View Full Version : I Got my Homebirth!!!!
:babydust2: A decision has been made and we are having a homebirth!!!:babydust2: YAY!!!
I went off the idea for a little while because of a few barriers I just couldn't find a way to overcome. But I realised over the last few days that they are pathetic excuses not to have the birth I really want, I still don't know how we'll get past them but we will, I know it.
I told hubby how I was feeling and we just spoke on the phone (he is overseas) and not only has he agreed but he is really happy as well.
Oh, I feel as though a weight has been lifted off my shoulders, I just didn't feel right going to hospital.
Thank you to all you ladies who have helped me realise that this is the birth for me.
YAY...I'm so excited!!! :smiliedance:

I'll be in Tassie when I birth.

Yay MrsO! I'm so pleased for you. I may be joining you - we haven't yet worked out the logistics this time around. Have you chosen a middie yet?

Thanks Duchessa!!!
How exciting that you might be having one as well, did you have a homebirth last time?
Yes, we've booked in with Terry Stockdale in Hobart, she's incredibly well known, all I have to do is mention her name over here in Perth to find SOMEONE who knows of her or knows someone who birthed with her. I feel very confident with her.

That is funny - if you hadn't found someone I was going to mention her - my sister, who is in Tas, used her last year during her preg, though she ended up in the BC. That is great that you have someone you trust and like.
I'm very excited for you!
My last birth was quite a high intervention one as I had mc/da twins. But I have organised a couple in the past year that haven't worked out... But as you know, this preg is sticking so I need to start looking again. Unfortunately the middie I had lined up is temporarily out of service, so I need to find another.

Way to go, Mrs O!
All the very best with your plans, I think half the fun of a homebirth is making all the plans and gathering all the 'toys'. Are you having a birth pool?

Haha...I swear she is so well known!
I hope you can find another middy, I know you live rural so it must be hard. You've got to do it though, we have to add a few more homebirths to the Feb thread!
Way to go, Mrs O!
Are you having a birth pool?
Thanks Julie!
I am absolutely having a birth pool! I would like to birth in it as I think water birth is such a peaceful experience, but I know sometimes when you get to that point you don't feel like it so we'll see, either way I intend on using it for pain relief!
I'm going to set it up in our sunroom which is a semi-circle room with big bay windows looking out onto the garden. And if it is dark I am having candles everywhere, I know I probably wont care while in labour, but it is just something I really want to do. So much nicer than in hospy!
thats great news, i hope its every bit as nice as you want it to be
