View Full Version : Lunch on the go??? Stupid Question!
Apologies in advance for this stupid question. If I am going out with DS over lunchtime, can I take defrosted vegie mash for his lunch and carry it around at room temperature? My natural instinct is to say no, of course not!! Am I right?
If so, how do you manage lunchtime food when you are out and about? Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

If i was on the go with DS i just use to use the tinned stuff :o :D It was quick and easy!
I take a small tin of spaghetti when out.

I take frozen stuff that I either take out of the freezer and stick in the fridge the night before, or just take it frozen. Wherever you stop for a bite will have a microwave handy (friends, restaurants, cafes), so just ask them to zap it for a minute. Easy.
Otherwise I'd take some finger food snacks and DD can have little bits of whatever I'm eating.

How old is bub? with my older boys i always made 2 vegemite sandwiches and cut the crusts off then cut them into fingers and put them into a lunchbox for them. I also took other easy stuff too like yoghurts, cut up fruit etc or if they were a bit smaller i would take the jarred food. It was the only time they ever had anything but home made food so i didn't worry too much.
You can still take your frozen mash though, as mentioned by a PP most cafes etc will put in the microwave for a min or so for you.
Ooh sorry, forgot to mention. DS is 7 months old. Thanks for the suggestions girls!

I used to just put it (frozen) in one of the insulated bottle holders on the side of my nappy bag - worked like a little esky! And as the others have said the cafe should be quite happy to heat it in the microwave for you.
