Hi,
I've just moved to Adelaide from Brisbane and know no-one!!! So I'm really flying blind. One woman from my husbands work recommended Chris Sexton but unfortunately he is fully booked in April, so they put me on to his practise partner Dr Darren Roberts.
Has anyone been to him or know anyone that has?? Any comments, whether they be good or bad, at this point would be appreciated.
Thanks

Hi there,
Welcome to Adelaide you will love it!!! I havent heard of that particular ob but i have heard great things of Chris Sexton so i am sure his partner should be pretty good too. I hope you have a great birth. Not sure where you are living but some excellent private hospitals are Burnside, Calvery and Ashford.
Cheers

I had both my babies at Burnside-
my son was born last year and we had a great experience there. 1 m/w in particular spent a lot of time over 3 shifts helping me with breast feeding.
My daughter was born there last month and it was an excellent experience, even better than the first time. Everyone was fantastic, I had a lot of attention and while I didn't need any help feeding this time the midwives would get me a Milo in the middle of the night and they were all very friendly.
A midwife even came out to the car and put my son in his seat while we put other stuff and our daughter in.
The food is fantastic too!
Both times we were very fortunate to have a big room with a double bed.

hi,Our OB was Dr Roy Watson who is located in North Adelaide. He works at Calvary Private Hospital as well as North Eastern Community Hospital. A lovely man and we had no problems with him.

Hi Reneem
Congrats on your pregnancy.
I haven't actually heard anything about Darren Roberts. If you are keen to deliver at Burnside, my OB Dr Basil Antonas delivers there. He consults out of North Adelaide and Henley Beach and is a really lovely guy.

Hi Renee, not sure if you have found someone already but thought I would post anyway,
welcome to Adelaide its a great place to live, I recently had a little girl and my ob was Dr Neil Tamlin he is just wonderful, after my first 2 children and very bad experiances he just made everything perfect, he delivers at north eastern community hospital and that is where his rooms are too, I highly recomend him and the hospital aswell I did not have one single problem the rooms are big and they have heaps of double beds so your partner can stay I think they have about 11 from memory and the food was great LOL gotta have good food after giving birth hehe, ythe midwifes were second to none and were there for me 100% I never felt like I was put on hold for anyone else they made me feel very important. I really loved it there.
anyway congrats on your pg and I wish you all the very best with who ever you choose
take care.

I cant speak highly enough of Chris Hughes, who works with Dr Tamlin at North Eastern. I have NEVER heard a bad thing about him. I had him last year for my DD, and he was fantastic.
Good luck in choosing....I'm sure most ob's are great, otherwise I guess they wouldnt be in the business still!!

Welcome to Adelaide - we moved here almost 7 years ago from overseas and really enjoy the lifestyle.
My little lady is 16 weeks old today. Our obstetrician was Dr Carolyn Marlow at Attunga O&G. I cannot recommend her highly enough. I had a wonderful delivery and labour but serious post delivery complications and she worked extremely hard to make sure I was okay. Also, she visited me every single day in hospital while I was there....even on a rostered day off for her. Her practice is in the same grounds as Burnside Hosp so really handy for when you are in labour! There are also two other wonderful ob's working in this practice - both female.
Good luck!!

Amy was your appointment last Thursday around 11ish by any chance? If it was I think I might have been in the waiting room while you were there! Neil saw a woman (the appointment before me I think) who had an older (toddler) child and a new baby and he was so cute with her and brought her out to the reception and all the ladies inc Bronwyn and Annis were going ga-ga over her... so cute! I remember because i noticed the way he held her was so gentle like he just LOVED the work he was in even after all the time he has been doing it..

Welcome to Adelaide!
I can second sunshinegirl in highly recommending Dr Carolyn Marlow. I am 24 weeks with my first baby, and have found Dr Marlow to be extremely caring and reassuring. The practice at Attunga is just excellent, and I have friends who have seen Dr Karen Chandler who also practices there. I had an appointment a couple of months ago with the other partner, Dr Tracy Bradbury, who is also lovely.
Good luck! :smiliedance:
