. Hope you are feeling a bit better.

Charis - great to hear from you. Always love reading your posts.

Us - Well Kelsey and I have walked and walked around the shops today in search of a couple of b'day presents for DS. His b'day isn't until November but I don't have alot of time to shop when he isn't around. So he has asked for a 'talking tractor' (of all things) and a 'beautiful drill'. you won't believe this but I simply cannot find what he wants. I have seen battery powered toy drills heaps of times before but couldn't find one today. And as for the talking tractor - hmmmm. Anyway after Kelsey has a good sleep we might duck down to k-mart and have a look. so much fun though - I love b'day shopping for the kids! Might have to look on ebay too!

Take care

Flicka: always the way when you see it but then go to buy later it cant be found! All the best finding both toys.

Korah: Thankyou and same too you!!!!

Charis: mm wander what goes through their mind at new things like ceiling fans lol?
Katie's light obsession is also at shopping. lots of pretty lights on the ceiling there but makes her quite a wriggle bum to hold while she heads up and twists and turns to see as much of them as she can

tiredmummy: Sure hope you feeling better today hun and no more migraine! xxx

liviesmum: hope the exam papers last night went well and a bit less load for you today. Hope the heartburn has eased too!

Sammy: hahha yep forgot about the remote, I do think Katie's fascination is more due the fact she cant have it? Foxtel remote has pretty colour buttons though so obviously very tempting lol

Cat: Sounds like a lovely catchup for you all.
Hope the caffeine burst settled down lol

DAy3 and still no dummy!!! I must admit I have tried as shes is still quite hard to settle at the moment but nope flat out refuses it, so today I have taken them and popped them all away. :smiliedance: Will throw then next week if still the same.

Oh and I have a squealer! When I exit the room she squeals, nothing upsetting just a squeal then stops to let me know shes not happy and I better be back ASAP lol

Hi

Know what you mean Tabby - Kelsey squeals all of the time but it is very cute (and loud).

Well, after posting my worries about Kelsey the little pudding lacking muscle tone she has decide she wants to move today. Not crawling mind you - but bottom bumping/shuffling. It is so cute and funny.

Hope you all get a good sleep (we had 3 wake ups last night - YAWN!):babydust2:

Hi all ... don't know when I last posted. I need to keep this quick cause I got 5 hours sleep last night and that was divided into 3! My fault though, cause Josh went to sleep at 8:15pm :smiliedance: but I was awake til midnight. :banghead:

After all my fuss last week Josh is now in a routine and has 3 feeds a day with minimum fuss and has full bf's most of the time that I offer him milk. He's also having multiple 1 1/2 hour sleeps during the day on most days. He still has his bad days, but then so do I ... and strangely they match up :).

tiredmummy ... I hope you feel 100% soon.

tabby ... hope DS1 is 100% soon.

What I love about Josh at the moment? Well, everything. No, seriously, this is such a cute age. I especially like what he can do with his hands now. I never realised how at 8 months babies can do so much with their hands. Mostly though I love it when he's sitting on my lap with his back on my chest and he puts up his little hand (palm up) to feel for my face, to make sure it's me there with him. It melts my heart every time he does it. I also love how he reaches for me, how he holds onto the trolley when we go shopping, how he holds 3 toys at once in the bath and won't let go, etc, etc

Better get some sleep cause dh has meetings tomorrow night and won't be home til really late, so it's just me and josh tomorrow all day.

Hi guys, how ya doin today?

Tabby- Sounds like Katie abd Bridget are always on the same wavelength. I cant leave the room anymore without bridget Crying/sqealing and crawling after me! It is actually getting a little ridiculous. It was cute at first!! Annoying now!!

Cat13- I teach Hospitality, Design and technology and Food technology!! No I dont think students realise what we do at home. I have 16 Year 11 DT Major assignments in the kitchen to mark. The students expect them back after a weekend, I'm like no after the holidays!!!

Tired Mummy- Hope you are feeling better, it sounded horrible the migrain and nausea.

Flicka- Hhmmm, talking tractor hey?.... Goodluck!!LOL!

Us- A big two days. Bridget has started pulling herself up on the furniture now, thinks she is really clever. I cant believe how quick it has happened. She has only been crawling for 2 weeks, now this!!

We had a bad night last night. Bridget seems to have the flu- was quite unwell last night. High temperatures, snotty nose, yucky cough. She did not sleep too well at all. And I was home alone as DH had to go away for work over night. She is asleep now, catching up on what was missed last night.

Oh, and finally, we have had success with the sippy cup:smiliedance: !! It came in handy last night to help keep her fluids up with those scorching temps.

So thats us, :fingerscrossed: Bridget starts feeling better, not looking forward to another night like last night, tonight!!

Tabby

liviesmum: Sorry to hear another flu victim!
Hurry up better weather so less flu for all our little ones.
Hope shes feeling better and a better night for you both :hugs:
LOL not sure envy you or not re: crawling. I want Katie to hurry up and crawl but then I remember the running after and constant watching for mischief and then pulling up and lots of falls/tears lol.
YAY for her using the sippy cup.
Katie has gone off hers :( To sore on the teeth probably, same as the no dummy!

Mim: How sweet with his holding three toys at once in the bath lol. Hope you have a lovely easy day today and glad the routine is finally there

Us: Ive just been for a walk for about over a hour, the sun is shining again :smiliedance:
I feel so much better this weather and am sure Katie loves it too as we get out on those walks twice a day when it is. Gave her two flowers to hold today as shes always looking at them as we walk, the look on her face when given them was just priceless. She gripped them all the way home lol.Wish I could work out why shes not wanting tummy time now. Or rolling at all!!

Freddie, If you read this, are you up for the 2nd Oct for the Perth meet? Cordelia is that okay for you too, hoping alls well with C by then and youll make it too :hugs:

Hi everyone,

Just a quick one today.

Sierra had her CHN appointment this morning. She weighs 7.4kg & is 68.5cm. She is being a cheeky bubba today, not crawling yet but has figured out she can go backwards instead lol but then gets frustrated cos her toys are further away

Will catch up on personals a bit later today/tonight.

Tabby, if M had been given those flowers they wouldn't have lasted long, straight into the mouth like everything else!

Mim, good to hear from you!

Liviesmum, how did your prep work go? Clever little Bridget!!!

Tiredmummy, migraines suck! I haven't had a 'conventional' migraine for years - instead I have 'complicated' migraines that mimic a stroke ie. I get tingles down my right side, numbness in feet, hands & face, followed by confusion where I no longer can understand simple words, sometimes nausea and then I need about 6-8hrs sleep before I can function again. Last time I had one was when DS1 was a bub, had to leave him in his cot and get DH home quickly!

M is back to his normal cheery self, 2 days of antibiotics have helped. I have only had to get up to resettle when his cough wakes him in the night. This morning DH got home just as DS1 was waking so M & I stayed in bed till 9 - both sleeping. I'm feeling much better for it!

Flicka - Have you looked at 'Bob the Builder' merchandise? Maybe they have talking tractors! You could always try the ABC website for their online store!

TJ woulkd have done the same:laughing: .

Better nights over the past few nights with mainly one wake-up. TJ's top teeth must be on their way as she is constantly chewing/rubbing her gums. Last night I had to give her nurofen at 2am as she'd had a feed but wouldn't resettle with her gums annoying her.
Charis...TJ loves our bathroom lights. I lay her down on her towel to wrap her after her bath and she just gazes at them.
Tabby...Yah for the nice weather. Only problem is I'm stuck at work:gloomy: .

Big sleeps everyone,

Just a quick catch up and me post. Dying to let out a big "AAAAAAAAHHHHHHHHHHH :hair: ". Phew...that feels better.

Cameron drove me bonkers all afternoon with his whinging. If he was on my lap he wanted to be off, if he was on the floor he wanted to be up, etc etc. Even his favourite toys weren't doing the trick. Bathtime is usually lots of fun but tonight even that had tears. Normally he loves lying back in the water but tonight he wanted to sit and splash which I let him do but then it was the END OF THE WORLD when bathtime was over. And again when I tried to dry his hair, again when I had to dress him and again when I took more than 2 seconds to undo my bra for his bedtime feed.

:fingerscrossed: he wakes up on the right side of the cot tomorrow morning (whatever that means).

Lucky he's so cute or I might have to consider trading him in ;)

Cat - You poor thing having a bad arvo...especially without your DH to give you some down time! Maybe the CHN was right? Could be those teeth coming thru?

liviesmum - Bet you are looking forward to school hols. I'm sure you have to plan lessons and the like but hope you find some time to put your tired pregnant feet up! And as for Bridget pulling herself up - wow. I have propped Kelsey up at the couch a few times while she stands in order that she gives her legs of lamb a workout!
Hope Bridget feels better soon!

Tabby - I'm with Sammy - Kelsey would have eaten those flowers! But lovely to see things like a flower through a child eyes!

sammy - those migraines sound awful. My mum gets those sort and I thought she was having a stroke one day - her lips went blue!

Toy hunt - BIG update on my toy hunt (the search for the elusive "talking tractor" and "beautiful drill"). so I went to Big W without any high hopes of finding anything and I GOT THEM. Found a great tractor that plays the "greenacres" theme and says phrases like "lets plough the field". I know I will regret this purchase due to the noise but DS is going to LOVE it. Also found a black and decker toy drill.

Kelsey has been great - more bottom shuffling. she still prefers sitting rather than tummy time but I am working on it. I took her swimming in our pool today which she loved and also booked her in for swimming lessons after the school holidays.

Better go - DH feeling neglected!!

flicka .. :smiliedance: for the finding of the elusive toys!

cat ... your trading in comment is very funny. Josh has days like that - including the last 2 Sundays for example. I am so drained by the time the day is over, but the good news is that he's not like that every day and for that I'm VERY glad.

I need to head off to bed, but I thought I'd share my big news of the day ... *drumroll* ... Josh went to sleep for the night at 7:30pm!!! He's been going to bed earlier and earlier in recent days and I can't believe it as 10pm was the norm only a week ago. It's especially great cause dh won't be home from a meeting til at least 11pm and I was concerned that Josh would be up and wanting to play when I wanted to sleep.

Tomorrow morning I have an interview and no family is available to watch Josh, so a mum from my mother's group is watching him. It's the first time a non family member has watched him ... I hope I can remember all the things I need to tell her.

Tabby, hope your dog is a bit better behaved tonight and great news about DS2 and his trial day at work coming up - what will he be doing?

Mouse - Have fun at the Pool Party, we are off to yet another Bday party for another of DS1's friends tomorrow too!

Us, well tonight I am hosting a Book Party - a friend has started demonstrating and it's an excuse for a girly evening. DH is taking DS1 to the Outlaws for the evening and M will be fast asleep before everyone arrives :fingerscrossed: I have been madly cleaning the house, preparing nibbles and making DS1's Birthday cake ready for Sunday when it's finally his turn. I'm making the Big Red Car this time! Poor DS1, we are having a family party with one friend only - hope he doesn't notice the difference between his party and all his mates who had everyone there!

I also have to pick up my Mum from the airport tomorrow straight after the party and try to be organised enough to catch the ferry into town late in the afternoon to catch up with some girlfriend's having a few drinks! Busy, busy, busy!!!

Sammy- Sounds like a busy one- Goodluck with the parties, nibblies and that BIG RED CAR!!

Mim1- How did the interview go?

Tabby- :yelclap: For DS and the job. That is just so lucky. A job these days is hard to find when you are starting out.

Flicka- :smiliedance: for the toy find. I thought the drill would be easy but did not hold high hopes on that talking tractor- well done.

Cat- Hope Cameron has settled down a bit for you. It is horrible when they are in that "I dont know what i want" mood!!

Us- Took Bridget to work with me today. It was ok as I only had one class today as my Yr 11's are on exams. She did not get a sleep though till 5 pm this arvo- but managed the day quite well. Still a bit sick and gets quite congested at night. We used the Vicks Vapour rub on her back and chest last night and she had a better night sleep.

Just a quick post to say that my interview went well and I should hear next week if I got the job, but it sounds promising. Josh went well without me. It completely wrecked his routine and he's only had solids once today instead of 3 times, but oh well. He's currently been awake for 3 hours straight, which is unusual for him, but then he did sleep for 3 1/2 hours this afternoon - 2 hours of that in bed with me. I was desperate for sleep and I'm so glad that he slept so well this afternoon. I wish he did that every day!

Mim: Glad it went well and so did Josh, Ive upset Katies routine plenty of times while out, usually back to normal the next day though.

liviesmum: Hope Bridget's feeling much better soon and what a good girl for you today while at work.

Sammy: DS2 job description is warehouse duties in a pet supplies place, quite large too. There is a offer of traineeship if he wants but his love is for cars and being a mechanic, so will be interesting see if it changes...Hes taking the year+ off from studies by my advice before starting his pre apprenticeship Feb 2009. :D

Mouse: Hope you had fun the swimming party.
Never heard of that before!
Hope TJ's teething pains stop soon as well xx

Freddie/Cordelia, will pm yous now but here as well: Is Tuesday Morning 2nd Oct okay for yous?

Hi everyone,
I was gonna do personals but i cant read any of the posts properly cos of the 'new look' bubhub. So annoyed, i was looking forward to spending a quiet night reading & catching up on stuff.

Anyway... Took Sierra to toe Dr's today as the CHN i saw yesterday was a bit concerned cos when she checked Sierra over she heard a heart murmur. She said probably nothing to worry about but better to get the GP to check it. She was concerned as she hadnt ever heard it in Sierra before & she sees her every couple of months. So i went to see my GP tonight & he said yes he could hear it too & it was quite loud. Usually the quiet ones are just 'innocent' ones & arent any cause for concern but the louder they are the worse they can be & more likely to be caused by problems or defects etc. He has referred us to a cardiologist. I know that its probably nothing to worry about but the thought of something being wrong is really upsetting & terrifying. I cant bare the thought of something being wrong with my bubby. I feel awful for those parents that go thru stuff like this, or worse even. So i spose i'll be worrying about it until i get to see the specialist. OK vent over... just had to get it out of my system.
Not much else happening here really. DH will be watching the footy over the weekend & one of our cars has to go into the mechanic again.. stupid cars.

Happy weekend to all. Hopefully soon i can read all of todays post. Hope it gets fixed soon.
Take care.

Hi everyone!! I feel so out of the loop, taken ages to attempt to catch up with things on here!!

We'ved moved into our own place in Vancouver a few weeks ago, so have been busy settling in. So far so good though.

Xavier has had 1 tooth for about 3 weeks now, I thought they are meant to come in 2's?? anyone else with just the lone tooth? It's very cute anyway. X also started crawling forwards properly on his 7 month birthday, and just the other day has started pulling up on tables and all things that can crash down on him and kill him basically. This mothering job has just turned into absolute madness, but must agree with CAT13 (i think) this age is the best so far!!

MOUSE I just read your incident with Tj falling over in her walker, well last nite I learned the hard way to never leave X sleeping on a bed......... We were at my mums for dinner, and I left him asleep as he USUALLY always makes noise before he wakes up and crawls around. Well, I hear a horrible scream through the monitor, run into the room, can't see him on the bed or anywhere!!! Then there he was head first wedged in between the mattress and the brass end of the bed (had quite a big gap). The sight of him was the scariest thing ever, trapped, screaming just awful. I yanked him up straight away, took a look at him to see if he was bleeding etc, all good except for a blue bruise on his forehead :gloomy: Long story short, he was fine I was more upset than him, he wanted to play again straight away. So ya i'm still recovering from that, but was a huge wake up call in terms of safety etc; Just feel so guilty he had to pay the price for my "learning" mistake. ANYWAY, good to get that out!!

Sorry for lack of personals, it's so hard when I rarely check here, but things are calming down now. Think I should really update the avatar now.......

Take care all of you lovely mums and bubs!!

Just a quick one -

Tired mummy - Just wanted to let you know that we went through this with Kelsey. She was found to have a VSD (hole in heart) at her 6 week check up. We got some tests done and eventually saw the cardiologist. They are hopeful hers is closing over (has some loose tissue nearby) but docs/nurses can still hear it loud and clear. The cardiologist told us that in her opinion it was a problem if they were weak, not gaining weight, out of breath (breathless when taking breast or bottle) or turning blue around the lips. Apparently 'heart kids' are usually very small too. We have to have Kelsey checked periodically unitl she is about 3 and if it hasn't closed over they may operate and do it.

It is so stressful and worrying though. Hope you get an appointment to have it checked soon and I have my fingers crossed it will be good news.

Flicka - She hasnt been weak or anything & she is gaining weight. Not rapidly but about 500gm every month. People have noticed & commented on her lips being blue though. The health nurse said when she was checking her (before hearing the murmur) that she looked quite blue in the face & around the lips so maybe she was a little cold but then heard the murmur & said that probably has something to do with it. A few people have also noticed she is blue around the lips, like when they have a bit if wind when they are newborns. Like my MIL or sister will say i think she has wind cos around her lips are blue. So i spose we will see. I had a murmur when i was little & it just went away. I know that its probably nothing to worry about but i think i will be worried until i know for sure.

Tired Mummy - we are in the VSD club aswell. Macy was diagnosed with a very tiny one on the day we were discharged from hospital. So I kinda know how you are feeling when you think everything is going fine and then all of a sudden they are rushed for tests etc.

Aries-moon: I love the skeleton suit, where did you get it from??

Tabby - Good luck with DS' job. Hope it goes well for him!! And happy 9 months for Katie!!

Mim1 - good luck with your job also and yay for nanna naps in the afternoon, they are great!

liviesmum - your work sounds great to let you take Bridget with you. It would be so much easier if more work places were flexible like that. I thought it was pretty cool when I was allowed to take DS to uni with me

SammyG - hope you and DS1 have a great time tmrw. Im sure he will love the party! You sound so clever making his cake, I would be hopeless

Us - we spent the day at a Scouts outdoor event with DS. It was great to see him joining in so well [as he is quite shy at times] and without him wanting us to be with him all the time. He even scaled to the top of the rock climbing wall no worries! So Im buggered and am off to bed. We have swimming lessons tmrw at 9 so no sleep in for me...

tired mummy - hope all goes well at the specialist. I am always amazed the GP picks up these things. I am sure it will be okay, sounds like she has lots of energy.

Liviesmum- congrats on taking bub to work. I am at a stage with Clea that i can barelt take her for a walk because she cries in the pram and wants to walk (holding on) everywhere.

we had our first minor blackeye. Clea climbs up and down from the bed (we cosleep) to the matress on the floor next to the bed (the playing mattress) and then up again. She is so cute, we even taught her how to climb down feet first. But sometimes she gets impatient with the whole turning the body around, swinging the legs over the edge and feet first so she just falls face first onto the mattress. Well long story, but she knocked a toy on the way down and it bruised her just under her eye and poor little thing had a black eye. It wasnt even a hard fall, must have been the angle.

Oh, who asked about 1 tooth? Clea has 3 teeth, so they havent come in 2's either.

I hope you all having a great weekend.

T is officially crawling; :smiliedance: he started last night while we were watching TV. No stopping him now lol.

Aries – I thought teeth usually come in 2’s aswell but T’s hasn't. He’s got 7 at the moment.

Mim1 - good luck with your job interview.

Tabby – All the best with DS’s Job. Hope it goes well. Happy belated 9 months for K.

Dragonflyblu – :hugs: for Clea on her black eye. Its amazing T hasn’t got any yet, he’s constantly climbing the coffee table and looses he’s balance.

Better go he's decided to stand up at his fisher price learning house. Mind you his laughing while standing there. Cheeky :devil6:

Take care

Hey guys, nice weekend this one and I am stuck spring cleaning trying to get the house in order for when we rent it out in 10 days time!! I did the kitchen yesterday. Pulled out all items of all cupboards, cleaned and neatly stacked items back!! It took all day but my god it is all neat now!!

Tiredmummy- Hope all goes well with Sierra, it is hard to find something out like this especially so far down the track. How did they not hear it before?

:hugs: for Clea and her black eye as well as Xavier and his fall from the bed. It only gets worse as they get bigger. The bigger and braver the child the bigger the accidents- thats what we learnt with DD1!! She is a dare devil- When we went to Quest-a-con last year (science museum at Canberra) she went on this free fall slide- you free fall 6ft- not much I know, but she was lined up with grown men who were backing away once it was their turn as they could not bring themselves to let go of the bar that held them from the fall below..... DD1 loved it, she kept lining up having go after go!!

Korah- I teach at a high school so it is quite easy to take Bridget to school with me as the kids just love it and help keep her entertained!!

Well Bridget is still a bit sick- she has a nasty cough and a very runny nose. She projectile vomitted all over the lounge and DH last night. It was actually really funny as it poured like a fountain out her mouth and nose- poor Dh was in shock after it- he couldnt believe what he had just seen!! I guess I have seen it before so was not that suprised.

Anyway i can go on and on, but I wont- will cut off now. Hope the weekend has been good to you all.

Liviesmum: aww hope Bridget is feeling better soon. lol @ dh though.

Strawberry: yay for Talon's crawling!!

dfb: :hugs: for poor Clea and her black eye. Bit of a dare devil there.

Korah: Sounds like you had a great day scouts, and well done ds1.

Aries: Lovely to hear from you. Sorry to hear of X's bed drama, glad hes okay. It happens, try not to upset your self too much over things like that. xxx

Us: Katie has cut no3 tooth FINALLY!!! no4 isnt far off, a day or two i would say.
Lovely sun shine so went for our walk at 8am, then dropped her off to her Nanna and out for 3 hrs driving lessons ds1. He goes for his P's end Oct, so need get more in now.
ds2 is very very nervous re: job trial day tomorrow.

Got to go, Miss is calling!

Yay, my party weekend went well and it's all over!

Tabby, Happy 9months to Katie and great that those stubborn teeth are finally arriving! Wise move DS2 taking a year away before committing to an apprenticeship.

Strawberry, Crawling Wow!!!

Tiredmummy, I will be crossing my fingers for you that it's only a little problem that will sort itself out.

Aries, I too love that skeleton suit!

Liviesmum, great that your students are good with bubs along! Hope B gets better quickly!

Dragonfly, I'm so glad M is only rolling and DS1 is still happy to sit in his toddler seat most of the time!

Korah - Go Scouts - I went right thru Brownies, Guides and Rangers until I was asked to leave for some cheeky behaviour (nothing too rotten I promise)

Us - Book Party and Birthday Party went off without a hitch - Ben was a classic - said all the right, gorgeous things to the right people at the right times! Lots of lovely thankyous for his gifts and he told me this morning that his 'wiggles' cake was beautiful! Got spoilt rotten of course.

Here are pics of Ben with his mates and his 'Big Red Car' Cake!

Speaking of such, forgot to say, AF arrived and a few days early I might add!!, least im not wondering now. Will go one more round then if no luck will go get my clomid for October AF. Had allready spoken to my gp and hes happy to prescribe so at least I can avoid hefty OB fees this time.

Sammy - That cake is SO cool. I want one lol. I wouldnt have the patience to make something like that.

Thanks everyone for the :hugs: & reassurance. I think i was just really shocked. I thought they would have picked up something like that earlier than now but obviously not. Sierra is really good though. Her first tooth is just about to cut thru. I could see the corner of it on saturday but its disappeared again. She is extremely close to crawling too. Its very cute. She will move her arms properly but leave her knees behind lol.
Taking the kids to the zoo this week cos they are on holidays from kinder & then DD1 & 2 are staying at my mums on wednesday night & my sisters on thursday night & not coming home til late friday afternoon. Cant wait for the break to be honest, its just been non stop recently. It will be nice & quite & nice to spend some one on one time with Sierra & have some quiet peaceful evening & nights with DH. Really cant wait. Only 3 more sleeps

Tired Mummy....:hugs: :hugs: for you and S. Hope you get some answers soon.
Aries..great to hear from you. Love the avatar. X will ahve lots more falls before he works it all out. My theory - as long as there's no blood, things are ok
Sammy...fantastic cake

Swimming Party...the party wasn't as bad as I thought, though the night before was scary. I found my pg bathers, bottoms still fit:( and the top did ok, but was very empty. Very scary though when I realised I no longer had anything that resembled a bikini line:eek: . Last summer I couldn't see it so didn't worry.
The party was a good idea and I'll be thinking of doing one for DD1 next year. The mum only had to pay for DD1 and myself entry $8 combined. She had a cake, a couple of bags of chips and a couple of containers of homemade stuff. Lots cheeper than a catered party place and lots eaier than trying to do it at home (I always overdo the food).

DD1 had her 4 year needles this morning. Cried lots, but aside from her arms being a bit sore, she's ok.

I don't think TJ's top teeth are far off. She gave me a look today adn I can see the shape of them under her gums.

Can hear TJ talking in her cot at the moment, so had better go. Good nights for all,
Lisa

hi everyone, its been a long time between posts...again...I've managed to read through all I've missed but who said what is all a bit of a blur. :hugs: to Charis after your amazing adventure!! and to Tiredmummy as well, hope you get some answers soon. Great to hear from you as well Aries and to see cheeky little (not so little) Xavier in his skellington suit!

We've had a lovely holiday 'down south' but all ended up with horrible head colds so my brain is a bit MIA. DH has 2 1/2 weeks off between jobs which is fantastic but I was so looking forward to being able to get some stuff done around the house while he is home and now I just feel like !@#$ plus having to get up every couple of hours at night to poor little Hamish who can't breathe properly.

Whing whinge, sorry. BUT we finally have a tooth!!! I was telling H he was going to be a toothless wonder boy and spotted it - top right - when I'd been staring at the empty bottom gum all this time. I think the left one is on its way through as well.

H is crawling around but now prefers to spend his time standing, pulling himself up to anything he can reach and not far off cruising around the furniture.

Sorry I didn't get back to you earlier Tabby but yes we will probably be able to come next Tuesday if you pm me the details. Look forward to seeing all the Perthies again.

Hi everybody

My brain is dead from working the last couple of hours. Not really the most fun way to spend an evening but I find it's the only time I can really get anything done. C generally doesn't nap (or play happily by himself) long enough to get much done in the day. Had my first pay day last Thursday. Not much compared to working FT but compared to $0 for the last 9 months I felt very rich!

Cameron's still been a little sooky, lots of drooling and very fussy with his daytime BF so could be teething. Still loving his solids though and also a BIG 3am feed the last few nights. During the day though he only has a few sucks and then starts wiggling all over my lap & crying if I try to reattach him. Although I got him to feed for a few mins today by having him sitting on my lap facing my chest and leaning in........not the easiast position to achieve though!

Teething question, when people say to feel for the lumps do they mean on the top of the gum or front of the gum? Because I can feel nothing on top but can see two bulges on the front of the bottom gum. Or maybe that was always there and I just never noticed.

Good nite....

Tabby
24-09-2007, 08:24 PM
Cat: Katie's were most noticeable at the front of the gum too just before coming through, her left one is still bulging as it hasnt cut yet. So sounds like almost there for you as well.

Freddie: Sorry to hear your all unwell, do hope its a short cold and your all feeling better soon. Glad your holiday went well. yay for the first toothie peg!
Will pm everyone my addy later.

Mouse: :hugs: for dd1, hope shes okay after needles.

tiredmummy: Have fun on zoo day.
Will have to visit ours once warmer weather. Last visit was when ds2 was about 2! lol

Well ds2 didnt do well job today, he came home 1pm he was knackered and could barely walk lol
Have implemented a fitness regime starting Wednesday! Hes coming with me on my walks as well...Ive been very slack in not making him get out get active! Anyhow, a wakeup call for him and hes quite happy to get fit and start again work in 4 weeks.

Hi everyone,
Finally i can read bubhub properly.
Mouse - :hugs: for DD1 needles... poor love.
Tabby - I dont mind the zoo but dont see why we have to keep going back lol. My mum promised the girls she would take them though & buy them ice cream, so i have to tag a long. As long as the weather is nice then it will be ok. I'm just looking forward to after the zoo when DD1 & 2 go to my mum's & sisters for 2 nights. Only 2 more sleeps i keep telling myself.
Freddie - Hope you & Hamish are both feeling better soon.

Have had a pretty rough day. Had to get up early to take DH to work as our other car is still at the mechanics & woke up to DD2 covered in diarreah (sp?). It was absolutely horrible & when i say covered i mean comletely everywhere. All thru her bed, pillows, pj's, socks, everywhere. So gross. :barf: Threw her in the shower & then discovered that the toilet seat & floor was covered too. I've been feeling sick all day cos of that.
Then had to take DD1 to swimming, then to my SIL, then started getting a migraine again... damn them lol. And then had to go get DH. Felt really ill by the time i got home but still had to organise dinner for the kids, DH had to go to the dentist to get a tooth taken out so at least i didnt have to cook anything big for the kids.
Finally my migraine has eased off after painkillers (not panadine forte this time lol) & heat bag on the back of my neck. But i'm hoping DD2 has a good night & doesnt do that again.
Sierra's bottom gum has two huge lumps & is bulging but teeth still havent cut thru yet. Shes also even closer to crawling today. Must only be a few days away & the teeth too. Shes been eating heaps the last few days too so thats been good cos shes been sleeping a bit longer at night. Havent heard from the hospital about her appointment yet but if i dont hear by tomorrow night then i will call them first thing wednesday. Dont really want to wait too long to check everything out, the sooner i know everything is ok the better.
Well enough :ecomcity: from me, i could probably go on & on but you'd all just get bored lol.
Take care.

Freddie...:hugs: hope you start to feel better soon.

No problems with DD1 after her needles. She still won't let me take off the cotton wool and tape, but I figure it will fall off sometime soon.

After another flat out weekend, I've been racing around trying to get the house back into something that doesn't resemble a bomb site.

Better nights with TJ, wiht only one night feed for the past 4/5 nights (can't remember exactly as it all becomes a bit of a blur).

DH due in today, so we're off to the airport again soon.

Hi to everyone! I've been trying to catch up again. to all the bubbas who have lumps and bumps and bruises!

Audrey has suddenly gone from 5 bottles a day to 3! Freaked me out the first day...but it's great now! She's plodding along with solids - is not really impressed by veges at the moment and she really struggles with meat of any kind.....but was quite happy to tuck in to some of my lasagne the other night!!! They are just so crazy and unpredictable!

We are still nearly crawling.....lots of up on all four and rocking back and forth, lots of going backwards (and getting stuck under the lounge) and she has discovered how to get to sitting from being on her tummy. Her balance must be great....she stands on tippytoes with her arms out and then swings one leg under and rolls to sitting! She's started doing it in the cot too so we think it's time to put the base down to the lower level! Still just the bottom 2 teeth.

We had a little brisbane mums meet yesterday and were discussing what a lovely age this is! Makes us all clucky! Audrey is saying dada, dodo, dog, bubub and lots of other unintelligible gabble!......t, t, t, t, is her way of saying cat! Poor cat she doesn't know what's coming!!

Quick question - does anyone sit their kids up in the trolley at the shops? I don't have one of those padded things and i just don't know how well she would go yet??? She's getting hard to entertain in the babycapsule style trolley - and nearly too heavy.

Hope everyone is keeping well!

Cate - I dont have on of those padded trolley seat cover things & i sit Sierra in the seat part. She does fine. I just use the strap on the trolley & tighten it as far as it goes & she doesnt tip over or fall out. She loves it cos she can see everything.

I used the trolley seat this week too. But I do have one of those covers - a clean shopper. One of the best baby purchases ever. I just rolled up a thick blanket and put it around her middle (like a spare tyre) and she didn't move or fall down.

Sorry, no time for personals or a proper catch up. Kelsey just woke up. Why does she always wake when I sit down at the 'puter???

Thanks for the advice Flicka, Tabby and Tiredmummy. She sits very confidently on the floor etc.... so i figured she would be ok......i just didn't want to look stupid!!! You know when you think....hmmmmm if I do this will everyone look at me as though I'm a bad mother!!!

How are people who are back at work going? I'm starting to get very nervous about the whole thing but i'm not even going back until the start of next school year........i just feel quite overwhelmed at the thought of everything i do now and how i'm going to fit all that in with working fulltime.

Hi everyone,

Glad you all liked the cake - have to put my thinking cap on for M's 1st Birthday as I have no ideas yet!!!

I don't much like this new look Bub Hub, wasn't receiving email notification for a while which was frustrating.

Tiredmummy, gosh I feel for you, I have enough trouble dealing with vomit let alone the other end and you are copping it with the migraines too! Hope all are well soon.

Tabby, fantastic news about AF arriving, at least you have some idea where you are at now! Hope DS2 gets fit quickly so he can resume work. The knashing of teeth is a terrible sound but don't the little ones find it amusing?

Cate, I am sure you will manage just fine next year once you get into the swing of it! Clever Audrey with all her babbling.

Us - We just had a lovely morning at the park, DS1 played happily with all his mates while we sat with the bubs on picnic rugs in the shade. M loved sitting with me behind him for security and made a nice mess with an arrowroot bikkie as a treat.

Has anyone bought a play pen that they would like to recommend for us to buy. Ella needs to be in a play pen at my work now and I was told that most move across the floor when the baby leans on the walls.

I would appreciate any advice on this matter.

Also has anyone at this 8 month stage thought of stopping breast feeding yet ? I have been toying with this idea. Should we keep going until 12 months???? or Longer ?? I am so confused.

I know this is late...I have a Trolley Mate and TJ loves sitting up in it. The first time, she sat amazed the entire shop. Now I just call by Bakers Delight, split a hard dinner roll between the two girls and TJ is quiet for most of the trip and isn't grabbing at everything if I venture too close to the shelves. With DD1 They didn't exist, so I just used to put a rug in the trolley so she wasn't sitting in whatever goop might have been left by the previous occupant.

I knew I'd jinx myself. After saying we'd had some good nights, I had a shocker with TJ last night. She had Sweet and Sour chicken for dinner for the first time, so I think that may have been the cause of our problems.

Had better go,
Lisa

We have a timber playpen, but only used it as such when DD1 was little. It's currently being used to guard the heater.

I have heard of some moving if the kids put pressure on the sides. I think you can buy some with bases which (you would think) should stop that problem.

Have you got a portacot? They work just as well for a while.

grinding teeth - my nextdoor neighbour was just telling me about when her now 18month DD used to do that. Apparently she grew out of it as the rest of the teeth started coming in.

trolleys - had been wondering the same thing. Have still just been using trolley's with the capsule seats but such a pain trying to find one that a) is clean b) is in one piece and c) has a working safety harness. Spend more time searching for one than I do shopping so would be heaps easier if I could use a regular trolley but not sure if C's sitting well enough yet. Only one way to find out I guess!

playpens - had intended to buy one but haven't got around to it and not sure I really need to. But if I do buy one it will be the jolly hexagonal wooden one.

us - definitely teething. Lots of whinging, drooling and finger chewing. I gave him some pear to chew on today and he foamed up at the mouth like a rabied dog and his clothes were soaked. Lots of #2's today as well including on the rug at nappy free time and on the change table after his bath  . Still off his BF and my boobs have disappeared....a glimpse of what I have to look forward to once I stop for good. It's probably just due to teething but was wondering if it might also be he's ready to drop a feed or maybe AF about to return.

Had a nice moment tonight when C was hysterical with laughter in the bath. Of course he's been laughing for a while now but not like this. It was a spontaneous joyous belly laugh at the noise of the air bubbles when I held one of his toys underwater. Followed by more laughter and giggles when I repeated it & squirted water at him. Lots of fun.

Hi everyone

Well its been nice & quiet as our place with DD1 & 2 at their nanna's place. Sierra & I have enjoyed a sleep in & just some time to play together without me getting interupted. Its been nice. We might even have an afternoon nap i think. Actually got to go to bed early last night too which was great. It was 8.50pm & i had nothing to do, couldnt believe it. DD1 & 2 are coming home tomorrow around lunchtime so i still have plenty of time to relax & play one on one with Sierra. Its quite strange though when there isnt alot of noise like i'm used too.
I can see Sierra's first tooth. It hasnt cut thru properly yet but probably by tomorrow. Its white under the gum so wont be long til that last bit of gum breaks. Shes not very interested in her food today or yesterday, probably cos of her teeth but she has still been really happy.
Better go... Sierra has starting talking/yelling at our cat & is tryng to make her way over to her

Take care.

Tiredmummy - So glad you are enjoying a little bit of 'quiet time' and some one on one time with Sierra. It is nice to give the bubby your full attention for once - I often feel like that when DS is at kindy.

Cat - Home Cameron cuts those teeth soon - poor boy.

I don't know anything about playpens - I just use my portacot if needed.

Well, I am probably about to jinx myself but here goes - Kelsey has slept through the last 2 nights! She is still getting up early (like about 5.30am) but both her and DS have always been early risers. Hope she keeps this up as it has been fantastic.

Take care

Busted!!!

Listening to it as I read DS1 a story, he slept till 4pm this afternoon so is still awake now.

A book I can really recommend 'Where is the Green Sheep' by Mem Fox. Not too long and very cute!

M woke up this morning a bit grumpy with a cold. He went back to bed at 7:50am and slept for 1.5hrs. Was much chirpier when he woke up again thank goodness!

a quick hello here while Hamish is being bathed by his dad....lovely and quiet up here! Yes Where is the Green Sheep is our FAVOURITE book. Hamish loves it and we read it every day!! He turns the pages and gets very excited when we get to the last page and find the sheep. Today he was trying to get it out of his toy box and I was pointing to it and talking about it. He got really excited when I said 'green sheep' and cracked it until I sat and read it with him.
Well I've taken a turn for the worse on the cold front so hopefully will be better by Tuesday for the Perth meet. Luckily DH is still home on hols and I've been looked after today. I'm a bit !@$ at resting though.
H had the best night's sleep for ages - from 7pm to 3.30am, feed then slept until 6.30am - and two good day sleeps. I of course woke at 1.30am waiting for him and didn't go back to sleep until after I finished feeding him at 4am...sigh...got to get the hang of this sleep business again. I think the long sleep might have had something to do with giving H his dinner at 5pm instead of 3pm. I've tried again tonight so lets hope so!
oops, bath over and pre-bed feed time.

Sammy and Freddie - Yes, great age to introduce lots of books isn't it? DS LOVES green sheep too. Also the Hairy Maclary series, 'the very hungry caterpillar' and 'where the wild things are'. I try and make an effort to read to my two after dinner and then again to DS in bed. Kelsey is not as interested as DS was - she wants to EAT the books rather than read them. Anyone else have any fav books they can recommend???

I should be doing my ironing but have no motivation for housework at the moment. Had a lazy dinner tonight - veges for kelsey and a boiled egg and 'soldiers' for DS. We call them 'catch and kill' dinners - if you can catch it and kill it then you can eat it!!!

Any "House" fans out there??? It's back on next week - yay.

I am knitting a doll each for the kids for christmas so I should get probably get on with that.

Hi everyone - it's been aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages!!!

New site!! It's very slow for me - is that normal??

Us - No teeth but...

Crawling!!! Yay!!! well... no yay.. straight for all of DH's computer cables - I should have harrassed him more about that grrr

Trolleys - Caitlin's been in her "trolley mate" since the baby expo (how long is that?) she looooves it - bit annoying that if they get tired and sooky you have to start sprinting around to get out of there as they can't just go to sleep. The lady at the checkout loved me last week - trying to sooth a screaming baby whilst ditching everything down the conveyor belt at her.

Dummy - Been over two weeks now!! Hasn't missed it once. BRILLIANT!!! I highly recommend it!!

annnd finally.. Perth meet - thanks so much for organising it Tabby!! I shall attempt to make it - will let you know :)

late for swimmingggggggggg
Me.

PS (Now i'm really late)

This is terrible! I thought babies couldnt tell the difference between races but there is a definite recurring theme whenever Caitlin sees anyone of Asian descent - inconsolable crying. It's not a fluke because it's happened 3 times in the last week. One of her friends is middle eastern (and she doesn't react to her). anyway.. anyone else experienced this?? Weird.

Cordelia: yay on the crawling! None here as yet, am wondering if shes just going to get up and walk actually, as she prefers to stand everywhere and still hates on her tummy.
Yep I started on DP even in pregnancy about the comp cables etc, we moved into the bedroom with the comps some weeks ago and got a door barrier so he can sit in here but with door open, squishy in here though lol.
Hmm..Not sure if Katies hesitation to smile is race related, havnt really taken notice, just her general hesitation over all to strangers now, though she does love the little old men and ladies lol.
I agree when they're tired though the trolley still cant beat the pram, okay for quick trips but if I can take DP I wait and go with him so he can push pram while I shop..Tired/grumpy baby makes my shopping higher as I cant budget and compare shop as its grab and rush.

We cut the no4 tooth YAY!!!!!! :smiliedance:
Had a look and looks like others are not far behind!

Got to run, have just got home, Hi to everyone though!!!!

Looking forward to Tuesday.

Flicka...:smiliedance: for the sleep throughs, hope you didn't jinx yourself and they continue.
Sammy...We love Mem Fox too, though don't have the Green Sheep, will have to look out for it.
Favourite books...I'll admit, I'm a book freak, so we have 100's of books. DD1 goes through stages and her favourites change regularly. I'll just get to a point with a book I can read it with my eyes closed and she'll change. At the moment our favourite is 'Edward the Emu'. She can almost 'read' (from memory) Hairy, Scarface Claw, Hattie (Mem Fox), Edward, Green Eggs and Ham, and has started "reading" to TJ. TJ just wants to eat the books.

Better nights at our house for the past two, 5.15 yesterday and 4.30 this morning.
I don't know if I've mentioned, but I'm topping her up with Weetbix at dinner until she wants no more. Surprisingly, I don't think I was feeding her enough:confused:   .

Cordelia and Freddie...hope you are all well enough to join us on Tuesday.

Have a great weekend,
Lisa

Yay for the better sleeps . We've not been doing too badly here either. Getting the odd sleep through until 6ish but most nights still one or two wakes between 7pm and 6am. And C is back enjoying his BF again. His refusal ended at 3am night before last when he absolutely gorged himself only to bring a large portion back up when I popped him over my shoulder. Cheeky bugger smiled and went straight to sleep while I cleaned up!

Yay too for the 4th toothy Tabby. I think C's is first is going to take it's time.

Flicka, I'm a House fan too. It's pretty much the only show I actually try not to miss. I used to like Law & Order (to DH's disgust) but they always seem to be repeats.

Cameron LOVES his books too. No good trying to actually read to him though, he just wants to try and grab the pictures off the page and see if he can fit a whole book in his mouth  . I was always a big bookworm and hope C is too. I like giving books as presents for kids but my niece and nephew aren't always too impressed!

Just been doing some last minute tidying. My FIL and his partner are visiting this weekend. Was all booked before we knew DH wasn't actually going to be here (yikes!) but I figure they're mostly here to see C anyway so won't have to try to hard to entertain them. I do get on well with them and when FIL gets too much at least his partner will be here to keep him in line!

Can't really comment on the race thing Cordelia, C loves any new person at the moment especially kids. I'd say it's just to do with the person's appearance not fitting with what she expects a face to look like. A bit like the way some bubs cry if confronted with a person wearing glasses (from my personal experience as a glasses wearer!)

Flicka: Was very much a House fan at first, must admit havnt watched for ages though! Must get back to it.

Cat: LOL we have a book eater too, Today when shopping we purchased a new one to add ( thick type baby ones) and gave it to her to hold, by the time we were at the checkout it had a chunk off the corner. lol
I bet C gets his teeth one after the other when they do come though.

Mouse: oh good news on the sleep throughs, lets hope that was it and plenty more from now on.:fingerscrossed:

freddie: Hope your feeling better xxx
This sun over the weekend hopefully helps.

Charis: Hope your both well...havnt heard from you for a bit. xxx and hope your coming Tuesday too

Cordelia: I forgot to say, we also gave the dummy the boot and would have been about the same time..two weeks ago, well done to both of us and K and C!!!!

Walked down by the river this arvo, must say I never was a walker but really really enjoy it now, probably as Katie gets so much enjoyment out of it and its rubbed off to me lol. I feel MUCH better for it so will indeed keep it up, 2 kilos down!!!

Oh and do I need to baby proof much Tuesday? Have we got up and go crawlers or just drag along sort of thing lol . Never mind... Has to be done soon for K anyhow so will make sure the Lounge room and dining are done so theres plenty of crawl space if need be.

Woo hoo  Time to say hello to all. Ok ok it was the HOUSE note that made me log in..he he. Oh and the very sweet echo echo post of Flickas. Oops, Am letting the side down, no more immensely long posts in here from me. Have been working a great deal day and night including tonight. But great news about House, only tele I used to watch, oh and Survivor but not the late night Sunday time!?
Books are great! We have so many, and Hunter also pulls them out and accidentally gets them open too sometimes. This Green Sheep sounds great. I did read a lovely one about a little boy named Eddy and an enormous teddy in a forest today that belongs to a bear, who has his teddy called Freddy! umm okay so remembering the title would be better :) Hunter is v much into touchy feely books, also Are you MY mother? Anything wth pictures of babies..BrownBearBrownBear.. Spot Went For a Walk, Rosie the Hen that psychedic book from our childhood..all favorites at the moment. I get out books at the library each week too, always nice to have some novelty.

Congrats Cordelia on the crawling!! Also to Katie and Tabby on the 4th tooth. I think we have match toothypegs and this arvo he really moved forward rather than backwards crawling, not very neat yet..but using knees..OMG!!

Freddie hope wellness is arriving to you and you;re getting back to 110% Be great to see you and Hamish again soon!!

Be so great to see the Perth girls and bubs Tues. Yes got my PM just now Tabby thanks!! Will get there for sure.

SammyG great the birthday went well! Also that M has a second sleep this morning at 7.50 WOW. Lovely baby !!

Cat13 YAH for Cameron back on. refusing feeds is depressing isn't it!

And Mousebrown, yes they have funny little tummies, Hunter sometimes eats and eats and then the next day not heaps at all..weetbix for top ups a great idea. Should use them :) Mushrooms, asparagus ok for bubs? Anyone know.

Oh it was so great to see AriesMoon and Dragonflyblu, and hear about lovely Xavier and Clea!

Well a much needed sleep awaiting me. Little precious Hunter has a sleep halo at the moment..but wont jinx that too much he he.

Hi everyone

Books - I'm not really that into reading much even kids books lol. But 'Where is the Green Sheep' is fantastic. My sis has it for her little girl. Very cute. When DD1 & 2 ask me to read them a story i always try to make DH do it. I like reading books on parenting, pregnancy etc & magazines, but thats about it.

House - Think i have only ever seen one episode. The shows i tend to not miss are Aust. Idol, All Saints, Californication... (LOVE it!! lol) There is more but cant think at the moment.

Not doing too much today.DH wouldnt even think of missing the Grand Final. We are doing a grand final lunch. We do one every year no matter who is in the grand final but this year its a bit of a surprise. DD's have helped me & we have made a quiche & zucchini slice (which is exactly like a quiche but with grated zucchini in it for more texture... so yum) 2 BBQ chickens & salad stuff for bread rolls. Been out this morning & bought DH some booze & some chips, lollies & a box of donuts. I cant wait til he gets home just so i cant eat it,
Should be a good afternoon, i dont care who wins but i just like all the nice food lol.

Sierra is still extremely close to crawling, not really in a rush for her too though then i'll be running around everywhere making sure she doesnt get into things. I can see her bottom tooth just under the gum s but it still hasnt broken thru. She has been talking/yelling heaps. Finally is saying mumma alot. If she starts sooking or getting tired she lifts her arms up for me to pick her up & says mum mum mumma. Very cute.

Happy weekends all.
Take care

Hi

Kelsey has just started saying mumum too tiredmummy!!! I also love californication but it is on so late - I am normally dozing off by then!

Cat - I am the same - a total bookworm. I NEED to read every night before bed even if it is only 5 minutes. Glad Cameron is back to being a booby loving boy!

Thought of some other booke we love - "Time for bed" by Mem Fox is also a great bed time book and "Can you cuddle like a Koala" - not too many words for bubbies and nice big pictures.

So great to hear from you Charis - have been wondering how you and Hunter have been doing. I think mushrooms and asparagus would be fine as long as you were able to mash to the right consistency - difficult as asparagus tends to be really fibrous doesn't it? You could always cook it and then give him a stalk to gnaw on. I have done that with steamed carrot sticks, green beans and broccoli. Oh, and Kelsey has discovered grapes and LOVES them. Have to keep an eye on her as she hides the skin on the roof of her mouth and sucks on it for ages!!!

Tabby - I am with you on this crawling thing. DOn't think Kelsey is going to do it. Think she might just get up and walk as she loves standing holding onto the couch.

well, I had better go - I am such a post hog!

Off to the park with the kids this arvo.

Take care

PS Tabby - well done on the weight loss too!
