Hi Jemma,

My other half is a Bar/Retail Manager at Mt Keith in WA. He is working 2 on, 1 off as well.

He has a job trial on his next R&R for a job close to home, which is great, we all miss him soo much and he is missing the kids(especially our little 11 week old!).

Hey Jemma,

We're in Perth. He left yesterday and will be back on the 13th. He's been working away for a year now, so he missed most of my pregnancy(and I was soooo sick, that was hard when I had a 4 and 3 year old running around all day!)

hi
my DH is a metallurgist in the Pilbara (WA). he does 8 days on and 6 off. sometimes i get a bit worn out when he's away but i LOVE his week home. i have a big sleep-in on the first morning while he has some daddy-son time. then we go for walks, go out for lunch, go shopping together... we might re-assess when we have another child but for now, it works really well.

My DH is also a Diesel Mechanic. He's in a coal mine in Queensland close to Emerald. His roster is 7 days on, 7 days off, but he only comes home to Victoria once every 4 - 6 weeks. It's hard on the kids - hard on us too, but we can understand why a bit better than they can!

Hey ya,

soon2bmummyof6: G that would be hard sometimes wouldn't it? Atleast i spose he can have some xtra time off if u guys wanna do something special or something hey!!!

Starlet: That defonatly wouldn't have been easy at all not having him home alot while ur preggers and also have 2 young children running around... How did u cope??

library laska: Sleep in's YAY..... They are the only thing i make sure i get when my partners home lol, need to recharge for the following weeks to come hey!!!!! That sorta roster sounds good.....

M,T,J'sMUM: WOW, that would defonatly be hard on u for sure, i don't think i could do it for that long, i think for me 2 to 3 weeks is defonatly enough, less would even be better lol..

Hope u all have a great weekend...

talk to u all again soon

Hi Ladies:wave:

My DH is also a Diesel Mechanic - he is in the Navy.

We spend LOOOOOOONG periods apart from eachother often.

The longest we have spent apart is
4 months!!!!!!!!!

I dont have kids yet but it's still very hard, especially when we live away from family - i really miss having my mum around when he goes away:gloomy:

Big Hugs to you ladies with your partners away:hugs:

My DH is a relief driller working for a company that contracts to the likes of BHP, Pilbara Iron etc. He is mainly in the Pilbara but was in Mt Keith earlier this year. He was working 3 on 1 off, but now is 2 on 1 off...though more often than not he also works down here too on his 'break'.
I must say although this pregnancy a bit tougher as I have a 14month old now, it great knowing it only 2 weeks. During my 1st pregnancy it was the 3 and 1 roster but often went to 4 or 5 weeks. We are hoping that next year if things go to plan it will be a 2 on 2 off, he will work 1 week down here and have 1 week totally off...that will be so good! My DD really beginning to miss her Daddy.

Hi there,

My DH works out at Moomba gas fields he is there for 3 weeks and home for aprox 10 days depending on the roster sometimes its a couple less or a couple more,

the hardest thing I find is when he first gets home the kids are so excited and all over the place then when he leaves again its even harder as they are so sad, its hard also with a 2 month old as he feels like she forgets him and he misses everything with her and that makes him sad,

but on the good side of it all I get the remote controll LMAO :smiliedance:

HEY!!!
my DF works at out of moomba too. which company does he work for? shane is with bardrill. my parents run the trading post at innamincka and i lived there for a while too.

shane does a 3 week on week off roster, which is pretty good. it sux having him away for so long at a time but we do get 3 weeks wit him at the end of the shift. we live in broken hill and are currently trying to get him a job in the mines in town here so he can he home more often, cause katie has just turned two and she really misses him now. its getting harder and harder for him to go each time.
